I woke up one morning and out of the blue my remote start cranked engine but didn't start. Put key in ignition and same thing, cranked engine but wouldn't start. Tried this method and it worked for me.Thank you for posting this video, definitely helped. ( Not sure if it matters, but I sat in my truck the whole time with the door closed)

it works, i personally done this on a 04 monte carlo 4yrs ago. i turboed the car and needed a custom tuned ecu for it.

Works for me. GMC CANYON 2005 4X4 5 Cylinder. Hope this repair my problem. Engine turns off while driving, when engine shut off the antilock light flashes, must wait 3 seconds to start again.

Off comes the ignition assembly. Even tried new key as well as old key was very visibly worn!
I am a retired GM Tech and I own a 2003 Chevy Impala with intermittent security problems. I do the relearn procedure and it usually starts after the first relearn. Sometimes I have to do it twice taking a little over 20 minutes total. This is a temporary fix for any of you who don't know. There is a part of the system that is failing and I have yet to figure out which part of it needs to be replaced. I'm not a parts changer and I like to verify what's bad. I've even tried to get answers from my local GM dealership but these are secrets they don't like to give away. I guess I will just have to take the long route and figure this out myself.

Did you turn the ignition over and bump start it like he did OR did you just turn the ignition to the ON position? I have to do this to a 98 seville STS tomorrow and found two sets of instructions one says to bump start it the other says just to turn it to the "ON" position...?! Thx! O_o

To sum up my last comment and to add a little detail when I bought the car it ran but the key does not fit the doors so I'm guessing it's been switched before and now the lock cylinder seized up so I switched it with one from the junkyard off a 2006 and was a base model key with just the 3D head without buttons I started the car with that it ran for a second then shut off and locked out security mode I tried this process to reset it to no avail...
I then got a key and lock cylinder from dealer that has the lock button and is made for ignition with immobilizer and tried to reset it with this process to no avail... I'm not sure if that is because switching keys and trying the wrong type of key which still has the RFID chip but doesn't have the immobilizer and then now I'm trying a key with immobilizer in it with the lock buttons

Could you tell me .. Will this work if you have an immobilizer and theft deterent .. Ive got a 2004 chevy aveo LS hatchback 5 speed. With immobilzer and basically if you lose ur key and need a new one will this process work if u already locked the car out by starting it with a new key not programmed and the new key is the basic key with out the key fob (door lock and alarm buttons built into key) .. Lets say i locked it out with that key which is not a immobilzer key and lock cylinder .. I then changed it out for a brand new key for immobilzer with key fob( lock buttons) .. Now i have the new key and lock cylinder in.. Its still locked out (security light is on) from the first key switch and lock cylinder i did myself... With the new lock cylinder in and new key. Can i reset it this way? Because i have tried to no avail.. At first I did this process without the immobilizer ring snapped in to where it goes on the lock cylinder it was just hang in there instead and the security light was on steady then I tried it with the immobilizer ring snapped on to the lock cylinder how it's supposed to be and tried this process and the security light was flashing this time but still the car won't start the security light won't go out if I put the old lock cylinder and key back in and did this reset process would it work on the old key since it was programmed into the immobilizer already the BCU and ECU already acknowledged that key but since it's in lockout mode I haven't tried to put the old key and lock cylinder back in do you think this process would work if I did that or what I need the scanner with the anti-security theft deterrent built in
can this work for a 99 chevy venture? my pass key light/ security light stop coming on all together. it just starts and dies after 2 sec. it used to be the passkey light came on when the key was in the on position and then the van started and light went off. NOW nothing.

HELP! I have '16 Sierra Denali, randomly displays 'service theft deterrent system' and I cant start. Have had to use oem remote-start as a work-around, but that isnt working now either. Battery is good.
Do you turn the key to the OFF position between each of the three 10 minute intervals or just leave it in the ACC position?

My 2007 Rav4 wont start due to issues with the security system, is there a way to fix this problem without replacing the ECU. Would your procedure to program the ECU on the Hummer work on the 2007 Toyota Rav4. Where would you buy a used high quality ECU

You can shut off the immobilizer through the DIC on the grand prix, only if the security is not already activated.
Does that mean it’s programmed for good? Or you think it will mess up again?

Changed ignition, and it wont turn over. It did before, Also checked starter and its good, Battery, I keep a trickle charger all the time when its not moving.

I tried this, and it worked!! I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado and I replaced the ignition switch. The reason I replace the ignition switch is that it would sometimes start, and sometimes it wouldn't. I put the new switch in and it wouldn't start at all. I tried your procedure, and now it will start, whether it fixes the original problem?... only time will tell. Thanks

The old ignition switch must have been the problem. The new switch and this "reset" procedure from the video and I haven't had any problems since. It's started up every time since,... what,... Dec. 6th last year without a hitch. This particular you-tube video was, very, very helpful.

Hello David. I Have a 2008 Hummer, no crank, no start. I have tried several solutions on the passkey 3 + immobiliser with 10min, 10s off(3 times), 10min on, 5s off, etc... Did also these set while cranking(although it did not), and after several attempts, no good result came from these methods to switching off the immobilizer light.
Thanks in advance to give more lights and advices or tip on which machine to use for this.

Have a 2003 Tahoe and it wouldn’t crank intermittent problem before but now it won’t even crank my oil and fuel go way down replaced oil pressure sensor, ecm relay, ignition switch, neutral safety switch and the throttle body sensor. Anyone got any good info out there for me thanks

So, is this just the anti theft to be reprogrammed? Or will the bcm just figure everything else out itself? Aka door ajar switchs, Windows, locks ext. of course I would think you would need to reprogram fobs? Idk looks like you got more experience with them then I do. So I thought I would ask a pro :-)

Why would you need to program a key with no chip in it? Typically just leaving the truck off for 20 or so minutes will do it. But the best solution is just to clip the passlock wire and be done with it forever.

I replaced the ecu used and I replaced the module behind lock cyclinder as well (ecu and module are both from donor vechical) and on the last 10 minute wait the security light never goes off

I tried to remote start my 2015 Chevy Silverado on the MyChevrolet App and then i get an error saying I must drive it first before I can remote start again. I go to my car and try to start it with the key and I get nothing. I come back in the afternoon then it starts up? WTF Why is it doing this? I thought it was the battery and I replaced the damn thing and then in 2 days it happened again. Does it put it in some disabled mode? How do I overide it? or is it something else?

Im tried doing that same procedure to my 2004 Cadillac deville and it did not work. All i did was changed out the battery and after that it did not want to start anymore. The car only cranked but did not turn on. Really lost here. Need my car for work and this security system really makes it hard to get around
+Saied Gerami I had redone a relearn process with a smart digital scanner tool and it fixed everything but every car is different I'm not too sure exactly what's wrong with it still but at least it turns on now
