    Did I ramble a bit at the beginning? Maybe. MAYBE. So here are the timestamps, in case you missed them in the description:
    0:00 - Intro - 3 streaming paths
    2:20 - The "I want EVERYTHING" path
    3:32 - The "I don't want to pay for ANYTHING" path
    5:18 - The "I'm on a budget" path
    6:39 - The live TV issue

      06:51 Is there a reason you left out Sling TV in the list of one of the Live TV options? It is much cheaper (provides a ton of live channels at $30) than the ones you mention (which start at $50). Does neglecting Sling count as cord-cutting like an "expert"? I don't believe so.

    I think at this point for us it is less about “Cord Cutting” and more about we pay for what we want and have almost no commercials. Even if it costs close to what Cable used cost. Just not having to pay for cable boxes alone is worth looking at other options.

    I follow, *_I have X number of hours to watch per week_* and I find who gives me the best bang for the buck this month. Reevaluate monthly, and change things up. No sense going to a buffet if you aren't hungry or very hungry.

      well said. I swap out starz, showtime, Hulu, and HBO. it allows me to catch up, and hav interesting tv to consume. Starz offered me a 3.33$ a month deal I like. trade em regularly...get BOTH a better deal and content.

    I'm cutting HBO Max sub next week if no deal with ROKU, and go with Criterion Channel. Even if deal happens the next day they've lost me for at least several months. Yea, I can watch Max on my pc, but there's a reason I have a nice big 4k tv. Cord Cutters never had it better for ease of jumping in and out of services. BTW, the best free service is right here, youtube; there are tons of great content, it just takes some careful searching, and I watch free youtube more than any other app on my Roku.

    • @Undecided0
      @Undecided0 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Max isn't even in 4K or HDR. Which is ridiculous, because almost every other streaming service has 4k content.

    I was a comcast subscriber and cut the cord because I felt I was paying way to much for never finding anything to watch with 700 channels to choose from which were really about a 100 because they kept repeating there selves as you scrolled through the channel guide. I went into this with the intention of saving some money but find myself just around $20 less a month than what I was paying for Comcast, the big difference is subscribing to a few different services and using an antenna I'm finding that I'm able to find programming that interests me. So long story short, I'm not paying much less but feel I'm getting a value for my dollar today rather then flushing it down the drain.

    Due to budget cuts, I am going down from TH-cam TV( which I will miss) to Philo and Locasr. I have to seach through something on locast so I can get my cities stations. If you are a student, on medicade, or on food stamps you can get Amazon prime for $5.99 a month. The downfall for people on food stamps is the food you have to choose from is from their pantry section. which is mostly Junk food. Glad I rediscovered Crackle ( heavily Commercial sponsered) , However, I did find some nostalgia. Everything I enjoyed from my childhood is on there. Best of all is My Two Dads.

      Netflix content is lacking these days. They need a $5.99 with ads option, like Hulu has. I dropped it, and switched to HBO Max. I’m going to alternate between the 2 every few months.

  • @jeremyf9124
    @jeremyf9124 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, keep in mind that Netflix still has a DVD/Blu-Ray by mail service. They have just about everything, and it’s a good value if you’re diligent about returning discs. Also, if you’re subscribed to a service for one show, look into alternatives. It’s most likely cheaper in the long run to buy it on disc/iTunes/Google Play/Vudu.

    Good tips. I really searched and researched before cutting the cord. Before the crazy price hike I had TH-cam TV but like you said in the video no sports no need. That said I do like to watch local news so I got a silicon dust home run with two tuners. The price of admission is a little expensive but it's a one-time fee. I have an old PC I'm running a Plex Media server on so I can DVR the main channels that I want to watch. So now I have Philo, Disney Plus, Netflix, Amazon prime, and Hulu no commercials that I pay for, and I'm still substantially less than I was with my satellite service. Keep up the good work! 👍

    Why did you NOT mention OTA TV? A one-time investment that (in metro and urban areas) gives you all the major channels plus lots of "streaming" replacement channels. In south Riverside County, CA, I get 120+ channels. By adding PHILO for "specialty" channels, and Amazon Prime, I am in great shape for a "budget" cord-cutter.

For me in Australia it's Netflix + Amazon Prime + Binge (run by news corp this is hbo Max + discovery + A&E + all of news corps movie rights + lots of local content, over 1700 shows and 800 movies and it's growing). All of this costs me $33 a month and it's more TV and movies than I could ever hope to watch. We do have live sport running here in Australia so I pay $25 a month for a live sports service called kayo

    Maybe a fourth. The nomadic streamer. You move around the various services on a periodic basis. Spend a month on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and HBO Max. So over a period of 12 months you would have visited each of those services 3 times. Or you could do Neflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and HBO Max. That would let you visit each of the 6 services, twice over a 12 month period.
    Personally, I do not think any of the big five are worth a 12 month subscription.

Mine is fiber optic at 60 mbps upload and 60 mbps download they do have different packages you can choose from if you are able to get there service. It is a third party through AT&T and the service is amazing. If I have a problem like when my cat knocked off my receiver in the house they sent someone out the next day to replace it and there was no charge to me . And the next time they had to come out a tree limb fell on the box outside they sent someone out the next day and fixed it and again there was no cost to me. I love my internet service now and I haven't found an amount of devices it can't handle we are constantly connected with or cell phones and other devices in our home.
