This man resurrects the type of hope in my that I thought was buried and never to arise years ago. He is classified as country and, rock but I was so astounded by his massive talent that if I had to describe him to someone without being certain of the exact genre he falls into I'd just say " Appallingly underrated soulful and as far as I can tell possesses a southern twang." I'm blown away.
First off: this song is absolutely amazing, my favorite off the album and I hope it dropkicks Robert into the national scene and makes him richer than he ever even knows what to do with because I love it and the dude so much. That being said, I kinda keep coming back to this version over the album version, though that may just be because I heard this one first. Either way, Viva Robert Ellis
It was a long way to go From Louisiana to??? With everything that they own Boxed up in the back of a van She would've gone to the moon If that's what it took to follow him It's funny what love makes you do Standing alone There in the kitchen she's packing up plates again Standing alone She is remembering every fight with him Thinking alone "What am I doing here in this ghost town?" Now that he's gone There isn't a reason for me to stick around And she says, Maybe I'll move to California With the unbroken part of my heart I still have left Maybe I'll fall in love again some day I'm not gonna hold my breath I'm not gonna hold my breath Which way to go When every road leads away from the things you wanted Which way you go When every memory is built like a home that's haunted Closing your eyes Dream of a place where things turn out the way you planned it Everything dies Dream of a place where the living resides again And she says, Maybe I'll move to California With the unbroken part of my heart I still have left Maybe I'll fall in love again some day I'm not gonna hold my breath I'm not gonna hold my breath Maybe I'll move to California With the unbroken part of my heart I still have left Maybe I'll fall in love some day Maybe I'll move to California With the unbroken part of my heart I still have left Maybe I'll fall in love again some day I'm not gonna hold my breath I'm not gonna hold my breath I'm not gonna hold my breath
I thought Robert Ellis is a traditional country music singer especially when he was with Emmylou Harris singing Crying Time. He looks good singing country music and I love country music

Heart this song on Roots Radio in Nashville. Fell in love with the musical lyricism.
Just saw his show at Larimer Lounge, Denver. Fantastic!

Love this song! Surprised not to find the lyrics on any sites....
It was a long way to go
From Louisiana to???
With everything that they own
Boxed up in the back of a van
She would've gone to the moon
If that's what it took to follow him
It's funny what love makes you do
Standing alone
There in the kitchen she's packing up plates again
Standing alone
She is remembering every fight with him
Thinking alone
"What am I doing here in this ghost town?"
Now that he's gone
There isn't a reason for me to stick around
And she says,
Maybe I'll move to California
With the unbroken part of my heart
I still have left
Maybe I'll fall in love again some day
I'm not gonna hold my breath
I'm not gonna hold my breath
Which way to go
When every road leads away from the things you wanted
Which way you go
When every memory is built like a home that's haunted
Closing your eyes
Dream of a place where things turn out the way you planned it
Everything dies
Dream of a place where the living resides again
And she says,
Maybe I'll move to California
With the unbroken part of my heart
I still have left
Maybe I'll fall in love again some day
I'm not gonna hold my breath
I'm not gonna hold my breath
Maybe I'll move to California
With the unbroken part of my heart
I still have left
Maybe I'll fall in love some day
Maybe I'll move to California
With the unbroken part of my heart
I still have left
Maybe I'll fall in love again some day
I'm not gonna hold my breath
I'm not gonna hold my breath
I'm not gonna hold my breath

Live in California, you wouldn't want the women here
Jokes aside beautiful song, Robert Ellis is an amazing artist.
not trying to sound snide, but it's a narrative about the woman moving to California. Not him
