    TFW you try to dismantle the HRE and end causing the 30 years war 200 years before.

    You did a great job making Switzerland a powerhouse but the real star of this run is 100% Sweden.

    i played switzerland for switzerlake, and since apparently i hate myself, i did it without dismantling - just a lot of grinding into both hre and france

    Have you ever seen AI Switzerland flip to monarchy? In my current byz campaign thats what happened. I was confused needless to say.

      I haven't, but in theory it's possible. If AI can change its primary culture, then changing government type is not something outlandish.

      Maybe they got released by a monarchy in a peace deal? They also might have been formed by a monarchy since I think Switzerland is a medium German formable, like Austria and Hannover.

      After checking the wiki, apparently restoring the Swiss Confederation turns your government into a republic.

    Coalitions wont attack if they have less than five members. Theyre unlikely to attack if you have strong allies

      Less than four*. I would like to add that they won't even form if you're have tons of dev. But still better not to risk it, because you can't separate peace coalition members, and that means you're effectively blocked from expansion until the coalition disbands.

    7:35 That's unfair yo. Even if you intend to phase out mercenary later they still have many uses. Elite mercenaries is basicly a slightly weaker Switzerland and if you have money to sustain it then any country can become Prussia, keeping up miltech is easier and cheaper with merc ideas and combine it with innovative you can have lv5 mil advisor before you even become great power and finally access to client state.
    But oh well it's actually good for me that mercenary ideas continue to being underestimated, i don't have to worry about merc nerf.

      Maybe I chose harsh words to describe Merc idea groups, but they're effectively the same as quality/quantity/aristocratic. They're good, but in most cases you'll have better ideas available.

      @@CoolBonobo You mean Admin and Diplo? :v
      I do find espionage to be really cool though, highly militirastic for an ideas in diplo slot and got a bit of everything that make conquering easier(but not to conquer more, that's diplo job)

      Yup, also humanist, religious, and stuff. Mercenary ideas are the most useful early game, but by absolutism offensive becomes more useful because of siege ability. So if you don't grab them early enough, there is not much sense in doing it later (unless you're rich, yet don't have manpower) same as innovative kinda.

    if you form a new country do you still keep their government?

    • @CoolBonobo
      @CoolBonobo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! It's tied to the culture, not the tag. And, if I'm not mistaken, it won't go away even if you change your primary culture.
