    I've been busy for the past several weeks and just saw this reel for the first time today. Can't believe you have a video out on it already. Looking forward to your full review in the future like you always do.

    The knob is tighter on my new one... I guess that's the upgrade with the paint. I have 4# line on it also, I'm pleased with the reel and it works well on a light 30 ton graphite UL 7ft rod. I still love my old Legalis.

    I got the old Legalis Lt 1000 a few months ago and I just got a Shimano Vanford 2500 and in all honesty, the legalis is just as smooth if not smoother...though it definitely does not feel as solid as the Vanford.

    I was wondering how the new Legalis was compared to the older model. I don’t know if it’s your microphone but the drag sounds louder on the new version. I do like the older versions color better. Hard to find a rod color to match the new reel. I don’t guess it matters because a ugly rod n reel still catches fish! Thanks for making great videos, I really like your detailed review videos. They have helped me out a lot.

    You mention in this video to use either the 1000 or 2000 size. However, I've watched several of your videos from a year or more ago. In the older videos you say to get the 2500 size and not to use the smaller reels. Has your opinion changed?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was a carp angler that does occasional crappie fishing and wanted to use the reel for other things.. Now i mostly fish ultralight and prefer the 1000/2000 sizes. I still think if i fish like in the old days 2500 would be fine. Especially for float fishing

  • @rodrigoelgu
    @rodrigoelgu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    is a 3000 thousand reel to big for crappie ? academy has the old legalis for 48 dollars but they only got the 3000 in the lower gear ratio?

    • @G4tm4st4
      @G4tm4st4 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't think so, it's only 5 grams heavier than 2500.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reel itself is not. But it depends what rod you will pair it with. If you put it on a 8 foot Daiwa Presso and you use it for float fishing - it would be perfect. But if you put it on a 6'0 shakespeare micro light and you want to jig a trout magnet, then would be too big. So if it is going on longer rod and it will balance ok - then yes, it will work

    Bought this reel in November...fished maybe 4 times. Now drag won't hold. I tighten it all the way and I can easily pull line. Any suggestions as to why? TH-cam vids say I need to clean and service the washers. Doesn't make sense since it's been fished a few times. Appreciate any insight from this group. Thanks.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      im sorry but i don't believe this. There is nothing to WEAR or BREAK there. You probably tried to 'UPGRADE' something and now the knob is not going all the way down. You don't need to service washers or anything else, but remove the knob, and the spool, and then the drag stack, and put them back the right way. There is nothing to break there, u probably put some bearing or something and not the knob cannot tighten the spool. Its a bad idea to do upgrades if u dont know what you are doing

    • @vegetablejoe2389
      @vegetablejoe2389 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ifishcatfish Thanks for the reply but I did not upgrade anything. As a matter of fact, I never upgrade my reels. I only lubricate them with reel oil once a year and never disassemble them. I will remove the knob, spool and drag stack and put them back. hopefully it will work.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vegetablejoe2389 the knob is hitting something that is preventing it to go down enough to put pressure on the washers. U can't even call that a mechanism... there is nothing to break there. U have one felt washer and one metal washer that are sandwiched between the spool and the knob. Good news is i don't believe u have anything broken, u just have to find what is preventing the knob to go down

      @@ifishcatfish Thank you for the response. I was looking for something to fish for both species, crappie, and smallmouth bass, to cut down on having so many rods on the boat. I had a friend suggest the Tatula 2500 series. I use braid and a leader for both kinds of fish in most applications. What are your thoughts on the Tatula and the Legalis? Is it worth the extra cost?
