I think what daemon said to rhaenys sticked to her when daemon said she could've ended the war before it started when she escaped kings landing. Now rhaenys didn't try to escape and tried to take down hopefully Aemond and Vhagar. To add to that, when Rhaenys saw what Aemond did to his brother, she knew Aemond is crazy and have to die cause he'll just continue to bring destruction. Also to add, maybe she couldn't stand Vhagar her daughter previous dragon on the hand of a lunatic like Aemond.

Daemon had the correct strategy from the beginning. He had ordered Rhaenys to ride with him so both could attack Vhagar simultaneously because she was so big & killing Aemon at the same time. Rhaenys answer was no, he couldn't order her because he wasn't king. Big mistake.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 his bastards can because house Targaryen has married into his house many times so they share blood with them. Aegon the conqueror was half velaryon.
I think it's not being Tragaryen that is important but having Valyrian blood. Buut not all with Valyrian blood can ride a dragon - or wish to ride dragon.
What I love about this scene is that when she straps herself to the saddle, it’s because she knows Meleys fighting style and then Meleys dragging her foot through the water so she can get out Vhagar grip to crash her to the ground
The way the dragons fight, when they’re spinning in the air and breathing fire on eachother. It’s called a Death Roll, eagles do it for territory and mates and such cool detail once you know
1:33 Paranormal/haunted castle settings (especially when the events are symbolic or prophetic in some way) were pretty common themes in high medieval Romances (Perceval & the Grail quest, Gawain & the Green Knight, etc, etc) so it's rather nice to see events in Harrenhal depicted in that way - a good choice by the showrunners, I'd say.
they do have scorpions, we saw them in kings landing in episode 1, but in game of thrones they were way more effective than they realistically could be, even if you manage to hit a dragon which is extremely hard if they dont come straight for you (thats why they were at the red keep) you probably wont kill them
She strapped in so she wouldn't fall out when her dragon went sideways or upside down. She grabbed Vahgar's claw, not the other way around, went 69 to avoid flame, then took Vahgar into a spiral to bring her down to the ground, and was able to fly away once she did. There was too much smoke to see Vahgar after that, and I think she was leaving, as she was headed towards the sea.
The buckle isn’t to help Rhaenys neccessarily, it’s so she can’t fall off and leave Meleys, their bond is so strong he refuses to leave her. In season 1 when escaping King’s Landing Rhaenys insists on getting Meleys saying “I won’t leave Meleys” I BAWLED
"Is there another son ?" => Yes, Daeron, Otto Hightower mention it, but he is younger than Aemond. He is in the bief, Otto Hightower said he will go with him. Daeron is not yet appear on HOTD, (even in season 1), but he is the youngest son of Viserys & Alicent, same age as Jacaerys.
@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518Against Meleys: he managed to seriously injure a much larger dragon which helped Vhagar take them down. The battle was Vhagar and Sunfyre Vs Meleys. So while injured Sunfyre didn't technically lose Second battle. Sunfyre is already badly wounded and still kills the other one. It's a clear victory.
When Alys asked Daemon if he's experienced anything of note, with note pronounced with that derisively high octave, I could not help thinking of Stewie Griffin mocking Brian the same way with higher and higher octaves when asking how his book was coming along.
19:30 - "Dragons are fire made flesh" - Dragon blood is boiling hot and can even melt iron. That's why the men screamed in agony as their flesh melted away.
Aegon is supposed to have two sons and one daughter, his youngest boy Maelor would be the next heir, but the show didn't include him in the story probably so that Aemond would have a plot of wanting to be the king, and creating similarities between him and Daemon...
I'm not sure Rhaenyra's council would want Mysraria to join them. She's low born and a woman. I don't think they would accept her or treat her seriously.
This episode has solidified Aemond as the ultimate villain of the story! You can hate Aemond, but he's carrying the show at the moment. Every time he enters the scene, you can feel the aura..... badass!🔥
I think the reason Aegon is so upset about not being listened to is because as Corlys once said "History doesn't remember blood, it remembers names." If he sits back and does nothing all everyone will speak about is how great Cole was in battle and how formidable Ameond was on Vhagar - just like they were saying at the council meeting before he left. He will be forgotten in history if he cannot make a notable contribution. I actually felt bad for him. He didn't want this, he never did. They never even trained him secretly to do the job correctly if they wanted him to have it. And now they belittle him for not knowing enough. He only started wanting to be King during the coronation because the people applauded and praised him, something he never got at home from his family. Alicent is a terrible mother. She didn't even comfort him when his son died and now when she actually speaks to him it is only to make him feel useless and worthless. I know people say that is because she got that from her father but that's not true because other people can go through those same experiences and choose to be much better as parents than their own parents were to them. Simply because they understand how bad it made them feel growing up in a household like that - they overcompensate for it. She is cruel because she wants to be nothing more.
Will just say I wished they’d utilised Meleys speed. Rhaenys knew she couldn’t be seen to leave. As Rhaenyra would be seen to abandon her allies. Who would ally with her then? The fight with Vhagar, until the Keep Ambush, was quite tactical on Rhaenys and Meleys part. Dipping one’s foot into the water, making it slippery and hard for Vhagar to grip, then spinning under Vhagar and grabbing her the way eagles do when fighting. Well out of the way of her flames and taking the chance to go for her chest and fire pouch (what she got with Sunfyre). Smart dragon. She then spun Vhagar to the ground, let her drop and flew away. Fine. Save possibly a broken foot. Not bad for a 1v1 with a dragon known to have fought 100 battles. Did get annoyed with the Keep Ambush. Rhaenys was well aware of how Vhagar had always been used. Guerrilla warfare. She could’ve done with climbing high and diving down. Using Meleys speed. Vhagar could’ve easily been spotted from higher. If she’d have timed it right she could’ve tacked Vhagar’s back and taken Aemond-or even spun under and gone for the chest again. A few more claws and she could’ve gotten through Vhagar’s thick hide. ❤
I'm really starting to dislike alicent, mostly because of her displacement. She wants aegon to shut up and be quiet which was all he wanted until she forced the crown on him. She raised him so poorly that the dude instantly clung to any praise he got. She basically ruined his life and is blaming him for it. This is an overt parallel to how Otto ruined her life. Props to the show
At least Otto praises her and gives her some tasks to do... Oh and he never endangered his family by having intimate relationship with guards that are supposed to protect his family chambers...
She really is a shit mother. Not just to Aegon, but to ALL her children. Just look at how she talks about Aemond. "You know what Aemond is." Like, what the actual f**k, lady?? Horrible, horrible mother. It's a striking contrast to the way Rhaenyra is with her children.
The second biggest dragon is the dragon Daemon sang to at the end of the season 1 finale. His name is Vermithor, the Bronze Fury, a battle-hardened beast and the former mount of King Jaehaerys the Wise (the old king in the series premiere prologue).
This was the best episode of both seasons so far. Who cares if it was “short”. The first 3 episodes were longer and that kind of thing always seems to mislead people into thinking an episode is too short. Any episode that has a run time of 45 minutes or more is suffice to me honestly.
I NEED MY GRANDMOTHER AVENGED ASAP Also, she couldn't leave because Rhaenyra needed Rook's Rest AND to show the other lords that if they joined their cause, Team Black would defend their lands. Strategically Rooks Rest is the last crownland castle Rhaenyra has to her cause, losing it closes them off to the Mainland AND Meleys is the fastest and most agile, dealing SOME blow to Aemond and Vhagar would be a huge win for Rhaenyra's faction and Rhaenys has been riding her for minimum 30 years so they are extremely connected and might've severely wounded Hagar if Aemond didn't (somehow) put her on quiet and camouflage mode
Second biggest dragon not daemon dragon Caraxes but Vermithor and Cannibal but Cannibal not involved in War because he is wild and no one can ride him. Fyi Meleys & Caraxes is Brother and sister from Meraxes eggs (head skull in Dragonstone)
She could not leave her bannermen to be destroyed by Cole and Aemon. Word of her retreating would have spread, and as a result more would swear fealty to the greens.
Alicent is not only pregnant but also showing, notice the baby bump . Also this has to have been going on for a bit, because she states that her husband has been dead only a weeks ago.
Its another century till then but I do joke about it that the dragons died so then they’re like fuck we need something else bring the dish because the dish were the only ones that could stand against the dragons during aegon’s conquest
@26:03 no they do have the scorpions that were used in GOT. we even saw them in episode 1 or 2 of this season if i am not mistaken. there is one scene with Arryk guarding kings landing on one of the outer walls, and they see the shadow of a dragon way up in the sky but its hard to see because the sun is blinding the soldiers, but then Arryk tells his men to stand down and stop aiming the scorpion because it ended up just being a friendly dragon ( Vhagar )
Correction, Cole is referred to by his titles "Ser" and "Lord" as he is Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Hell, Aegon called him Ser Criston Cole back in episode 2 when the whole Otto being fired scene. Yes, he came from low noble house of nothing of worth but now he with the big boys. He brought his family name up. Unfortunately the writers took away a lot Criston's accomplishment that show how competent and skilled warrior he is. He, like many other characters, has been nerfed. Also, Alicent is disappointed but she also made Aegon who he is. She was never there for him, hell we even saw it back when his son was beheaded. Alicent was crying and wanting her father to pay attention to her, but he didn't want to listen to her confession. The right away she left Otto and ran into a grieving Aegon in tears and she stood there in silent and walked out saying nothing of comfort to him. It's a generational thing. Which is sad because Aegon II seemed to be the first one in his family to break that "tradition" and would have been a loving father and there for his son.
I don't think Daemon is dreaming. Someone in the castle is poisoning him and because of it, he is having hallucinations....The witch might be the culprit..
20:50 Rhaenys looked like she knew attacking Vhagar was suicide, but as the more experienced rider she at least had a chance to take Vhagar down with her and effectively end the war, seeing as Sunfyre and Aegon were out of the picture. Ugh so hard to watch though...

They sort of made up for it by showing meleys ground vhagar once before getting sneaked though.
@@ProperlyGamingfr like??? Where's Meleys speed??
The sneak attack honestly doesn't make sense to me lol...a dragon that size vanishing? Yeahhh umm
@@lgt.jne3Watch the scene again. Clearly Meleys flew miles away after Vhagar hit the ground, turned around and came back. When she came out she was under the cover of smoke and the castle
@@ProperlyGaming United against her? Vhagar's first shot did nothing but take Sunfyre out of the fight, from that point on it was a fair 1v1. Also Sunfyre did minimal damage to Meleys and essentially was awaiting Vhagars rescue.
Meleys was too injured to have made it very far & Rhaenys would have never abandoned Meleys even for the sake of her own safety. That last look they gave before turning back to fight Vhaegar again was a mutual acknowledgement they were gonna go down together. Makes that whole moment that much more heartbreaking😊
Daemon had the correct strategy from the beginning. He had ordered Rhaenys to ride with him so both could attack Vhagar simultaneously because she was so big & killing Aemon at the same time. Rhaenys answer was no, he couldn't order her because he wasn't king. Big mistake.
Maybe Sunfyre surviving the fall is parallel to Aegon surviving as well since there's a bond between dragon and rider.
yeah, similar to the bond between the direwolves and the Starks in GOT
@@Justjoshing214 Sunfyre is actually a chad in the books after this battle lol
@@yamatonadeshiko567hell yeah Sunfyre and Aegon II are beasts. Real shame the show runners are trying to smear and ruin the character so blatantly.
Yes even Jaeherys thought his daughters would get better if she's bonded with a dragon!
meleys went out fighting 😢
Vhagar needs 3 dragons to be killed, daemon with caraxes: hold my beer
Corlys doesn’t have a dragon. His children did because they’re part Targaryen.
So his bastards cannot have dragons?
@@rexibhazoboa7097 his bastards can because house Targaryen has married into his house many times so they share blood with them. Aegon the conqueror was half velaryon.
I think it's not being Tragaryen that is important but having Valyrian blood. Buut not all with Valyrian blood can ride a dragon - or wish to ride dragon.
@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 eh they’ve stressed in the show Velaryon is water Targaryen is fire. Regardless he doesn’t have one
There is a strong hint in the book that he's bonded with the Cannibal.
They mentioned Alyn being Corlys’ bastard in episode 1 I believe. When his brother Atom came and spoke to him
Corlys has never had a dragon. His son Laenor rode the dragon Seasmoke, and his daughter Laena was Vhagar's previous rider.
Aegon was wearing Valyrian armor and the dragon broke his fall trust me he’s fine
I guess we’ll see
@@MovieFusionyou will owe me 10 bucks one I’m proven right
i mean, “fine” might be pushing it.
Yea he's "fine" if your definition of fine is half is body being crispy like bacon he might look like the hound so yea lol
Yea he's "fine" if your definition of fine is half is body being crispy like bacon he might look like the hound so yea lol
You guys may honestly be the most charismatic reactors I’ve ever seen! Awesome job! Your charisma is palpable.
"i won't leave meleys" and she never did 🥺
Aegon was wearing aegon the conqueror armour he 100 percent survives but I’m sure he’s severely injured
Why would heavy armor help in surviving a fall?
they do have scorpions, we saw them in kings landing in episode 1, but in game of thrones they were way more effective than they realistically could be, even if you manage to hit a dragon which is extremely hard if they dont come straight for you (thats why they were at the red keep) you probably wont kill them
I'll give props to Cole for getting his King killed, even though it wasn't part of his plan.
The best laid plans of mice and men, oft go astray.
Gotta love when this guy is just screaming too the top of his lungs and almost shitting himself.
The buckle isn’t to help Rhaenys neccessarily, it’s so she can’t fall off and leave Meleys, their bond is so strong he refuses to leave her.
In season 1 when escaping King’s Landing Rhaenys insists on getting Meleys saying “I won’t leave Meleys”
I BAWLED
"Is there another son ?"
=> Yes, Daeron, Otto Hightower mention it, but he is younger than Aemond. He is in the bief, Otto Hightower said he will go with him. Daeron is not yet appear on HOTD, (even in season 1), but he is the youngest son of Viserys & Alicent, same age as Jacaerys.
Aegon is gonna have a serious chat with Aemond once they get back home
Brooo I’m so excited for it. Aemond might wish he just killed him 😂 long live the king.
Aegon isn't going to do much talking when he gets home 😅
I don’t think Aegon is gonna do much talking when he gets home 😂
I don't think Aegon will even do any talking if he is dead 😂
@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518Against Meleys: he managed to seriously injure a much larger dragon which helped Vhagar take them down. The battle was Vhagar and Sunfyre Vs Meleys. So while injured Sunfyre didn't technically lose
Second battle.
Awesome reaction! this is how me and my partner were acting while we watched it!
19:30 - "Dragons are fire made flesh" - Dragon blood is boiling hot and can even melt iron. That's why the men screamed in agony as their flesh melted away.
Dragonstone is very near King's Landing, so Rhae's boat ride was just a day away.
Rip Meleys and Rhaenys ❤❤❤
Aemond is so epic and a total menace, him and Daemon really doing their best imitation of each other 😂
Vhagar is 181 years old in case you guys were wondering when wondering if she was really old. She is very old. And battle hardened
Meleys was with Rhaenys the whole way. They both looked at each other like LETS GO and then GOODBYE at the end.
28:55 how did Rhaenys not see Aemond coming? I guess she “kinda forgot” about him but he hasn’t forgot about her, derpppp 😂
At least try to critically engage with what is front of you rather than shitting on it for no reason.
What r u going on about, was a dig on Benioff’s infamous GOT commentary. Deep breaths.
@@kcmet79 right right
Corlys, being a Velaryon, did not ride dragons but he rode a dugong. 😂
Alicent has another son, Daeron mentioned in the last 2 episodes. He's in Oldtown and has a dragon also
Vermithor and Cannibal (wild and riderless) are the next biggest dragons
Only a fool would dare try the Cannibal
Aegon and Sunfyre are alive no problem. Just seriously crippled.
If they had killed Vhagar in the first episode like Daemon suggested, they wouldn't be in this situation
Lord Corlys is going to be devastated 😢
2nd biggest dragon is vermithor hes the one daemon sang to in the s1 finale & will show up again later this season
I cried. Done. 😢
The second biggest dragon is the dragon Daemon sang to at the end of the season 1 finale. His name is Vermithor, the Bronze Fury, a battle-hardened beast and the former mount of King Jaehaerys the Wise (the old king in the series premiere prologue).
the crownlands are all the houses that are close to kingslanding, dragonstone/driftmark are part of the crownlands
This was the best episode of both seasons so far. Who cares if it was “short”. The first 3 episodes were longer and that kind of thing always seems to mislead people into thinking an episode is too short. Any episode that has a run time of 45 minutes or more is suffice to me honestly.
26:43 Corlys is a Velaryon. No dragon, just boat
I NEED MY GRANDMOTHER AVENGED ASAP
Also, she couldn't leave because Rhaenyra needed Rook's Rest AND to show the other lords that if they joined their cause, Team Black would defend their lands.
Aegon has another male son besides Jaeherys that was killed in the first episode, Maelor
Maelor does not exist in the show.
Second biggest dragon not daemon dragon Caraxes but Vermithor and Cannibal but Cannibal not involved in War because he is wild and no one can ride him.
Fyi Meleys & Caraxes is Brother and sister from Meraxes eggs (head skull in Dragonstone)
Bro I just finished recording too, HOLY SHIT this was fantastic!
9:55 Lmfao, Thank god this girl is here reacting this season, bro is always lost. 😂😂
Mother Rhaenys and Meleys will be missed 😢
Sunfyre has the biggest plot armor of all the dragons lol
That thing is tough as hell and we will see it in later episodes, that is if they follow the books.
People kept referring to this episode as The Dance of Dragons, but Season 5 Episode 9 of Game of Thrones already had that title.
I always thought Dragons were Fire proof just like Targaryens so I was confused when Sunfyre was caught in fire ngl.
She could not leave her bannermen to be destroyed by Cole and Aemon. Word of her retreating would have spread, and as a result more would swear fealty to the greens.
She was told to hold the castle she couldn't run in war you win or die
How tf is daemon unaware of this massive dragon battle that’s happening right next to harrenhall he literally within 5 mins on dragon back
mans is like on ayuasca
No Harrenhall is in the river lands while this fight happens in the Crown lands.
Because Harrenhal is hundreds of miles from Rook's Rest. That's why.
Alicent is not only pregnant but also showing, notice the baby bump . Also this has to have been going on for a bit, because she states that her husband has been dead only a weeks ago.
Oh shit I didn’t even pick up on that
i think this is it for rhaenyra. she’s sending everyone, including herself
Dragon stone is just across the channel from Kings landing
« That buckle is not going to help sweetie » please 😭😭
Such a great,amazing show ❤
17:50 the word you’re looking for is the scorpions
The scorpions came from Dorn though and in house of the dragon dorm technically is not part of the seven kingdoms yet
Its another century till then but I do joke about it that the dragons died so then they’re like fuck we need something else bring the dish because the dish were the only ones that could stand against the dragons during aegon’s conquest
The scorpions came from Dorn though and in house of the dragon dorm technically is not part of the seven kingdoms yet
For a minute i thought it was a scenes from lord of the rings
Thats how fire this episode was
Damn that reaction was sooooo good!!! The hype was realllll, best episode of the series imo!
Amazing episode that end scence omg so great but sad
20:50 Rhaenys looked like she knew attacking Vhagar was suicide, but as the more experienced rider she at least had a chance to take Vhagar down with her and effectively end the war, seeing as Sunfyre and Aegon were out of the picture. Ugh so hard to watch though...
aemond burning aegon was a nice touch, but in the books it was rhaenys and meleys, so they stripped her of a warrior's death and let her be attacked out of nowhere
