Most music advice is lies, the other little bit is honest misinformation. Ive seen all of them from everyone. You are the only human I have ever heard say anything that makes sense, and the advice you give is so wildly different than everyone else. Thank you
Jesse i really love your videos, they have such great information that it shouldnt even be free! i just wanna give one feedback regarding your visuals: its really exhausting. There's so much happening that it becomes really hard to focus on what you are saying. And i say this as someone who is watching and taking notes of your videos every single day! they became really important for me as an artist. But please, if you can, give it a rest on the excessive visuals. What you say is really important and i would like to focus more easily on it
I know what you mean. We have trying to apply the “Cannon method” too. We just made a video about what we learned trying out submithub. If you check it out, let us know if we have too much visual noise. We need some feedback.
Yo. I am going to jump in here before Jesse calls you a king or worse “chief”. He is going to tell you to have a release plan and not do a whole record. Hope this helps you dodge a bullet.
This video has insane value for me personally, thank u. I got one question If im an artist who has a specific style but makes different genres, should i use different hashtags for each individual song or rather stick to one set of hashtags for the sake of consistency?
Jesse thanks for your words I have big plans as an artist but technology limitations are slowing me down What inspired me about this transcript was the concept of remaking the same video better and better The people would like a series where you show results from real artists you work with
Has anyone else recently noticed discovery mode is literally only showing your songs to only 5-10% of the people it use to even with the same popularity scores and more followers and streams ?
@@lorenzoantwan that also, none of my new songs ever meet the requirements when older songs that aren’t as popular in popularity score in some cases lol
To your point on silo'd music, I still find regularly artists in my own *listening genres* with enough streams per month to live on. Sometimes a few million. There's no shortage of winners.
Interesting, been doing the exact Submit Hub thing that you’ve laid out, though it called my song a stoner/doom song which it definitely isn’t. Will keep at it, and do the follow up part. Thanks for these videos, Jesse.
@@Musformation yeah. I’ve gotten some good feedback from the nerds, and the curators. The most helpful one was from a rejection from a playlist, but the curator really helped me with my pitching and gave me some further insight to genre. Your exploiting of social media tropes always makes me chuckle.
Hey Jesse, I'd like your opinion on something please. I'm recording a punk-flamenco record with my band, in pure secret. It's all in the shadows deliberately. My end goal is to have a bunch of videos and photoshoots ready, and then flood the algorithm the moment we announce the record and weaponize social media. Single, video, photoshoot, single, video, photoshoot, etc. There's another part of me that feels like I'm missing out on starting small and growing infront of our fans (whether it's 5 people or 50,000). Like I'm keeping all these things in our pocket only to barrage the internet once it's all done and ready to be consumed. It's a dilemma I'm still facing several months in. Please share your thoughts if you can, when you can. Thank you.
These are great videos, thank you very much. What happens when you don't have an Spotify listener account (I have my music in bandcamp and youtube) and you don't have lyric video because you make electronic music without lyrics? Thanks for the videos
I have seen a lot of artists do these videos, and there seems to be a lot of negative feedback in the comments especially for the ones that say "posting this until I reach fans of X", even on high quality music. Does this result in any negative consequences? Also what if the genre of your song is super obvious? There may be 0 debate or engagement about this therefore you won't get the comments to begin with
1. If the song song isn’t susceptible to the audience it finds it’s going to get negative comments and all videos that get views do. But negative comments are engagement that helps a lot of the time. 2. You’d be shocked by the most obeying the rule songs can generate conversation cause no one knows what anything means anymore
A few days ago the TH-cam version of find your genre was broken. Scanned our whole song and said we were trip hop. Now we will never know what our genre is…it is a sad life.
I make great songs man I put a lot of time and effort into it even with my mental thinking disabilities and I know people would hear the feelings and story's and dreams in them but it doesn't reach them 😢
The demo for the submithub on screen seems very underwhelming. Laced up is most def. a hyperpop, alt rock or indie pop song at worst. Its definetely not Bass House or Electro house
Only someone who buys premade beats and uses autotune and pays someone else to mix can afford the time to be on tiktok and all that other crap, and that's exactly why rock is not getting the reach it needs
These tips will not get you listeners. I've read the book and listened to a bunch of the videos. If you want to get fans. Invest in Instagram ads and TH-cam ads yourself. This guy is just trying to get sales for his book and course....
lol buddy I got bad news for you I don’t have a course unlike all the other grifters and my books are like 0.5% of my income if that was my end goal I’d be a real idiot. But you are clearly a genius who knows it all. But thanks for demonstrating to everyone what a good listener and researcher you are. Everyone should listen to your keen sense. Maybe you should be king?
@@Musformation I don't think you are an idiot I think you are an excellent TH-camr. But why don't you take a random person and actually show that what you are saying actually works. Just like you and other people on here. You never do and will not because your only purpose is to push content for your revenue.
This is another comment where you assume you know wayyyyyy more than you do. Doing someone randomly is a fools game since when the song is bad it never works. Then if I pick someone I think is good if I don’t have the ear for the good song and people don’t like it as much as I do I look like a fool and I’m not a hit picker I’m a marketing person. So instead I keep working with artists and brands who pay me for my time they keep blowing up. Occasionally they come on the channel and talk about it (3 this so far that have come on) and I continue to do my paid work working with artists rather than plunging a ton of time into an artist I could be very wrong about 🤷♂️
i’ve tried instagram ads they don’t work lol. jesse is right all instagram ads did was lead me to the wrong people then kill the other post i did not pay for ads
