Ending theme was a bop. Kind of confused why the protag's name is Ira, but Mr. Bucket calls him Michael the whole time.

That or these short games are based on events that has happened
The bucket's name was Mike (short for Michael), and the end card's descriptions of each tool being a "firefighter" and etc. makes it seem as though the player was using the tools while imagining the tools acheiving the jobs as psuedo-people, but heavily identifying with Mr. Bucket (aka Mike) due to his guilt (possibly then, revoking the name "Mike" from Mr. Bucket and becoming the new firefighter, thereby becoming "Michael".) It's strange also how in the end card, despite having of "killed" all his friends, he can show the rescuers them, perhaps meaning he actually didn't kill them off but instead imagined the whole thing (both real and imaginative--imagining an imaginative experience sounds meta as hell man).
Perhaps further on this, Mr.Bucket is "possessing" the player, or "corrupting" them through a form of personality duplication within this imagined-imagined experience? It's a very abstract game and hard to say, but really well done and interesting. Apparently it was made in 7 days, I'd love to see a larger scale version done eventually.
From what was stated at the end card it sounds like the game was inspired by real life events. However I've been unable to verify if that's true.

This odd little game has actually struck a cord within me. Back when I first watched Cast Away as a kid, I wept when Wilson "died". I remember my father asking me why I was so sad over a volley ball, and I told him that Wilson was real to Tom Hanks' character. Here we have poor Michael obviously losing his mind from isolation and his guilt over Mr. Bucket getting damaged, and I can't help but remember what I felt when I first mourned Wilson despite it just being an inanimate object. Kudos to the developer for making me take a trip down memory lane.

I'd like to think Michael survived. Drifted off to sea, was found. Sorted himself out and overcame his problems. Met a nice woman he wanted to spend his life with. Moved to a lovely neighborhood within a cul-de-sac. Had a son named Johnny. Creating a wonderful life for himself.

"Atleast there faces didn't keep changing" I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but is that like, saying how friends a lot of times end up changing and their personalitys? (aka their faces) And they are not who they used to be? The objects in the game still have the same personality through out, a friend you created cant hurt you, because you made them.
I don't know about that last statement. The friends of the character in this game that he created seem to have hurt him pretty badly at the end. Besides, personifying inanimate objects doesn't mean they can't hurt you, especially if they embody your deepest fears and regret.
I thought it might be referencing the fact that he was stuck on this island probably for months or yours and now that he's back home all of his friends look different.

I hate yet love how this crude "horror" game can be interpreted in so many ways. Take mr. bucket himself. perhaps he's a part of Michael's mental state he thought had "died" and he represented as a bucket. its forcing him to kill all his "friends" to wake him up from his fantasy, and him being "kicked" off the island by all the other items is his psyche trying to push him away from all the madness and force him to face reality and try to escape and survive.

I think the idea is that its supposed to be his friends "sacrificing themselves" to save him (ira) especially since Mr. Bucket refers to you AS micheal which WAS mr buckets name. It could even be representative of him dealing with or getting over his "friends death" (via therapy?) because in order for the island to survive the all have to either die or leave. The island could be Ira (as a person/his personality/confidence/etc) and as the he accepts his "friends" are dead/weren't real/sacrificed themselves for him the trees grow large because he becomes more mentally healthy.
This whole thing made me think of the movie "Swiss army man". Especially when he started singing.

I’m only part ways through this video, but is anyone going to mention how brilliant Manly’s voice acting was?? I always love the voices he gives characters and he’s great at delivering lines, but it feels really, really well done in this video! It made me genuinely dread what was about to happen, and more simple games like these don’t usually spook me
That was actually just kinda sad. The decent into madness went fast and being alone for so long those really were his friends. The extra passage at the end was even sadder.
