  • Today, we'll quickly take apart a simply made knife: The ESEE Zancudo (although this tutorial works fine for the Avispa too).

Just disassembled and cleaned my esee and they had the washers on wrong. This thing now flies open with a light flick and now my favorite knife- thanks Nick!

Great knives! I just disassembled my Avispa a few times the other night to adjust the lockbar while binging House of Cards. It was at 100% and was destroying my thumbs. Have it about 50% now. The Avispa D2 and Zancudo D2 are two of my favorite blades! Thanks for your vids Mr. Shabazz!

Do you have it setup for tip up or tip down carry? Both my Zancudo and Axispa are tip down. The Zancudo I can easily disengage the lockbar one handed but the Avispa nearly impossible with the pocket clip riding the back of the lockbar.

Thanks for the video. Very helpful and just the right speed for my first dis- and re-assembly. Here in 2020, my Avispa has 1 teflon and 2 copper/brass washers on either side and it is perfectly centered upon reassembly. Thanks again!

Thanks for the video! This knife has been on my short list for awhile. No problem at all with the "rants" and "rambling". :-)

Looking forward to the review, been on the fence about this knife for a while now.
Good luck with your troubles, Nick.
I know some gents with some similar concerns.

...Teflon washer runs smoother than PB washers..(some say)?...less friction coefficient...i.e. Hinderer, CS etc....the longer shoulder of the stop pin goes into the metal side of the handle, so it sits 'flush' (aesthetics)with the handle(thickness off material)....have a great Christmas...

      @ohioknifelover 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

JCB 67 Like you have said, the stop pin needs to be flipped around so the shorter end is with the steel liner not in the steel lock side because it will develop some blade play that I have encountered with one of my knives. Yes teflon washers help make it smoother, even though the pb washers are very smooth to begin with

I'm used to remove the old blue loctitle before aplying a new one but I see you never do it. Am i doing an unnecessary work? Also, have you ever tried the Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide rust protector ? Any thoughts on it ? Thanks for the videos Nick

Hey just a quick note. Looked at photos of the Avispa and you put the stop pin backwards. Longer side goes to the lock side. Still a good video :)

Frog lube works best when you heat the metal first, then apply it.

In 2018 nick Shabazz will start keeping nano oil in an ink well so he can just dip individual parts into it directly.

I have debated the framelock Zancuto in D2 as a replacement work knife for the bent liner lock Rat 2 i recently destroyed. Probably will pick up a mini cutjack too. Currently the Delica does the job but i dont want to wreck it. I am a savage on work knives.

Chuck Beef The Cutjack will put up with a lot of abuse. The blade on the Zancudo is much thinner.

If you're breaking locks maybe a fixed blade is the way to go.

Do you know if the thumb pin, not sure of the actual term, on the blade can be reversed? Im left handed and the pin favors the right hand.

Mine does the same thing. I could swear it came out of the box centered and after some use I noticed it leaning. I tightened the pivot and centered it but it was too stiff and tough to open. I had to ease off the tork on the pivot to smooth out the action. Still leaning, though. Doesn't seem to be a way to correct it perfectly.

On some folding knives if you loosen up all the spacer screws and pivot pin you can get the blade to center back up by walking (shifting) the scales back and forth. It has worked on some for me and not on others.

No blade play , but it has a little blade wobble , thats because the washers are so small , how much would it cost for a bigger washer , 10 cents .... makes you

I do not envy skilled trade workers. I don't envy people who say that hard work will pay off. I do not envy people who will work the rest of their lives.
There is so much money to be made. And more then enough people who want to give it to you. The only product you have to sale is yourself. Find someone who's flush, find out what they want, and sale yourself as the person who will make it happen.
You will never work hard again.

Valkyrie Survives yeah, I can agree with that.
I will respect earners over takers without question. Skeezy Bernie burn outs are a cancer.
That doesn't mean that people have to busy their ass their whole lives. I guess some people do, but anyone with a functional brain can find a nitch and scratch their itch.
