    I just got the 250 ohm DT 990 and am using it with a 3rd gen 2i2. I use this for recording my own music. I think the volume is marginally adequate, but I found myself wanting a little more so I did get a headphone amp. The 80 ohm version might have been the better choice but this won't be my only use for the headphones so I'm happy with the choice.

    My personal experience with the 250ohm beyerdynamic dt770 pro with a focusrite 2i2 lacks just barely on the volume if you’re a music producer. I got the 250ohm since it’s supposed to have the flattest sound for mixing. It still works really well without it don’t get me wrong but personally I like it a little louder. Just depends on your usage and taste.

  • @SakuraMorandi
    @SakuraMorandi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    The volume differences of the versions are not that big. I think the drivers are simple power hungry but the 250 Ohm sounds by far the best. The cable is annoying and heavy, though. I had it replaced. I do not understand why the manufacturers do not manage to build an audio interface with more power that should be no problem with USB3.

I record songs so surely I only need to be able to hear playback, or sometimes live for harmonies. For harmonies if it's too quiet, then would you suggest the 80 Ohms? Thanks.

  • @beastly16
    @beastly16 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Question, I have my microphone setup for communications on my computer, such as talking to my friends through discord. Is the headphone feed independent of the line input for the microphone? As in do you always have to listen to your own voice in the headphones or can you use them normally while on your computer while still using the microphone?

    • @VicSellsPeace
      @VicSellsPeace 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can generally just connect the input line from focusrite 1+2 on discord in the input section. To actually monitor the DI, you have to click the Direct Monitor key. So yes, you can use both without having to listen to your own voice, although I find that weird myself

      3rd gen is fine with 250ohm..... depends of the source also, on a good source I'm at 50% of volume and it's enough. For making music playing etc, no problem at all also... even on a galaxy A52 5G with no amp at 80% of volume it's very good volume... so yeah.

    • @RADERFPV

      You lose sound quality and volume. The bass won't be as present, and the highs will feel forced. Using an amp helps a lot, and 250Ohm cans love amps. I'm barely getting by with audio interface with my 80Ohm headphones, an amp would definitely help.

    man, you think we all buy high impedance headphones just to hear everything more quiet? that's just one of many characteristics these headphones have. high impedance kills all the distortion, sound is sharper, brighter, flatter... or why y'all think we spend twice as much just to feed them? now... to answer your questions - yes, the volume is enough to do pretty much anything you want. BUT... the sound is just horrible even for listening, not mention mixing. So no, Scarlett doesn't behave like an amp whatsoever and is not enough for 250 Ohm
