You guys are a breath of fresh air! Thank you! I love the idea of sliced potato rather than mash - you could even slice them a little more thinly and layer them with cheese between layers, to make the end result a little more decadent! Just as long as the cheese didn't overpower the fish! Thank you again for your channel and content!
Skinning fish with wet hands and no fingers nails, I find holding the tail skin down on the board with a fork for the first couple of strokes works well. Wonderful Pollock and tasty meal. Thanks for the video it helps with the stir crazy days.

So once again thanks for sharing. Hey guys love your channel.! I am a member since 1985 of the underwater centre at Ft. Bovisand in plymouth where I qualified to dive the rigs and live up in Aberdeen thru the 90s. My wife is from Bramhan village in West Yorkshire. We met on a blind date while I was going to dive college in los Angeles. Have fond memories of Cornwall and Plymouth. Was on a boat called Praxis when we dove in the harbor. We now live on family farm in Kentucky USA and catch freshwater SeaBass from Lake Cumberland similar to your Pollock. Cheers Lad!!

I really enjoyed this vid, your wife is very good at giving cooking instructions and it was fun to watch. You gave very through instructions for making a great filet, thank you both.😁 I will be making this for my family.
That fish was given the greatest of respect, there's nothing worse than seeing someone butcher a beautiful fish. A lovely bit of filleting sir. I used to go down to Pendennis Point in Falmouth with my brothers and uncle when I was a child, and we always went home with pollack, lovely. Just simply shallow fried, very fresh and delicious. Yum. :-)
worms = protein 😁 Another great video. Cant get enough of these. Nicely shot in one of of my most favorite places on earth. Packed full of information that's straight to the point
When skinning I moved to having the fish parallel to the edge of the table and you get more leverage and free movement on the knife. great vid as always
Very good instructions for filleting a fish. I've never actually done it myself, since in Asian culture it's typical to gut the fish, then steam or pan fry it whole (or cut it in half if it's too big for the pot).
Trainzguy2472 - We do that with some species like bream. Generally if it’s a smaller fish of fiddley to fillet it’s steamed whole. Bigger ones are easier to fillet I guess. 😉🍽🐟
great video again, getting creative in the kitchen is a good way of using all this spare time, try adding a bit of English mustard with the sauce it really brings out the cheese and also yellows the sauce, hopefully not long before we can all get out again
Brilliant. For me a few garden peas from my freezer minus the cheese and it's perfect.Peas are at a premium this time of year because they are always intrical in my carp fishing.
Another fine educational video not only on filleting but in cooking an easy recipe!!! I swear I could smell and nearly taste it from here in the states! I'm guessing that would be delicious with crab and/or lobster instead of the fish as well! Yum!!!! ❤ 🐟🦀🦂

Hi John, if you haven’t got any fingernails for skinning your pollock, grip the tail with a fork and allow your knife to slide off the fork under the skin and continue to seesaw the knife to the end to remove the skin 👍🏻. thanks for the video, love your vlog, keep them coming. Regards Jimf 🏴
Pollack is so good! Ok im in the mood for fish so pollack is what im gonna get. This looks so good im gonna add shrimp cause they are on sale. Thank you such a good video i enjoyed it. That fresh air looks refreshing on the boat ⛵
- That is one of the wonderful things about simple recipes like this. They can be adapted to suit what you have or what you like so easily. Take care and enjoy your day. :)
love the expressions; 'holy molly size of that fish', 'doing this one handed so may have wobbly camera' reminds me so much of younger years. My grandmother poached smoked haddock when we were youngsters, she loved it and even then I was interested on how the 'fisherman' caught smoked haddock vs regular kind :) Fab looking dish to try out Hanna, thanks!
Fish pie 😊 Always one of my favourites, well done Mrs FL that looked simple and delicious. My Mum when we were kids used to make the Cheese Sauce (minus the fish) just like you did and we'd have it on toast for tea. 🤗
Great video noticed slightly different from filleting cod, you do make it look so easy. The recipe looks great and easy to follow I hope you don't mind me sharing an alternative with you. Instead of making a rue add 1 tin Campbell condensed mushroom soup (when you can get it!) but only dilute it with half the normal amount of water apart from that no changes to your recipe. Just love the taste of mushrooms especially with fish. Thanks for keeping us entertained in these difficult times and take care.
David B. Thanks for your suggestion but mushrooms are the devil food 🤢 and we had to use what ingredients we had available as we aren’t able to leave the house at the moment. Stay safe 🎣👍🏻

The Fish Locker like Keith Floyd or Rick Stein. In a lot of they’re videos they go out catch a fish and cook it. It’s educational and that fish pie looked spot on. Dave Wilkinson - I think I would always be a little worried. But I guess there’s no reason if you cook it thoroughly. 👍🏻
Yum Yum Mrs. Fishlocker.
jason manning - She is pretty tasty isn’t she. 😊
What a belting pollack that was John....thnx for the vid mate....now it’s all round to your place for one of Mrs Fishlocker’s terrific fish dishes...take care and stay safe guys....Bob (IOW)
Jan Bundell - It was a cracking fish wasn’t it. And tasted bloomin delicious!! Take care and give our love to your good lady. 😊👍🏻🍽🐟

starshinesoldier - It is our pleasure. Thank you and take care. 😊👍🏻
That dish looks delish!!
It was amazing!
One handed roux - well done, amazing
- She is very talented. Even with only one hand. :)
looks so nice and the fish pie lol cheers another class vid
robert mansfield Thanks Rob. Stay safe 🎣
That's a really good shout with the fork. I'll remember that.
Wish I had the fishing opportunities you have. And a lovely wife like yours to cook the catch! Stay safe and well Fishlocker family!👍
Simon Morris Hi Simon. We hope you’re safe too. Thank you for watching 🎣👍🏻
Malcolm Bennett - Haha. Like smokey bacon vs regular bacon. 😛
There is a reason why fisherman don’t catch smoked fish............The smoke gets in the fishes eyes and they can’t see the bait on the hooks!,
Pollock is not haddock lol
Annabel The Unicorn - Yes but I wish it was. 😛🍽
Fish pie 😊 Always one of my favourites, well done Mrs FL that looked simple and delicious. My Mum when we were kids used to make the Cheese Sauce (minus the fish) just like you did and we'd have it on toast for tea. 🤗
RicTic66 I could eat it like soup but it was delicious with the fish 🎣
looks very good nice job!
- I love this recipe. Simple and yet delicious. :D
That is a dandy Pollock. Excellent filleting demo. 👍 The pie looks delicious! Wonder how it would work inside potato pasties.
Kowboy USA It was a beauty fish. Never had it inside pasties... I’ll let you try that first 😂😂🎣🎣
well done , Beautiful Job , looks so delicious . Can't wait to make it myself ..Thank You
Rhiannon Silverstone - Thank you Rhiannon it really was delicious. You’ll have to let us know how yours tastes. 😊🍽
Stay safe 🎣👍🏻
so you don't like mushrooms then?@@TheFishLocker
David B. - Nope. Fungus is not on the menu in our home. 😛

Looks so delicious.
Josh Kelley - It really is Josh. Simple and delicious. 😊🍽
My dad had had me doing that from a young age (and my sister) still to this day he makes us look like idiots. 😂 good job 👍 you should move this channel on to a catch and cook video. Anyway whatever you decide I’m sure it will work out. Top man keep safe. Keep drinking hot drinks people it kills the virus.
Whoop Whoop - How do you mean I should move the channel onto a catch and cook video?
The Fish Locker like Keith Floyd or Rick Stein. In a lot of they’re videos they go out catch a fish and cook it. It’s educational and that fish pie looked spot on. (Just an idea) you don’t have to take my advice. 🤣...my wife never does and she’s never wrong (apparently) 🤔...anyway keep up the good work I’ve got a few people to subscribe to your Chanel.
You should come to Florida one day you will love the variety of sea life here.
Phillip - Philip we would love to. But right now we aren’t even aloud to leave the house 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Mmmm looks so good.
Gayland McLean - It really is. And so simple. 😉🍽
