I would definitely do this just because I’m sick of having to touch my screen and get fingerprints on it on my windows handhelds
You have armory create on the ally. You don't need the touchscreen there to start a game. You can also start the big picture mode with steam on windows.
how about using EMUDECK on bazzite??
I already put a 4 tb in my Rog ally x… works great windows obviously.. but coming from steam deck I miss certain features.. maybe I’ll run emudeck in this instead of windows?
@ETA PRIME I am just guessing, maybe DOLBY ATMOS drivers are not yet supported
I'm thinking about whether I should buy a Steam Deck Oled or the Asus ROG Ally X. How well can you play strategy games with the Ally X?
Do you need the trackpads? Then buy the Deck. If you don’t then get the Ally X
@@crestofhonor2349 trackpads only for strategie games ?
The Deck offers the most bang for your buck, if you ask me. If money is not an issue, go for the Ally X.
Ally X wins on all front honestly ONLY if you're going to install bazzite
In Germany the X costs €899 and the OLED costs €679, I don't want to buy used hardware.
What about playing strategy on the X because of the controls?
Does VRR work on Bazite?
Yeah, its work, at least for me :)
Yes
Has anyone found a way to enable the gamepad when in desktop mode? The only gamepad control that works is the right stick which controls the on screen mouse.
What about Bios updates? Would operating Bazzite hinder the performance without them?
Can you test out bazzite os on those rx6400xt builds, I'm considering buying one of those to put in to my hp eletedesk gen 1
Can you please make more content of this combo plss
that means the sleep/pause mode will work ? :O
Yes without having to use hibernation
I really like how Asus Rog Ally's evolved new version Asus Rog Ally X looks cool with the black color and a rainbow rings under the joysticks looks beautiful, games looks surprisilly good only on a Full HD without having an OLED screen! I want to ask how this is an upgrade am I right there is a Full HD screen on the Original Asus Rog Ally too? Maybe i'm wrong with that and X really is a HUGE Upgrade for Asus Rog Ally, but it's too expensive price 950€ is the only, but the BIGGEST problem for me to buy Asus Rog Ally X I'll think I need to staying my plan to buy Steam Deck Oled the King of the Handhelds as you said in this video what was so good The Ultimate Linux Handheld Experience the whole video is the Ultimate Experience thank you Eta Prime! 🖤🌈
So is steamos officially supporting Ally X? Why call it Bazite?
ETA, is Bazzite better than Chimera? It's been a long while since you last used Chimera...
I don't think it matters. both are Linux under the hood.
Hey I was actually wondering if you could test a dual boot on the ally x with about a 100gb partition for windows a 100gb partition for Bazzite then the rest of the disk as a game library that can share files between both os’s I was curious if this is possible? Or if there are any differences in the game files that might cause issues between Linux/windows?
Is AFMD and other AMD features possible? Especially cpu boost
Can you test out genshin impact ,Zenless zone zero and pal world on the ally x?
I will be interested to see how an EGPU work with the AllyX and Bazzite
Linux is the only way to go with these. These companies need to be shipping these with Linux and funding these projects.
Forza Motorsport, please...
Is bazzite Linux or steam based? Will destiny and fc 24 work with it? Newer call of duties? Can it be dual booted with stock windows it comes with and bazzite seperately?
@@Yamatoshinjimoto linux bro.
Is this combo ready enough to safely retire my deck OLED yet?
@ETA PRIME
Good day which OS runs emulators better bazzite or windows, would love to know you opinion because it would mean alot before I spill my drive to install bazzite.
What about Bazzite on the older Ally, regular version (not extreme)?
@keithwick6170 uh, the led started working around joystick with the ally x update. Really good , benefits both devices
Is anyone else having as much trouble as I am? I’ve followed every step I’ve seen, including disabling secure and fast boot, yet I’m still met with error codes when installing BOS.
How will you update the bios ?
Cool - does this have the same compatibility issues that the deck has??
Yes, which are minimal.
@@deadering yeh may be minimal but if there’s an option to have no compatibility issues …
Assuming you mean games then yes. It's still linux based and so relies on proton to provide compatibility.
@@matthewkingsmill7372 I assume you're alluding to windows, which also has its own compatibility issues, so unfortunately there is no option with zero.
@@deadering What comparability issues does Windows have?
Now just put an AMD 300 chip in this and it's good to go for a few years!
Would it possible to install Emudeck for steam OS and retro games that way?
It will install, though I'm not sure how well it behaves outside of the Deck hardware.
@@theviniso Works perfectly fine, emudeck is an option in the bazzite portal when you first launch the system and will work just like on the steamdeck.
@HikariKnight actually ally fans lying 🤥 they said even steam updates will works normally on different devices who this can happen and the the drivers differents
@@HikariKnightHello hikari, Do you still hang out in CTT chat?
@@tanmaypanadi1414 when he does not stream late at night and i am not busy i tend to pop in. but i have been on vacation for 3 weeks with little internet access, i did pop in the other day though.
Is it perfect too for the rog ally z1 extreme?
Considering that ghost spectre runs better on my aly then regular stock windows did, and considering that manjaro runs even better I'd have to give it a solid go
How would you update the BIOS on the Ally once this is installed as it's normally handled through Armoury Crate?
Heh one of the main selling points of Ally X is Windows and how familiar I am with that OS. Everything just works and it's the best gaming OS, nothing can even come close. Not even Steam Deck with Valve's compatibility layer efforts. Personally I do not agree that SteamOS (Linux) is better for handheld gaming like some fanboys and TH-camrs try to make it look. I also don't think that SteamOS's better handheld UI is as big of a deal as people want you to think. IMO Ally X's better game compatibility thanks to Windows is far more important. I'm happy that Ally X (and Snapdragon laptops) has finally demonstrated and denied misinformation that "Windows is inefficient" and similar nonsense. It's all about hardware tuning and BIOS. So yeah, cool video to check out, but I would only ever use Windows on Ally X.
I agree to an extent, i wish Microsoft just put more effort in their OS instead of implementing features that doesn’t help consumers or spying on consumers and etc…they just need to kill the hardware side of Xbox and just release Xbox OS on PC already. They are doing that already without even knowing it lol.
You are right! Nobody wants linux and not everybody is using Steam. Windows with Armoury Crate is PERFECT on the Ally with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere. Windows has a great quick rescue feature too on the Ally, the performance is better on Windows and you have a much, much better game compatibility. Windows remains king for gaming. The Ally is perfectly optimized. That's the way handhelds should come onto the market with Windows 11. The Linux weirdos or people who are BINDED to Steam can install Linux on their handhelds. But not the other way around. Nobody wants to have to deal with the limitations of Linux. Almost all important apps and games do not run on Linux! These are gaming handhelds just like any gaming PC at home. Nobody wants to limit themselves completely with Linux. With Windows you have all the freedom and it is much more uncomplicated. Nobody wants to do without their Xbox games, Xbox Game Pass, Play Anywhere and have to go through the hassle of installing GOG, Epic, EA and Ubisoft connect. That's why the ROG Ally is so much better. With one click you have ALL launchers and ALL your games run great out of the box.
@seangreenhalgh7921 Exactly. Linux is very lightweight and flexible so it can work well as a console OS, unlike Windows which was never meant to be used like this.
I agree. I enjoy using the windows os. Has anyone used the ally for office work?
I'm able to change skyrim's aspect ratio using the steam launch options, not the game settings, but I'm also using different hardware. If you haven't tried using the steam launch options for changing the aspect ratio it's worth a shot.
Will this work on the Rog ally?
Can we configure Touch Menus on the touch screen via Steam Control options? Thanks!!!
Are u saying that is running better than rog ally standart?
But this thimg should work also on the original Rog Ally, right? if not,
,why?
Can i install battlenet games to bazzite?
would i need to reinstall all my games if i install this?
Thanks for the video. Been using Bazzite for a few months and having a few issues that you might be able to explain. I am getting the update icon but don't think it has been working. I have yet to see the xbox elite option. I was using Decky for TDP and didn't realize that you could do it with the double tap on armory crate now. I am on the ROG Ally Extreme original...is there a way to force update bazzite so I stop getting the message to update and seeing the same info most times? Thanks.
