    Hearing Majel Barrett again legit made me cry a little bit. That whole scene on the bridge of Enterprise-D was probably one of my favorite in the entire franchise. It was like seeing an old childhood friend for the first time in over 20 years.

      I hadn't realized how much I'd missed that ship and that crew and dear gods how much I missed Majel's computer. I literally cried for over an hour. This is what it must have been like for firt gen trekkers seeing the 1701-A for the first time.

      It was so amazing to see the crew back where they belonged again. My wife and I met as a direct result of TNG's influence on our lives, so quite literally, without it we would not be here - 24 years (20 married) and 2 kids later. Emotional was not the word! Just fantastic this season and I'm so sad we only have 1 more to go. Not bad mouthing seasons 1 and 2 - but man, I could have done with three seasons of THIS!

      I assume the clip of Majel Barret is from the THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS episode at the end when Jellico gives Picard his ship back. But I did not actually go back and check.
      Could also be from All Good Things when we see Picard first take command of the Enterprise but I don't think we see him use the computer to do it.

      Hit me the same Matthew. My dad got me into Star Trek with the Kirk films, but TNG was our weekend "Bonding" ritual. We'd watch the episodes every week and went from TNG to DS9 to Voyager and then Enterprise together (with the films in between). This Episode had me crying. My parents introduced me to Star Trek, Both loved the original but me and my father had a strong bond over TNG. Mother liked it but it was me and my dad that watched it a lot as I grew up. When my father passed away me and my mother often talked about Star Trek reminiscing about my late father. We watched all the movies and my mother took me to every Star Trek movie after my father passed away. In 2022 on Feb 3rd my mother passed away having myself being the last fan of Star Trek left in my family. This episode brought back so many good memories of me and my parents and I know deep in my heart they would have loved it as much as I did. Thank you so much mom and dad for introducing me to my favorite series and I hope you two are exploring that final frontier together. When my time also comes I hope I can join you and we can explore the galaxy together. I love you and miss you both every day.

      It seems to be a running trend in Starfleet during this time period, which actually I think speaks volumes about starfleet and it's humanity and the world today. Humans always think they know better or can fix the error that led to a bad result. The battle in prodigy could of sparked an idea like " of all the ships talk we might be more effective explorers and if necessary a battle group" we can make sure the negatives won't happen.
      Or look at it another way, in s2 use of Borg tech allowed for easy take over of the fleet. Use of that tech could be influenced by voyages time in the delta quadrant. The tech in isolation of 1 ship worked great but was a risk in the fleet. It's very human to do something with out thinking if we should.

    • @arch1017
      @arch1017 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oh, 100%.
      This, the transporter modifications and gathering the fleet were all huge parts of the Borg's plans - the Changeling infiltrators will have replaced/killed anyone who stood in the way of all these things happening.

    17:40 Hey Sean, I think what you are missing is that the changelings infiltrated the upper echelons of Starfleet and in those positions of power, they would be able to silence or cover up any objections to the fleet gathering and software upgrade concerns of other senior officers. Ro Laren mentioned that she was blocked and Geordi mentioned he was stymied when he voiced his concerns. Starfleet wasn't being stupid, they were being controlled.

    One of the best moments in this episode is where Data attempts to comfort Picard and after noticing how hurt he is Data just simply puts his hand on his shoulder. It's such a remarkably simple gesture but tells so much about the characters, especially Data. Old TNG Data would have just kept talking and attempting to comfort Picard by brute forcing a conversation or employing techniques in his database of comforting actions. Instead this Data has finally reached a level of emotional maturity and human understanding that he knows that sometimes the greatest thing you can do to help a friend in crisis, when no words can help, is to simply let them know you're there and an act as small as putting your hand on their shoulder can be enough. Something the old Data would never have understood or been able to do. Great stuff.

The only logical outcome would be for Jurati & Good Borg to support Enterprise in the final battle.

For instance Worf is wearing yellow division colours and not red, as he changed to yellow in the second season and never at least in the prime line changed to red. They also focused on the painting in the first episode a little too hard. The reference in ten forward and even Picards old TNG comm badge. I really thought they naught CGI it, but no. I checked the last episode of Enterprise where they did CGI the Enterprise D and it had both of its saucer impulse engines glowing. Same with the CGI models of the other Galaxy Class ships. On the show they only lit up when the ship separated and they only filmed that three times all with the six foot model. Now say the six foot model, as that was what they used in Generations and the same reason they destroyed the D as it is hard to find with for the big screen. The markings on the saucer are almost identical to those after it crashed.

I'd assume that the Fleet Museum probably is operating under similar ideas as modern museums and that's why La Forge had the freedom to discard the later additions to the bridge. After all, they were only part of the ship for a short time before it was destroyed, and so not really native to the ship's main period of significance.

    -I kind of love the fact that LaForge never updated the 1701-D’s database after the crash on Veridian III. It seems very LaForge to rebuild her to fully operational specifications for the hell of it, but also keep her frozen at that point in time.
    -While the 1701-D’s saucer is going to mostly be upgraded in service 1st generation Galaxy-class, if the Syracuse was one of the Dominion War Galaxies, or even just a later generation model, it probably has an updated warp core and heavier weaponry on the stardrive section. We may get a bit of a souped-up 1701-D.
    -The confirmation that Worf got his fourth pip as Captain of the 1701-E was a nice touch.
    +Considering that the 1701-E was repairable after using the front edge of her saucer to slash a hole in another ship makes me wonder just what in Sto’Vo’Kor Worf did to the 1701-E.

    This whole season has really been hitting me in the feels as they say. This has a feeling of coming home for me. From the Enterprise-D, the homage to TOS movies with the Titan's design, to seeing the crew back in place. The Enterprise was the last main cast member to set in place for the finale, and this whole season is a wonderful love letter to Star Trek as a whole.

    • @common_c3nts
      @common_c3nts ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything about this episode was awful except the Enterprise D part. S3 was fantastic until they went lazy with making DNA borg.
      The borg have no telepath abilities, they use technology to communicate. Jurati Borg would have known everything about DNA borg and Jack so she would have warned Picard. DNA Borg make no sense and ignoring S2 makes no sense. Transporters do not replace DNA with every beam out with a "template" as transporters transport any species, any material, and almost any kind of technology. They dont have "templates" of everything. That goes against everything from past star trek.
      Killing off Shaw was horrible, do they not want legacy characters anymore like what they just did with TNG???
      The only fix to all of this right now is to time travel or have this all be Picard's dream from when he was dying in S1.

    • @ShearWater509
      @ShearWater509 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@common_c3nts I had some similar thoughts. I wonder if there are multiple Borg "hives" that don't necessarily communicate with each other. I would challenge your assumption that Borg are not telepathic or at least don't have telepathic abilities. We saw hints of this in the Voyager episode when the Borg Cooperative was established. You could make the argument that telepathy is just a biological form of Wi-fi. They've certainly assimilated telepathic species, so maybe they've found a way to integrate their abilities.

    As a software developer I was just blown away and ELATED at the transporter code hack. They explained it well enough that any normal person can understand it, but it was also presented in a way that was SO damn plausible from a programming standpoint. Most software as we know it today is written with certain patterns in order to make the code reusable and - as a result - more efficient. For the devs reading this, I'm of course talking about OOP.
    The idea that the Borg managed to compromise the base class DLL of transporter code and insert a trojan horse malware is just... *chef's kiss* SO GOOD. And the transporter of all things, the perfect marriage of biology and technology working as one is just SO SOMETHING A BORG WOULD DO!

    I screamed & cheered at the Borg reveal, because after thinking of all the clues in the season, that was what I thought made the most sense, and they did it. Passing on Locutus was Picard's worst nightmare. The red eyes and all as misdirect suggesting the Pah Wraiths was fantastic. I'm in awe of the writing this season - the way they combed through past shows and movies for tiny throwaway lines & then used them as threads to weave into this plot. Crusher saying "his DNA is being rewritten," in BoBW 2 became the whole centerpoint of this story. Plus they explained why he could hear them in First Contact. Wonderfully conceived, crafted and performed.
    That Riker STILL hates Shelby gave me life! LOL I'm a blubbery mess each time I watch the D reveal. Even being sure that was what was in Hanger 12, they way they did it just could not have been more perfect.
    Now HOW do they conclude this in an hour?! I think Rafi/7 being on the Titan is key. They were closest to Jurati at end of Sea. 2. Will they call on her? Who else but Borg could beat Borg? The TNG crew will save Jack somehow. It's going to be crazy!
