That was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Sometime maybe you could show us how the shoes are made to make the sound?
The shoes have leather soles, into which you hammer little metal objects called “segs” (that’s what they were called when I was doing Irish dancing in the 1970’s)
... and the dance surface is birch wood and made to be bouncy and resonant.

I've tried Irish dancing at my language week when I went to Ireland with school and it was so much fun 😍😅
Go for it. I've loved Irish dance ever since I was a kid, but we didn't have an Irish dance studio in my area until I was almost thirty. Guess what? I signed up, even though I was (by far) the oldest student in the class. I may never have reached competition-level skill, but I was able to keep up with the others well enough. If I could do it, so can you. And if you don't have a dance studio in your area, there are always TH-cam tutorials. Give yourself a chance - you may surprise yourself!
Hello, Princessaz79 ! I am 74, and last autumn I went to a lesson for american shuffle, since there was no Irish dance studio. I enjoy it ! but I was obliged to stop, because my memory was not at a good level. So don't lose any time, go and have a try ! give yourself a chance ! From France.

Um, you do realize that dancers 'train the smile' onto their faces, right?
I'm not saying they don't enjoy dancing. You can't be that good at something you don't enjoy. And they are VERY good.
To me, the smile showed intense concentration. And I thoroughly enjoyed watching.
Because it's very joyful dancing, as difficult as it is. They're having fun
Its good to see them enjoying themselves in a time when so much is a major downer.
I know traditionally step dancers aren't supposed to show much expression.But in performances like this I much prefer smiles.

But 'agat' is singular, so if you want to say thank you to multiple people, it becomes 'agaibh', the same way 'dia dhuit' is hello to one person and 'dia dhaoibh' is hello to more than one person. So 'go raibh míle maith agaibh' is correct.

I love watching Irish step dancing, it never ceases to maze me how fast the dancers can move their and stay in the same place at the same time. I know if I were to try this, I'd be all over the place, not to mention twisting my ankles as well as kicking and stepping on my feet coastantly.

Beautiful healthy Irish girls doing something worthwhile instead of sitting in darkened rooms playing on computers, Fantastic dance routine. I live in Spain and when I show this kind of thing to the flamenco dancers their jaws drop !!!

They always show Irish skies like Irish eyes - smiling. But its like here in northern New England - Sunny with a 50MPH wind and a temperature of minus 2! Cheers!

If they all lived above me...in big studio apartment with wooden floors...that had once been a famous dance studio in the 1930s and 1940s...where Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers once danced in the moonlight...so the story goes...and if they practiced their dancing all night...every night...from ten o'clock at night, until six o'clock in the morning...and if I lay in bed each night...ten feet beneath their brilliant smiles and their flashing feet and the tapping of their dancing shoes...and if I was watching the ceiling shudder to the taps of their steps...and if it was two o'clock in the morning...and I had to be up for work at five o'clock in the morning...I would lie awake in my bed...very still...listening to them dance...listening to the million taps of their dancing shoes...a million taps...and a million taps...and a million-million-million taps...again and again...and again and again...and again and again and again and again...and I would picture them all in my mind...smiling and beautiful...and I would say this to the night...and to the darkness...and to anyone who might be listening: "Oh, Lord...I'm so lucky to be alive....and I'm so lucky to be living in this place."
I know I can’t do that, but I did enjoy the music it’s in my Scottish ancestry.👍😁😎

My grandparents came from Ireland. I love to dance and dance very differently than everyone else here. I dance a lot with my feet. I think the dance is in our bones and I love to watch you. It's so fun and I adore and admire all of you.
