Norms down to earth nature is truly unmatched not one build you'll ever find him talk down to the viewer which is truly not the case in most programs that try to do the same thing .
"If I can do it, you can do it"? Yeah right! Mr. Abram, I really admire your humility, and the sheer genius that makes it look easy when you do the most complex things. Peace, and respect. 🙏
I was watching and thought exactly that... every man has a moment on occasion where you realize a measurement was off, math was wrong, drill hole angle, etc.
These videos were made 20 years ago, Norm is 74 now. I don't know if he is still building, but I'ld like to believe he is. I've never been a fan of "antiquing" I think these works of art should age naturally but either way they were beautiful and likely still are though with some natural age.
Both operations can be done in a home shop. Bending wood that thick takes some talent and patience. The walnut shell blasting can be done with a cheap sand blasting unit and a compressor.
I’d don’t know if I would say great chair because being it’s a two parter means that this is super tough to build! Especially the back rest with all those dowels! However all other parts like the crest rail and the seat and the legs are super straight forward!
How about another behind New Yankee Workshop YT channel update? I enjoyed the ‘we’ story of delivering the HDD to Russ with the shows on it. Can be anything whether its update YT stats or common comments Q&A. They feel timeless to me so hope many young woodworkers are enjoying them. Really appreciate the ‘library’ being uploaded to YT!
Now before we do any woodworking, let’s talk about shop safety. Be sure to read, understand, and follow all the safety rules that come with your power tools. Knowing how to use your power tools properly will greatly reduce the risk of personal injury. And remember this: There is no more important safety rule, than to wear these, safety glasses. Warning: Every time you repeat what Norm says about shop safety, you will not need to repeat it on the comments because it will get reported to TH-cam as “misinformation”! You can comment something else like fantastic project or Norm that’s beautiful! @@mrpiccolo23 That’s fine if everyone else wants to make comments. Wow, that is a tough build.
It is amazing that they were able to make them so well back in the day.
Truly craftsmanship.

Don't put yourself down. This show is made for us to be able to do it.
Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. I am proud to own several of Norm's projects.
Of all the NYW projects this is my favorite. Nicely done.
Agree! The visit with the chairmaker was great!
One of my all time favorite episodes! I’d love to make one
This man is absolutely amazing at woodworking
They make some amazing chairs. The Philadelphia fanback in tiger maple is a beautiful chair. They all are truth be told.
I wonder if Norm ever made a mistake, muttered something while tossing the piece across the shop, and then deleted the footage and started over again.
Never 😂😂
i doubt it he isn’t the type. what you see is what you got.
While I doubt he got so upset that he threw anything across the shop, you can bet money he dropped more than one piece in the trash and started over.
We can neither confirm or deny 😅...

I agree on the subject of "antiquing" or "distressing".
Great looking chair, thanks Norm!
Wait, so steam bending requires equipment that most home shops won't have, but blasting with walnut shells is no big deal?😂

Norm has steam-bent before, and that piece could also be laminated. I get the joke you're making though.
Now I just want to eat walnuts

Russ passed away a few months ago and Norm retired. I think the maintainer of the channel will upload the rest of the videos and that's it.
@@mrpiccolo23 Correct… and after Russ passed away they shared a story of this channel becoming.
@@patricksquires77 I misunderstood your comment, my apologies.
These programs must've been edited cause as he's building he tosses back to Bill's shop.
Yes, editing is part of making a TV show.
This chair is gonna play nicely with the Tap Table that you've made, huh Norm? It does look beautiful, don't you think?
The Tap Table is actually the last original build of the show. Season 21 was a "Best of" episodes.

Why would anyone want to make one of those?
You could say that about anything anyone makes. They make them because they enjoy making them and people want to buy them. Crazy thing to say.
