How to unclog your Grey water tank with the Flush King

  • Our Grey tank is clogged and if we use any more water I'm afraid its gonna flood our trailer. I did some research and if I use the Flush King tank flusher I might not have to cut the bottom of my trailer out. But if this doesn't work I might have a very big job on my hands in the freezing cold winter.

    A few comments. A Flush King was the very first thing I bought when we got our first RV. I do not use the black tank sprinkler. Use the FK until it comes out with nothing but clear water, both black and gray. Never leave your valves open. Close them and open to drain. You have a holding tank, not a septic in an RV. Never use bar soap. Soap scum will form in the tank. Use liquid soap (actually detergent). To keep your sensors in your black tank working, you need to stop struvite from forming. Use 1/2 cup of Borax dissolved in hot water and either some laundry or dishwasher detergent in the tank. Leave it in until you dump. The Borax, every time, the detergent maybe every third time.
    Best wishes on building the house. My wife and I built ours on weekends 38 years ago. Still living in it.

    These work great. Glad it worked for you. One key component is a $10 water flow meter so you don’t overflow your tanks. In this case it wouldn’t be accurate due to the water held by the clog but in a normal flush you would want it or want to have someone watching the sensor at the very least.

    Question for you we have the same set up with the drain hoses with the (Y) connector but when I open one drain to empty when it comes down it also runs into the other hose instead of just to the below ground sewer do you have the same problem and ifso do you have a solution for that ?? I am thinking only way to fix is to buy 2 more waste gates and add them to the Y

    • @TeamTateOutdoors
      @TeamTateOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have to drain ours at the same time because our tanks are hooked up to same rinse hose and we can’t isolate them.but then we end up back flushing both of them anyways so it washes out both hoses. I guess if you didn’t want the waist going into the other empty hose towards the other tank or you could put a waste gate like you said between the hose and the Y that would work.

  • @cb-gz1vl
    @cb-gz1vl 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This didn't work for me because my grey tank valve handle was broken and not actually opening the door inside. However I did find you can also make a Flush King from a flush pipe and a valve piece. My Camping World didn't have the King.

    • @TeamTateOutdoors
      @TeamTateOutdoors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I looked at making something myself it would have cost me the same if not more plus time to build something similar to the flush king but having a broken valve doesn't mean the flush king didn't work it means you have to have a working valve handle before you can properly use the flushking. I hope you got your issue resolved. 😁

    You trust your tank level sensors? And how in the world do you clog a grey water tank???

    • @TeamTateOutdoors
      @TeamTateOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the grey water clog was due to the round plastic cut outs that they drill into the tanks and leave in the bottom, also known as the slugs. We normally dump every Friday but we do check our sensors, however I thinks it’s best to know how many days of full time use that you can do before having to dump.
