The saddest thing about the gaming industry now is i haven't met a single gamer who hasn't been burned by a terrible shitty game that they sincerely wanted to be great
it is funny to think that the phrase "old games were better" is now the absolute truth, because in this times for one good triple A geme there is ten games broken with bugs(cyberbug, bugout 76, redfail) or has stupid microtransactions(overwatch 20$ skins) or worst is is pay to win(recently paytowatch with the new and broken hero in the battle pass)
Cyberpunk is one of the best games last years though. And a rarity, an AAA RPG with good characters, dialogues and story. Yes, it released with problems, but it's still one of the best.
Purchasing AAA games is so much more satisfying if you hold out until they go on sale. By then they are either workably optimized or the knowledge that they aren't even worth sale price is common. I haven't made a regrettable (or full price) AAA purchase in years.
I think the thing that has really turned me off to modern gaming is how everything just... Looks the same. Have you noticed how the characters and worlds all look so similar? It's like everything runs on the same engine 😢
These people's lavish lifestyles and their expectations has them by the balls in these companies. If I were in game dev for a AAA company, unless it was like Blizzard or BGS, I'm taking a pay cut and beating down the doors of indie game devs. Imagine contributing to an actual loved game, like Project Zomboid or Terraria. I'm either doing that or just trying to make my own game. The real G's are trying to produce their own game or start their own dev companies to make games.
Most normies such as myself wouldn't like those games. The most popular genre is FPS and with those games being very, VERY far from that wouldn't get much attention from your average dude-bro who plays Cock & Doody 69 or the endless amount of amount of Madden games.
With modern technology, it's a lot easier to make games. The only dev for Bright Memory didn't even use a single line of code for his game. The final version did have a team and I guess there was coding but for the most part, he did it all by himself. It's a short game too but it feels almost AAA in quality. That was around 3 years ago, so I assume it only got better, especially with AI on the scene for coding, textures and voice acting.
Probably a long comment as it is coming from my heart... I think gaming (especially the AAA western sphere) is a victim of a lot of chasing trends, broken promises, releasing games day 1 on subscription services, political ideologies, and just downright lack of skill/ambition, and for an industry that's becoming the biggest & fastest in the world, and where developing costs for AAA games have been rising exponentially, this was, sadly, bound to happen, it's been happening for years now (and it'll get so much worse) & my hope for the industry is dying more & more, and I'm a guy in my 20s so you can't necessarily call me a "nostalgic jaded gamer", while some would point towards indie games as a beacon of hope & ones that would innovate in terms of design & gameplay (due to their cheap costs of development so they wouldn't be too afraid to risk by designing games in an outstanding & peculiar way), and I would say that most of the indie titles are shovel-ware that would waste your time, there are a bunch of indies that are pretty great, but the games that highly provoke my interest are the AAA games that push the envelope in gameplay, graphics & production value forward, genre-defining games, we don't get them anymore, most of them either have exploitative MTX systems, half-baked on day 1, or just being too formulaic to point they make you barf. My last hope for AAA single-player gaming (because they're pretty much the best at it) was Sony, but now after their PlayStation Showcase that took place on May 24th, where they showed a lot of trash indies, 1 or 2 interesting looking 3rd-party titles, a whole bunch of live-service games with CGI cutscenes & then Spider Man 2 which didn't impress me graphically nor gameplay-wise, they kept the same animations & no new swinging upgrades/physics/interactions, they have cemented that we will be in an era where it'll be infested with asset-flips, live-service games, cheapened day 1 releases of games on a subscription service (Xbox Game Pass) & much worse, you have games now that wanna teach you politics & enforce agendas down your throat, and when you wanna voice your concerns about it, suddenly “the game wasn't made for you in the 1st place" or you’re this or that, this opens a whole new can of worms that we aren't going to delve into. But yeah, this video should really get much more views, like 2 or 3 million views, it encapsulates how I feel about AAA single-player gaming nowadays, what a disaster...
If you let the poltical drivel on twitter, that lets be honest has absolutely nothing to do with the actual quality of a videogame, sour your outlook on gaming as a whole I would step back and self reflect. Most of the other things you said I can agree with except for Spiderman 2, I do not see the point of a straightforward sequel needing to reinvent the wheel and make completely new animations for things, doesn't make it an asset flip. Almost as moronic as the people calling TOTFK a 70 Dollar DLC.

The argument to say that "going indie" is the way to fight. On one hand, the game has a clear vision. On the other, it's an ego trip that only fuels bad ideas. As for triple A...I hope you like japanese games...cause that's all you get. And even then they fall into the same development pitfalls.Same crunch problem, not enough people, and being force to follow modern(western) terrible new sensibilities. Thanks marketing, go to hell.
this should all be very obvious. art is about PEOPLE, individuals, experiences, intentionality, expression. tagging the word "industry" is the polar opposite of those concepts. companies don't create art, they create advertisements, they create literal, surface level, entertainment. fear group think. i mean these kinds of concepts are as old as time and are not exclusive to video games. it's not fault to ubisoft or bethesda or whatever, it's just a conceptual impossibility. if you came to a studio looking for a meaningful experience, it is you who is at fault, not the companies who outsmarted you and took your money away.
This is why I believe life service games are farce. Just make a stand alone game that has a set beginning middle and end Then decide how you're gonna make your life service afterwards. Games like Tormented souls Elden ring. Avoid garbage games like fall out new Vegas
It's funny how the tables have turned In the first era of video games, the popular games were the best ones, and the unknown were most of the time crappy remakes. Now the big companies always throw the same games and arguments to sell it, slaps a 90$ sign on it, and call it a masterpiece. But a random independant team, will do a better job than the big studios devs (that I don't blame)
Im tired of games sucking today. But im specially tired of people saying "Its just modern gaming" or "it is what it is" "its just the way games are now" Stop it. Get some help. Look into the past and know games where NOT this. Its simple. All you gotta do is play a game from 2011, back to 1986. Games were games. They were fun. Not bad. Simple as that. This "its just modern gaming" attitude. needs to die. We need people to stop thinking of doing nothing. And letting AAA Corporations get away with toxic things like this. And call them out. And vote with there Wallets. Im trying to talk to people about this issue. I hope im talking to a wall. Spread this. Modern gaming should be fun. Not bad.
It's because the gaming industry is the most profitable. That is why we get disappointed time and time again. No innovation, no passion. They only care about profit and that will never change.

Damn, literally all of this video is depressing as all get out. It wouldn't hurt as much, if it wasn't all true : / I vowed after I waited 2 YEARS for Cyberpunk; that is the last game I will ever preorder. Period. The industry needs to forget ambition - they need to forget trying to make games look like movies. Focus on structure. Functional game mechanics that aren't backward af OR actively trying to copy Dark Souls (which YES, is mostly shoddy game design - If I have to battle the camera as well as the enemies, and you purposely time my reactions slower than EVERY enemy, what else would you call that but bullshit?) Focus on putting out games with an actual interesting narrative to pursue. That makes sense. We don't need actual actors for voice acting. We need to not hire Troy Baker/Jennifer Hale/Laura Bailey and Nolan North for literally everything under the sun. (They are good, yes... but the voice actors guild really, REALLY needs to be willing to hire other people every freaking blue moon for a push) The budget for a Good Triple A game does NOT AND SHOULD NOT bankrupt your freaking company if it does not sell. Who the hell taught you guys that was good business practice??? Proper, workable budgets. Workable time tables and FUCK anything and EVERYTHING to do with "Hype." If the game is good; it will speak for itself. After you put it out. Which you'd hope it doesn't immediately almost brick the console, or fuck up half way through a main quest. The ironic part is, gaming industry now makes more money than Hollywood. And they are still trying to be Hollywood. They have the exact same problem with all these bullshit expensive "tent pole" flops these days that are bleeding them out. Do you, as an industry - as people who love games as much as you claim DEVS - you really want to go out like that? Because I don't want to see that. I just want a good game, in the ONE genre that I actively enjoy to come out, and not be massively frustrating mechanically, half broken, or need a bloody patch day one to make it not be broken. I'd also like more than one good game a freaking decade.

And no mention of NFT's. Impressive
Thank you. Now when someone asks if I'm okay I can just send them this.
this should all be very obvious. art is about PEOPLE, individuals, experiences, intentionality, expression. tagging the word "industry" is the polar opposite of those concepts. companies don't create art, they create advertisements, they create literal, surface level, entertainment. fear group think.
i mean these kinds of concepts are as old as time and are not exclusive to video games. it's not fault to ubisoft or bethesda or whatever, it's just a conceptual impossibility. if you came to a studio looking for a meaningful experience, it is you who is at fault, not the companies who outsmarted you and took your money away.
anyway just downloaded old blood and i hope i like it.
@@coletale Wolfenstein old blood? If so, this game is a banger. Even if its short.
The ow2 one hurt man
Let's just hope Starfield won't continue this line.
Is there a better video example of why *E3* is no more? How soon before Gamescom bites the dust?
My hate for Randy Pitchford grows everyday
Colonial marines just truly makes me sad
I love how several of this buggy released games are games the "gamer fan base" demanded to NOT be delayed, so funny LMAO
i no longer regret owning a potato laptop
amazing video on this topic words from developers only to turn out to be lies
I wasn't hyped for any of these games. So was never disappointed.
This is why I believe life service games are farce. Just make a stand alone game that has a set beginning middle and end Then decide how you're gonna make your life service afterwards. Games like Tormented souls Elden ring. Avoid garbage games like fall out new Vegas
But that would require developers to actually ship out a compete game instead of 1/4 of a game and 7 subsequent paid DLCs 💀
It's funny how the tables have turned
In the first era of video games, the popular games were the best ones, and the unknown were most of the time crappy remakes.
Now the big companies always throw the same games and arguments to sell it, slaps a 90$ sign on it, and call it a masterpiece. But a random independant team, will do a better job than the big studios devs (that I don't blame)
Deserve more views, brother! Keep it up!!!

The Gaming Industry - A Perfect Storm of Disappointment
This deserves so many more views
Amazing work!
Sound mixing was a little all over the place, but congratz on this video!
Im tired of games sucking today.
But im specially tired of people saying
"Its just modern gaming" or "it is what it is" "its just the way games are now"
Stop it.

Elden Ring had glitches, but the game was still a masterpiece!
nintendo fan here
besisdes the slip up on mario striekrs battle league it's always been pretty great
Unless your a star fox fan

Great vid, deserves much more attention!
The outer worlds was a great game for what they were working with
The CSGO/DOTA part is disappointing because of the players. The market is what it is only because of the players. It's a damn loop.
Good vid, but why is Elden ring here?
Crowbcat 2 No way
I still can't believe just how much Tim Cain has sold out.
I'm surprised you didn't add the "let's go whaling" video in there. That one is absolutely disgusting. If you haven't seen it, look it up.
videos like this are my favourite to make
You did an amazing job compiling these games some of them I forgot about or outright didn't buy these companies should not be forgiven or forgotten how they ripped off their customers. Gta just did it with 180 cars locked behind GTA plus 😊
babe wake up, Crowbcat just got replaced 👍
do more videos like this
Yea I don't expect anything good from video game developer, from triple A to indie, I expect their games to be shit until I'm proven wrong. 90% of games are trash.
Finally someone who doesn't suck off indie games blindly
It’s better to just not have an opinion on something, until you see enough gameplay of it or you play it yourself. I personally disagree that most games are trash.
@@SaturNo_O017yep. It sort of annoys me that people constantly praise indie games as if they do not have just as much sludge to wade through. The only difference is indies are less mainstream, meaning bad games simply do not get noticed, creating the illusion of indie games having a higher bar of quality.
This was inevitable
The video doesn't seem to be consistent with what it's trying to point out
Haven't watched the video at all, but the thumbnail is misleading for one game shown: Deus Ex Mankind divided. That IS an excellent game and dare i say better structured than Human Revolution.
Can you put the youtubers in your video in the description I want to look at there content :)
People pay for it, thats the problem
This is so depressing to watch.... I hate this so much... But this is the reality of Gaming...
no this is a narrow rant anout gaming.
@@peacefusion sigh. What? What are you trying to actually say?
@@peacefusion no, dude. This is happening across all genres.
Ask me one genre, and i try to tell you the problem of itself
@@tilsgee I agree, there is mass online cynicism in every genre now.
@@peacefusionyea, for good reason, games were objectively better back then
I was lucky that I didn't wait for any of these games, except Halo Infinite - and that turned out quite OK.
thought this was crowbcat
No one ever brings up the core of the issue the internet we either needs laws or regulations the game has to work or it get's recalled, this crap never happened in the 90's you either put that game on disc fully working or you have the hole lot recalled and go bust.
alone in the dark slander? 💀💀💀
also imagine citing illumunaughti a.k.a "I love deadass plagarizing people word for word"
I'm a certified ubisoft hater but use any other source
Why are the sound levels all over the place? Please fix this, at some moments I can barely hear what is being said and at other moments it's blasting so loud my ears start to bleed.
@15:00 Please let people know that there are spoilers for Resident evil 3 Nemesis PS1 here and to skip 15:30
I hate when people do this without warning of potential spoilers (yes I'm still playing that old ps1 game)
I subbed, but Jesus Christ you can stop now 😂 like most of these games were out my head and you bring my PTSD back 😂 the gaming industry is so shit now days
Games Have Gotten To Big For Their Own Good. Back When Games Were Smaller Experiences, & Had Shorter Development Cycles We Were More Easily Satisfied & Were Happier As A Result. If You Don't Believe Me Then Give It Time. You Will Eventually Agree With Me As You Get Older.
Nah not outerworlds being on this list 😢 it's a great game
The man at 1:47 playing Fable.
Games created for share holders not gamers.
Why is The Outer Worlds in this?
Bc it was mid from a compagny that did banger before

fuck does anyone remember the name of this channel? @8:39 forgot about those dudes, they were kinda like the british gameranx...

The problem is capitalism, just like always
Overwatch 2 doesn't deserve to live, it deserves to burn to the ground. I'll gladly keep the characters tho, an Overwatch Movie would be lit.

My introduction to the series
I’m sorry to hear that
@@billyboleson2830 why?
Damn, literally all of this video is depressing as all get out. It wouldn't hurt as much, if it wasn't all true : /
I vowed after I waited 2 YEARS for Cyberpunk; that is the last game I will ever preorder.
And they later abandoned Battlefront 2 to create Shitfield 2042
Cyberpunk pretty siq imo
