Great Video Raynday! I agree with you all the way. When ever I try to help out other members of my team, I try my best to be as nice as possible. I have another way that helps improve the communication in game. That way is by making some sort of joke during the game or by giving people on my team a complement. It may not help win games, but it does help my team and I have good time. And at the end of the day it is not about who wins or loses, it is about having a good time while playing a game of Smite. So go out there and have yourself a great day and have some fun!

Great advice, I can't tell you how much criticism and hatemail I receive in Smite, especially in Conquest. I am by no means a great player but I play the game because I enjoy it. As a side note, What is this music playing in your video, Raynday?

Love the video. There are definitely some times I can think back to where I could've done a better job communicating with my team in what I was hoping for. I'm not the type to be aggressive or complain even if they mess up but I can still think of a few situations where I would've at least made it better with communication. I do have to ask you though... there are a few... rare special snowflakes, who even if you do communicate with (positively) they get belligerent and ignore you. One time we had a Hel who was feeding her ass off to a mercury and he was about to ult her and she was at the front of her tower. I just politely told her that if she stood behind the tower his ult wouldn't hit her. He/she proceeded to troll the entire match because of that one piece of advice.. I had a kukulkan a few days ago who kept aggressing the enemy when we were backed to base buying items.. I'd show up and he'd be almost dead and I'd try to save him. Of course me trying to save him from an entire team of people meant we'd both die since he'd be almost dead when I showed up.. I got put behind in levels because he was clearing waves while we were back at base (joust map sorry) and building stacks and then aggressing immediately before we'd get there.. this meant I got no wave farm and kept dying trying to save him. Asking him to stop doing it wasn't enough, and he proceeded to tell me I needed to farm (duh). When I explained I couldn't because he kept clearing the waves and aggressing he got mad and told me I was useless..Then immediately picked a fight against all 3 again by the red buff. I decided instead to farm wave instead of getting myself killed again.. and he complained that I stayed to farm instead of helping him. I just honest to god have no idea how to deal with people like this. Literally nothing you can do will make them happy.
Good video Raynday. I kinda already take the kind aproach whenever I'm teaching people tricks in smite, and like you said its a lot better than getting angry at the person. XD also, you probably hear this a lot, but you have an awesome voice. It makes these videos that much better. 👏

Ya know... I've tried this approach, both in Smite and LoL. And I'm met with resistance no matter what. "I know how to play my character!" is my usual received response. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do. They don't wanna hear it.
I do know what you are talking about with the communication between players being so different. I was playing smite a while back with a friend and his wife however he had mentioned how her Neithe was a little poor at the time. as I looked over her build from a previous game I suggested why not armour or hp to her build. however it did not come across like this. It came across as if I sundered the heavens wide and said with the pompous and all knowing voice "She must build with armour and HP to help boost her sustainability" not what I meant however it did cause a rift and we don't play smite together anymore.
I wish I had seen this b4 hand lol. might have kept my smite plays alive if only a little while longer. 😅.
But yes I do agree it is how you put thing because I am starting to see that each individual in front of you or playing with you may communicate differently. even people you have known for a long time can communicate differently even thru thier mood.

Dylan Rehman I get Brazilians and Russians on NA, idiots get mad when I don't speak it but yet they're in the wrong damn region. That's for PC but on PS4 everyone speaks Spanish too.
Hey I know this is not what the video is about, but in the video you built 3 crit items where 1 of them was rage. Especially in this situation getting Rage over wind demon is a waste. Because rage increases your chance of getting a crit by 20% each time you do not crit. Now if your base crit chance is 60%, and you don't crit, mathematically seen your next auto attack should crit. You don't need rage to be stacking and giving you that extra 20% crit chance. Anyways great video once again.

I definitely enjoyed the video, but I would like to make a request about another one. How can one communicate effectively with teammates on consold, where our VGS is... subpar, to put it politely?

You should do a video on Consumables. They seem almost useless because they don't heal or give mana fast enough to matter (at least as far as I've seen) and I just can't figure out how they're supposed to be used. They almost always seem to be a waste of money (Wards excluded of course).
Communication is important, sure, and I try to use the VGS as much as possible. On PS4 I use it all the time, as I'm familiar with it. On PC a bit less because all those buttons though. .-.
But it's not just you that needs to communicate, it's the other people that need to LISTEN to your communication.
Scenario: You are solo lane, your solo lane enemy runs of in the jungle, and you call "MIA left". Nobody does anything.
You then spot that solo lane enemy go to middle through a ward. You say "Retreat middle", and instead of retreating, your middle laner just pushes ahead anyway, and then gets killed.
And if your middle laner is a complete D he'll blame you for it as well and spam "You rock!" 10 times or will spam "MIA left" as if you never called it.
It goes both ways, and usually it goes wrong on the receiving end of things.

Can you make a video on common late game mistakes? I am finding that while I am a very strong player early-mid game, I am a mess in the late game. I have made some horrendous play calls and am constantly being caught out of position, or just being beaten in lane/team fights
Couldn,t agree more...I know some people that although they are great smite players have a hard time finding team mates that want to play with them because they trashtalk anyone that makes an error...I have WAY more succes with other people that just hang out and individual they arent the best but with team work overcome basicly anything and when error are made they dont get trashed for it...They just get some advice on what to do or like Raynday says switch tactics.
This is really important and helpful, but sometimes players don't listen or know how to use VGS and result in them diving and other times might not read chat at all.
How to make the situation less worse?
My only question is and I know it's a dumb question but how do you swap gods after picking them in ranked/console

When i play smite I'm usually with a my group of friends and we do pretty well, however, one of them always disregards our calls and they won't take any advice on combos they should be using with that God or how to build them. That person seems to drag us down a bit in terms of winning and I would like to know if there's any way you think I could get him to listen and let us help him out. Thanks for all the great content!

I actually used this before watching the video! Had a very salty Athena going in alone and I flipped my mic on (console) and just said 'hey man, if you stick with us we can turn it around. going in alone is getting you killed.' he said No over VGS. then I said 'it's cool if that's what you wanna think, I'm just trying to help you out.' couple seconds later VGS ok. Yea came back and ALMOST won. he apologized via message by saying he had a bad day of smite.

i can relate to the athena i was on 10 game losing streak and i went to play with my diamond bae(Nemesis) then i had a shit game and was down right salty teying to carry till the sude say group up be careful and move on his command. Normally people like that are just salty not usually di*ks.

Warrior, frostbound, breastplate/hide of the meme an lion depending on the other teams comp. if they have multiple auto attack based gods then go hide. Get a magical defensive item/hybrid such as hide of the urchin if they don't have a lot of magical damage. From here you can either go exe with qins for more damage, really someone will do this only ahead if they're ahead, normally people will only build a qins die damage then defense.

As people can see, this video have lots of common sense in it and if people use this a bit more, it'll sure be a better place to play and actually the way you did your video title is tilting me because you pretty much cancelled the possibilities for people to complain about your advices ; such as : "yeah, that's cool to do that but it only works if people wanna listen to what you are saying, because if i do so but people are just there to troll or just leave because they failed what they were trying twice in a row; or even full premade that doesn't care at all about the random they are with, it will never works".
BUT as i said, your title says : "improving communication and win MORE", and so, on those points, you are absolutly right and i can pretty much guarantee that no one can say something about what you said because as i said, it is pure common sense and of course it is the way to have a good communication and so having a better chance to win, thus, winning more often.

The whole thing about the way things are said is entirely correct. I've had multiple occurrences where I'll see someone struggling with a god that I play often, and I'll say, "Hey, can I make a suggestion?" and they'll be open to it, and try the suggestion. I've had people thank me for the suggestion because I'm polite about it, and thus, they like to listen. It's like, "Hey, Hades, may I make a suggestion?" "Sure, go ahead." "Try starting with Hide of the Urchin. It'll give you health and protections early on that'll help you in the long run."

This is a great vid. Can't wait for my group to learn from this. But I do have a question: What should I do when dealing with know-it-alls who freak out and rage when you're just trying to politely help them improve? I haven't been playing longer then 5 months and your "How to be a better ___" videos have really helped me to fill what the teams I play on need to get that great team comp. But 1 stubborn person trying to play mages like warriors or guardians like assassins is really hurting us. So once again what should I do or try to get through to him and help him improve?
Well, when you say that they're playing mage like warriors or guardians what do you mean? full tank? or do they have one or two defense Items?

+RIPPER9982 some guardian can get away with building full power, Ymir is a big culprit of this, as for mages, having a defense item isn't bad I get Hide of the Urchin myself.
+ZionGamer I mean he'll try to use Ares as a full damage Mage or go into a 1v5 with Hel and leave his Warrior and Guardian without understanding how to retreat even with us telling him to retreat 4-5 times for a team fight

After hitting level 30 I've been getting games with much better players, maybe it will be the same for you.

Earlier this year raynday did some videos on how to be a better assassin, Mage, warrior, etc. guardian(support) was on that list. You may have already watched it, but as a person who sucks as support XD, I found it very useful

+Mr Patch why are you so negative? Games are just like many sports. Nobody is naturally good at them, everybody starts out bad. Everybody has to LEARN. As a most likely experienced player, it becomes your responsibility to take the knowledge you have learned and pass it down to newer players. And as raynday said in the vid, I have met extensive amounts of players who are very knowledgeable about SMITE but take all of this knowledge for granted and do not let other people learn from them. Every time I am in a game whether playing with my friends or alone, if I see a new player struggling, I'll try to help them out, give them some tips on the strengths of their God, ways to improve playing their role, to even some tips to preventing death and snowballing. If you do see a player having trouble, instead of saying "git gud" try to help them out and improve their gameplay for a better experience for everyone.
