    I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all of your helpful information and resources. I’ve watched so many of your videos and life your TPT products. I just got an offer from my top choice school district (the one I sub for) yesterday! My school district has declining enrollment so they were hiring fewer teachers than normal. Even with the increased competition, I truly feel that having a prepared portfolio to leave with the interviewer gave me an advantage because they could look through it and learn even more about me after the interview. So excited to start my first year of teaching next school year ❤

    I love that you recommend subbing! Some of the more competitive positions in our area fill quickly so subbing is a way to get your foot in the door. Most subs here can work 5 days a week or may even get a long-term position.

    This is interesting to watch. I'm starting an alternative A certification course in a few weeks, and once I've started I'm going for emergency certification (the program km going through allows you to teach while you are in the program, and there are scholarships available within our districts if you choose to do this. I can't wait to see how my process will differ, but I think your tips are going to help me be more prepared, so thank you!

    Thank you so much for all this valuable information. I am going to be a first year teacher and in my city it’s so hard to get a job at the city district because everyone knows it is an amazing place to work at. I created a teaching portfolio and used it at my interviews. I was offered a teaching position! I will be teaching first grade! I’m so excited I can’t wait! 😊

    Your tips are spot on! I’m definitely sharing this video with my friends who are starting their process now! I’ve done a lot of interview prep with students preparing for those interviews and they come off so much stronger than others because they did their homework! I help with a career boot camp for my college, and it is so engaging. I’m going to stress the thank you notes to my friends because a good first impression is just as important as the last impression after the interview!

    I just got hired to teach next year at the school where I am currently an aide. I agree fully that subbing or working at the school is a good way to get hired. Because our school is a special needs school for students with sever special needs, having a knowledge of the students and how the school runs was essential to give me a leg up. Also having proven my work ethic and how I work with students and staff was so key to getting my dream job. I do like your ideas and if I apply for a nother position I will use many of them.

    This is perfect timing. Most of your tips and tricks will work for what I do. I'm a daycare teacher. I've worked for the same company for 15 years and love my job of taking care of older infants. As time is going by though the other stuff of short staff, over worked director, new staff not being trained enough, etc, etc is weighing heavily on my love of my job. So I'm to the place where I need to get resume, portfolio, and whatever in place. Because who know, I may stay for another 5 years, I may bail out of daycare altogether or I may just find a daycare closer to my house. It's time to get prepared so I have options. Thanks for the video and the encouragement. 😊

    If you don't get hired right out, subbing is also a great way to get noticed. I taught two years away from home, moved back home, and didn't get hired at home right away. I subbed for a school year in the schools where I wanted to work and ended up getting in that way. Admin would also just randomly pop in and watch me teach. It made me kind of nervous, but it did work.

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I mentioned that subbing is a great option in my video if you are struggling to get hired immediately. You get to know the schools, they get to know you, and you can make a lot of great connections!

    Quick question, how do I answer questions about assessments/data analysis if I don’t have much experience with school based assessments? For example, I have a few that I did in my college. And I’ve seen my cooperating teachers use specific assessments but I’ve never done much of it (like getting to know Math Focus well or Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Program. Do I just talk about what I know already and point out that I can learn the assessments the schools use?
