That's why they should try to keep all of the actors portraying teens to one age group (either 18 and over or actual teenagers under 18 playing under 18s). It gets weird when all of your teenager characters are played by actors in their 20s when the youngest in the group is an actual 14 year old.
I know, it's annoying but good for the actor. now i wish lily collins played jenny instead (she auditioned) we would've gotten Nate/Jenny longer because they were just soooo cute and had so much chemistry than all the others (except chair ofc but theyre chair)
Finally. Nate needed a rewrite. I did prefer him being alone at the end so he can focus on himself rather than being a relationship who wasn't right for him.
My next suggestion is Bonnie Bennett from the Vampire Diaries universe. She quite literally went from token black magical girl to the writer's punching bag/fix-it all problem solver, and when they finally deign to give her an actual second relationship after her weird years-long on-off thing with her best friend's little brother, they kill her boyfriend for plot stuff. So she ends up alone traveling, while all of her other friends get significantly better endings.
Nate deserved better. His character arc getting mostly brushed aside diminished the appeal of the show. And Dan was never clever enough to be Gossip Girl. I always thought it was really Jenny and Dan was trying to protect his sister.
It didn't help that at some point in Season 2 Nate got pushed to the background compared to the other main characters and became little more than appearing in other people's stories. He very much became a supporting character.
was I the only one that was a nate and vanessa fan? i thought they were great and had a groundedness to their relationship. i was so upset when they were suddenly broken up with little to no explanation
This was an Incredible Masterpiece for Nate Archibald My Fourth Favorite Character on Gossip Girl and Chance Crawford did an Incredible Performance bringing this Awesome and Complex Character to life.
Okay everyone it's gonna be a shocking truth but I never say down to watch gossip girl because I never paid any attention to the show plus it was at the time they canceled veronica Mars after season 3
I like Nate and Jenny together and I did not like him and Vanessa together. I felt like the vibe was very forced and I felt like she should’ve just left him alone after so many times of being unavailable. and I also didn’t understand how he start talking to Vanessa when she did jenny dirty. Granted what jenny did was worse, but they catty stuff to each other.. it was like oh you’re wrong but I’m gonna date you because you’re wrong is more appealing… that shit just didn’t make sense to me he should’ve just stopped talking to both of them if he was based in his decision or merit

Every time I rewatch GG I think to myself "Nate was done so dirty, he deserved so much better"
