He FINALLY got a lot of this right, but left out a very important fact. Most TV stations do NOT broadcast on the same channel they brand themselves as. It is the RF station that is picked up by the antenna, not the branded station number.
It wasn't mentioned explicitly, but do note that a lot of TV stations don't broadcast by the channel number you know them as. For example, I have a CBS 5 in my market. You might think that channel's on the Low VHF band, but "5" is the virtual channel number. Using antennaweb.org, I know it really broadcasts on RF channel 17, which is on the UHF band.
Yep, which is why that FCC site really comes in handy, since it will tell you which band a channel is actually broadcasting on. But like I said: it's a 101 video. :)
I'm old enough to remember TV before cable, etc. You had 2 dials. One had channels 2 through 13 and a UHF "channel" on it. If you needed to tune in a channel above that, you tuned the first to the UHF, then used the second dial to tune in those channels. Back then 2 -13 had better pictures. Now it's sorta the opposite...the few that are broadcast from 2-13 aren't quite as good. Still, with all the sub channels that you get, it's much better than when we only had 4 channels.
The problem is most antennas do not pick up VHF. My VHF only antenna from the analogue days worked fine after the transition on the 2 channels that stayed on Hi-VHF, but the UHF channels were a mess.
Ota and shuffling thru streaming services is way to go for BOTH content and $$ savings. My antenna had to be adjusted quite a bit to capture the signal I needed. The inside ones were worthless, my roof mount granted me 14 channels vs 2.
Back in the 1970s, they had something called the "Color TV Antenna" for the idiots to buy. They sold at a premium vs regular antennas LOL. History repeats itself. Can't wait for the new 4K and 8K HDR antennas to come out. Hey Jeff Bezo??
Nice explanation but can you please review Mi Box S? I thought it was a great and cheap 4k streaming device but I recently heard that it is full of bugs and bloatware. Also, Mi Stick is coming out sometime this year so a price reduction might happen. I am sure this will be an interesting topic to cover and analyze.
Seriously don't mess around with an indoor antenna unless you can't put an outdoor antenna on your roof. An outdoor antenna will pick up signals better because it just has a lot less matter in the way.
I would love to get over the air TV. About a year ago we moved to South Weber Utah and we are in a "bowl" with mountains around us but no TV transmitter. Is there any kind of laws that state there should be a transmitter, where safety Etc. Right now we have to pay $20 just to get a few local channels from Xfinity, when the place we lived before we could have received 20 or 30 channels free
i recently picked up a Clearstream Eclipse on your recommendation and nevah regretted it. Thanx
There was some really awesome commentator that appeared twice at the beginning. 🤓😎
Seriously, Thanks for addressing this. 👍

Antenna technology helps get local channels on various recommended frequencies.
For the best information on Antennas go to Antenna Man on TH-cam. An HD antenna is not really a HD antenna. All antennas are HD.

At least You tube can’t raise the price on Antenna content.
Actually, they can! That's why cable is so expensive. Google: *_Retransmission fees_*
Streaming Junkie Actually they can’t. OTA is free with an Antenna
Also TH-cam TV went up to $65 trying to start talking about Sling TV again

I use Locast instead of an antenna, it’s a free service...
You can watch sling airtv2 local channles on apple tv 📺
Why you keep showing that dust pan.
You can only watch LoCast for 15 minutes then you get kicked off
First...sweet
But can you claim to have a comment featured twice in the video? 😗
