Interesting that you cut the cylinder without using the rip command. I also thought that it was interesting that your initial cylinder sketch was 2 circles. You didn't extrude a surface and then thicken it.

Yeah, I didn't use the Rip command because it would not have allowed me to get the helical shape I wanted for the cut. As for the initial shape, you are right I could have done one circle, extruded it, then thickened it. That is a great thing about Inventor, there are several ways to get to the same result. My mantra in class, "There is no right or wrong way. The best we can do is efficient or less-efficient ways to model our designs." I also tell my students, what is efficient, or less-efficient, will change from design to design.
      Thanks for watching.

Please make a video on how to unfold curve pipe.

I was about to make a video that shows how to create a flat of a curved pipe, then I realized I did and posted it to the Autodesk Knowledge Network, about a year ago. You can use this link to find that video.

I do want to let you know in advance, that there is a trick to this. Inventor cannot take bent pipe and generate a flat pattern, like in sheet metal. You model the pipe flat and then bend it, using the Bend Part feature. This video shows how to do that. It also shows how you can make the part an iPart and mimic a sheet metal part, with a formed and flat version of you part. Hope this helps. Thanks.

ANd.. The thickness parameter is where.. I am new..

The Thickness parameter can be found in the Sheet Metal Style or in the Parameter dialog. The best place to find this is in the Sheet Metal Styles, which is further to the right in your Sheet Metal tab of the ribbon.

This seems to be a very convoluted way of doing a flat pattern.
Why not just create a rolled sheetmetal part

This method is pretty convoluted. I don't remember the initial question, but this was the result of a question I was asked. They had some scenario, which I can't remember at the moment, and wanted to know if this was possible. So it is possible, but probably not the right approach for most users.
