Respectfully I disagree in the idea that Anakin had free choice in his life. Unlike us, he is a force user in whom the force flows strongly. The force has a reasonense that has great influence on the user. Think of it like a odor that acts like a narcotic in our system. When we are clean, we don't have a bad body odor but when we don't bathe or shower we get a bad odor which normally lets us know time to clean ourselves. But what happens when we try to cover up the odor with perfumes and other scents? Well we are still not clean and eventually reach a breaking point of unhealth we do not perceive until too late. This is the issue Anakin had with Palpatine's manipulations! For almost 2 decades Anakin was convinced to make tiny compromises not seeing the danger with the reasonense shifting his perceptions telling him this is the new normal. The Jedi did nothing to counter this because they blindly thought their teachings were enough to not intervene. Example in Attack of the Clones, Yoda senses Anakin in great pain but does not have a sit down with Anakin to help him sort things out! This is why Sidious tells Yoda in their final battle “Your arrogance blinds you!” That Anakin lasted in the light as long as he did was a feat unto itself!

The force in real life is basically the balance between good and evil, heaven and hell or in general terms, religion and sinners. Thats what the lightside and darkside is irl from star wars. The light side is religion, many people set in a certain way of life and if your against them then your wrong.
