Nurburgring Hyundai Ioniq 5N under 8 with lots of slides

Had some more crazy fun with my Ioniq 5N trowing it into corners.
Tried torque distribution 30/70 to let it powerslide more but without N pedal the front end didnt 'dive' into the corner enough to make the car rotate.
( you cant combine N torque distribution with N pedal )
Ended up going back to 50/50 torque distribution + N Pedal and you can see the result :D
Also did my first under 8 BTG time while focus was more on fun than on laptimes. :)

Yours and Misha's videos broke me. Put a deposit down for one even though I've only had my regular Ioniq5 for a year now... Can't wait to get it. Mine's same color but matte. Happy to see you go through so many laps and the tires are still good.

@MilodeVries After watching so many reviews and videos on the N (and when I was waiting for my original Ioniq 5), I cannot possibly hear another car guy utter the "... fOr a HyUndAi" qualifier and why you would possibly want to buy one after being positive for 98% of the review. Can we review the car for the driving experience and not how much gold digging pussy it'll get you or the resale value. I might be dumb, but these don't factor in the driving experience to me.
@@simonsancartier7417 hear hear! Actually it being a Hyundai was part of the decision for me. On the one hand they're being awesome on many levels (increased quality, the N division, the best EV game of the legacy car manufacturers), on the other - I briefly considered a 2nd hand taycan cross turismo, but: a) I don't want to be a Porsche driver and b) if something breaks or is damaged, you're fucked.
Also, I actually had a friend of mine come over just so she could taxi some of my friends home so she could testdrive my I5N, so it's already a literal chick magnet.
@@MilodeVries yes, Doug is a dork ego too big for his head. Don't believe most trash youtubers, stick with those that deal in facts and reality. I did a review recently (no track time) and absolutely fell in love with the 5 N.

Ioniq5N is 5-seated Large size SUV. It has high wind resistance. So super crazy.
Would hardly call it an SUV. It's more like a very large hatchback. It's like a tardis on the inside though, wheelbase is the size of an S-class...
@@swecreations Same length and width of almost any previous gen midsized SUV (4runner, Santa Fe..etc), and about 4 inches less tall.

@@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 I mean it's really hard to classify it, it's the size of a station wagon with its wheels pushed out all the way. Usually a station wagon is a hatchback with its back end extended for more luggage space, so it kind-of conflicts in a way.

The only EV car I'd consider as a petrolhead! That 440i wasn't messing about either. Clearly a B58 with like a stage 2 or something but I'm more curious about the handling mods because that car seemed pretty stable in the corners too!

Thanks! I started with torque distribution 30/70 but i missed the feeling of N pedal. So i changed back to N pedal at 2:40 ✌
@@Benp5N More exciting but weren't you a little slower overall after changing back to N pedal? (hard to tell but it looked to me that you might be quicker on the 30/70.)
@@MrAdopado for me it didnt feel faster in 30/70, but i should test it for sure!
Those old BMWs seems to handle corners pretty well though. Nice video and the IONIQ seems like a fun car.

@@kadj79 i also had a i30N before the 5N, the stock brakes where perfect. Tyres not so much, i went to hankook ventus because i saw the ring taxis using them and they where great!
800 volt architecture delivers good regen instead of overheating brakes. This kind of maximum effort is possible with a 400 volt architecture like the Tesla
model 3 performance … at the expense of the brakes
@@Benp5N Really the Ring Taxis use those tires? Over the weekend I needed to change tires really quickly and I couldn't get Michelins because they were out in my size (305/30-20) so it was between the Hankook and the Continental. Hankook was really cheap...so I passed on it. The Conti's are so so.

Hi, no this is still the OE Pirelli Pzero PZ4 Elect tyre. After 15 laps, 5000km in total and some big slides the tyre is still looking really good!
I will put Pirelli Corsa tyre on for next trip to the nurburgring.

Impressive driving! How are the tires/ brakes holding up to all this track driving with such a heavy car? Would you concider semi- slicks or perhaps wider tyres next time?
Thanks! Brakes have 0 wear, the N pedal helps so much here. They also didnt overheat yet, even after 2 full laps of Nurburgring.
Tires are also very good, Pirelli did an amazing job developing a tire for the Ioniq 5N.
Sidewalls hold up extremly well considering the weight of the car.
Now after 15 laps ( with slides ) and 5000km in total they still look very decent!
I will change to Pirelli Corsa tire now in same size ( 275/35/21 ) as it will be better on track.
And keep the OE Pzero PZ4 tire for daily driving

@@annemllerpetersen1929 That was my biggest fear as well! But both brakes and tires are doing better than on my previous I30N 😅I will be back at the ring 13-15/06 with the Corsa tire and some new footage ✌
I highly suggest Continental Sport Contact 7 when the time for new tires comes. That's after testing on the Taycan GTS.
I tried those on my I30N and the sidewalls got worn after some laps on track, the grip was amazing tho!

5N (and your driving) is really impressive.
Yes 25% full push lap, its 20% with 1 yellow flag or heavy traffic! 3 laps on 1 charge is no problem, 4 is tight 😄
I’ve been looking like crazy to change the wheels to something smaller but no succes yet ( at least nothing affordable atm ) I will probably go for BBS wheels also in 21’. Thanks!!
@@Benp5NFeels like a waste to get new wheels if you're not going to at least step down to 20" ones.
From an aerodynamics perspective smaller wheels are always better when it comes to aerodynamics, though the factory Ioniq 5N wheels are pretty aerodynamic even if they are 21 inches, so if you're getting less aerodynamic BBS wheels and not even stepping down in size that will result in overall worse aerodynamics.
The negatives would probably outweigh the slightly lower weight in that case, nevermind that new wheels aren't exactly free.

@@Benp5N Sounds good, just try to get one that isn't completely open with thin spokes, sadly the aftermarket for good aerodynamic wheels is still small as the aerodynamics of wheels isn't really something people have thought much about until now, so understand that finding that might be hard, it can definitely affect the top-speed of a car.
Wheel drag stands for a large part of the entire drag of a car and a good rim can easily give you a couple extra kilometers per hour top speed.
I would've personally went for 19" just because that'll be the best for performance on the Nurburgring, understand that might be hard to fit depending on clearance to the brake rotors though.
Edit: have confirmed 19" won't fit on Ioniq 5N. Saw on Reddit that an owner managed to fit the 20" wheels from an Ioniq 5 AWD however.

@@jakubkrcma without traffic it would be the same. On this lap i pushed hard also with drifts etc. If I use NGB boost it would be a bit more maybe. Without battery regen it can be 30%

You should have left the torque split to 50-50, you lost power in the straight. Anyway, under 8 in such a traffic is great! lets see what Hyundai bring with the 6N.
