This is definitely a goosebump song, especially for The One. So beautifully composed, and I as a guitarist, especially love the advanced picking at the start. Always have a "dumpling in my throat" and water in my eyes when i hear this...Greets from Germany as always.

Road of Resistance live from 2015 I believe. They were young, but this is the video that made me a huge fan. Su commands the crowd at only 15 or 16 years old and her vocals are amazing. I definitely recommend checking that performance out.

The girls (at the time) of Babymetal said they wanted to be closer to their fans, because they used to perform in front of smaller crowds before.
So this is what they came up with. 🙂

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae ปีที่แล้ว +5

Their were definitely extra safety precautions, like the Su-metal's microphone, which she has a firm grip on and had never dropped in her life, had a strap so it couldn't fall down and they are 'behind bars' as well.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae ปีที่แล้ว +4

They weren't even young women yet, they were still teens. But teens with years of experience performing. Maybe not to these big crowds, well Su-metal had a bit more experience with that, but not as Babymetal.

    Great reaction, thanks!
Well, after the Budokan 2014 incident, where Yui fell off the stage (probably 7ft or +2m), I'm 100% sure they took every security measure possible on that freaking pyramid. At a glance you can see a lifeline in the center (they were probably wearing climbing harnesses) and even Su's mic has a wristband safe.
That's the Yokohama Arena and yes, it's awesome. And I hope to see them right there next March at Legend MM. 😊
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

I have watched this video countless times, but it still leaves me in awe every time. It was created in English as an ode to the fans, as the girls were so touched by the international fans learning the Japanese words to be able to sing along, that they decided to give something back and show their appreciation. And this emotional thread goes through all of this performance. The song as such is beautiful and emotional, the lyrics are great, and the visuals support the message perfectly. It couldn't have been brought across any clearer. "The One" is the name of the fan base (or more correctly, the unity of both the band and the fans), and one can feel the special connection in this community. You can even see it as the girls are floating over them, it's not just that the crowd is huge, it's that you don't see a single person that's hasn't got their hands stretched towards them. I'm very happy and proud to be part of this community.
Since you said "she can actually sing", you obviously haven't seen the piano version of "Monochrome" from the TH-cam channel "The First Take". Please check it out, her vocals in that surprised even me as an "old" fan. It's awesome!

    Welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊🤘🔥
This song was a live premiere the day before this as an opener and the second as an ender, almost every other concert after that got this song as an ender or part of the encore.
Everytime i hear this song and recognize all the efforts they put throughout their journey to reach to this point, always makes me fight the tears.
This song works as a follow up of "Tales Of The Destinies" (a progressive metal with heavy tribute to Dream Theater), in fact both were composed together but split in two parts, that's why live at Tokyo Dome 2016 is the perfect choice to watch and one time only moment they performed this set.
Although this lyric is half English/Japanese, the international version of the album got the full English version and they did a great job with the pronunciation being so young, nowadays they can perfectly sing in English and sometimes speak almost fluently too, the whole purpose of this was to letting know everyone that they're aware of fans all over the world trying to understand Japanese just because of BabyMetal songs, so they did the same with this special song going full English lyrics for the first time, they don't have so many songs full English lyrics, only four songs so far, including one from the new album.
The girls (the original trio when YuiMetal was still there, not Momoko or MomoMetal yet), with only 16 and 17 yo were asked what they want to do performing on the stage and they said they want to fly, and this is the closest thing they did to reach and get close to the fans and show some love just like everyone loves BM.
Footage was taken from live at Yokohama 2015, the final live concert of the "Trilogy of 2015" a series of headlining concerts throughout that year, thou this MV isn't with live sound.
Like i said there are some special versions of this song like live at Legend S 2017, or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend" or The One - Unfinished Version which is like a short version of the latter i mentioned and is available at The First Take along with Monochrome Piano Version.
Thanks for sharing this and nice you get the meaning of this, through the lyrics, The One is all of us, including BM and the crew, always remember, we are The One. Forever.🦊🤘🔥
Btw we are The Other One too now.😛🤘♾️

In the latest translated interview Su-metal even used English words to make ambiguous Japanese words clearer in an otherwise fully Japanese interview.
Which shows how much she internalized the English language.

  • @Grington300

Great reaction. Their producer had asked them what they wanted to do on stage, Su told him she wanted to fly ... the flying triangle/pyramid was the result and it also got them closer to the fans. Moa has said how she always feels bad for the people at the back in the arena shows being so far from the stage - this was one way to bring the stage a bit closer to them.
As they toured the world they realised their foreign fans must have been studying and learning Japanese to sing along with them. As a mark of their love and respect they decided they must reciprocate and return the compliment by learning a song completely in English. 'The One' is that song - it is dedicated to the fans (who they also named The One) and is effectively their love letter to the fans.❤
This was the official video, so the audio was from the album - specifically the Japanese domestic version, so it was the half and half English/Japanese version. The international release had the full English version.
They have switched it up as well, there is an "unfinished" version (basically acoustic, just vocals and piano ... it is beautiful) on The First Take channel, but that is pretty much just the first verse. They did the full acoustic version in the 'The One - Stairway to Living Legend' video (if you react to that take care, it is likely to be blocked without a watermark and possibly other precautions) and in most live shows when they play it they will start with the "unfinished" version but half way through the Kami Band will join in to finish with the full version.

This was from a series of three large concerts called Trilogy hence the pyramid and Egyptian theme. Yes it was very safe they were harnessed and it was an actual crane system that carried them over the crowd, possible used normally for hauling lighting and PA up into the gods so it would have had to conform with Japanese safety standards, Su even had her mic strapped to her wrist incase she dropped it. When asked if she was afraid Moa commented that she was not, the only fear she had was she would get emotional and her tears might fall on members of the audience, I don't think anyone there would have had a problem with that lol. I own the Blu-Rays for these concerts and the discs come in three triangle cases that can be arranged into a pyramid for display. In the BR version of this you could see the team following them around the arena controlling the movement via an umbilical that reached the ground. The shots from other shows were of special moments from past shows where The One were particularly united

Ok, you really need to watch the one and only ever performance of Tails of the Destinies. Why? Because it leads into The One. Originally it was one track but the broke it up. Tails is a hard core Prog Metal masterpiece! BTW, I was at the 2016 performance at Tokyo Dome and can attest.. it was EPIC!
At the end of Tails, you’ll hear them reference The One and you’ll recognise the refrain kicking in.
    Just so good… 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Sorry for the late comment. I’ve been to countless concerts and Babymetal’s productions (in Japan) are simply unmatched. Yes they have done a few arena shows outside of Japan, but they are rare due to the expense. That is why I went to Japan to see these women. There are some people that only care about musicianship and I understand. This group has top notch musicians to be sure, but the focus is on the women, crowd interaction and production. Their arena shows are not concerts. They are a full up spectacle. ❤️🦊

No, it's not a compilation video, it's an official video.
The best thing about _Babymetal_ when you know them since 2013-2014, from the first album, seing the talent from these young teenagers in the metal world, and the incredible future potential revealed, was to see them grow up, events and shows happening over the years, new albums with different great songs, all the time, and still going on.
Fyi, this is a 2nd album song and show, 2016.

The video was filmed at the Yokohama arena in Japan. The girls said they wanted to be as close as possible to the fans (especially the ones in the back), so someone came up with the idea of the floating triangle. I believe it was Moa who said that the hardest part of the performance was to stick to the song and choreography since all she wanted to do is waving to all the fans.
The One is a song for the fans, since as you said, together we are The One. They also made a version completely in English as appreciation for all the oversees fans that learned the Japanese lyrics. I personally prefer the original/Japanese version tbh but everyone can have a preference. 🤘🦊🔥
