    Wanted the Stihl, but needed the split shaft. Had to adjust the Husqvarna carb out of the box, but wasn’t that bad. Also grabbed the 128LD factory recertified with warranty for less than 150 bucks. Can’t be too mad.

    I use the Husqvarna 128LD to trim and cut grass at a car dealership (was doing a little today!) and I can confidently say that it is a good trimmer.
    If I was to buy a new one for myself or for the lot I would likely go with the STIHL 56 RC-E for the longer shaft and general build quality. (Our STIHL 026 still runs like new after 20+ years!)

    Hey exterminator I just went to my dealer and got a stihl fs56rc man I love it I know it's not commercial but my dealer told me a lot of lawn guys are buying them and they are holding up commercially really well as long as I use stihl oil or echo or husky oil I'll be fine for years the only thing I did notice on mine it doesn't have the spark plug protected boot I don't know why maybe the newer models don't have it thanks for your awesome videos I'm hooked man my wife is kicking my ass always buying new equipment lol.

I put gas in it and it started bogging. I tried tuning it, and the plug fouled. I got a new carb and plug, it runs better than before and has more power

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I currently use a Toro corded electric model to trim around our home. But, have to now also trim grass in a ~60'-75' long by 10' wide gravel driveway well overgrown (for years) with weeds and grass. Thus, am considering a gas powered one (such as the Stihl one in your video), to trim said ~1' tall grass. (My first choice is a curved shaft model of the same in your video. [I'm 5'8" guy, slim to med build]. But I don't know any better). What makes the straight shaft in your video more attractive to you, please? And what are your thoughts regarding the curved shaft model, kindly? Thank you. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, tonyd\.

    • @exterminator1
      @exterminator1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Curved shafts are terrible>i have a stihl curved shaft(its on my channel). Height doesnt matter really.One of the guys that work for me is id say 5'6 or so? He loves the long straight shafts now. I could talk for hours why they are better.I recommend just trying one and you will see.the straight shaft stihl fs56 in this vid is only 199 now.Will last you for years upon years.

    • @somewhereusa9602
      @somewhereusa9602 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear eXterminator, thank you so very much for your reply. Please forgive my pestering, but why exactly do you prefer a straight shaft over curved, kindly. ¿Is it because the straight shaft machines last longer? ¿Or because the reach on a straight is better for all around trimming? This is very important to me, as I'm on a restricted budget, and am hoping to no make a mistake in possible purchase. (I like the curved shaft model because it's the lightest, and I'm only 5'-8", slim-med build, as mentioned). If you can expound your answer, I would very much appreciate it. (I'm already delighted that you answered my initial inquiry. I value an end user's opinion most, as their experience is invaluable). Thank you so much, again. (I hope you have time to answer my questions). God Bless.

    • @exterminator1
      @exterminator1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Straight shaft is literally better in every way.More power,more durable,more reach,more comfort,less vibration,lasts longer and on and on.If weight is your primary concern , get a husqvarna 322.Or if your budget allows a stihl 94r or husqvarna 525.As they are around 10 pounds.Lightest on the market.the husqvarna 128 in this vid is good but a little on the heavy side.

    • @somewhereusa9602
      @somewhereusa9602 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear eXteminator, thank so much for your prompt reply and your advice. (From an end user, means much more). Thank you very much. I will give it more thought. I'll have to go and actually hold both (the ones you recommend), the Stihl FS 56, and the Husqvarna 322, to see how I can handle them. Thank you very much. God Bless all your good endeavors.

Even using the $98,000 a gallon pre mixed. My 128 starts first pull. 10 x prime. One pull full choke. Then half choke one pull. My apologies I'm sold on husky.

    I have a 128LD and a FS45 (a curved shaft version of the 56, mine was before the face lift). The 128ld has been on the market a long time and hasn't had any face lifts or improvements, so I expect a newer model to hit the market soon. That specific 56 you have is the newer version, I agree with most of what you said. I ended up porting the muffler on the 128ld and it gave it more power. I have phased my 128ld out though, it had way too many hours put on it in such a small time(that's were the 224L came along). It ran a brush cutter attachment very well though! My biggest gripe with the husqvarna was the spring starter and I hated the carb on the Stihl. I'm not a fan of any of the spring type starting systems from any of the brands.

    Dear eXterminator, thank you for your video(s). ¡I was able to try my friend's Echo 225 today! (Well, his vintage Echo is a 210 or 215 [gray case], but, I believe, it has the same engine as today's model 225, ~21.2 cc). What impressed me was the lower than normal noise level. It seemed lower to me than many of other trimmers I hear my neighbors use. Question: ¿Is this Echo 225 trimmer as good as the Stihl 56, please? I believe the Stihl has a larger engine, and thus may have more torque. But perhaps also more engine noise (don't know, please elaborate, if possible, kindly).
    I plan to (first purchase and) use a trimmer to cut 1(ft) tall grass on a 10(ft)x50(ft) driveway, and a 10(ft)x15(ft) back 'yard' of a local lot. (Said grass also contains some short weeds, such as ragweed/golden_rod types growing amongst the grass). But my main concern is the tall grass. (I'm pulling said tall weeds by hand to clear this driveway and small back yard in the said lot). Is your impression that the said Echo 225 is as good, or nearly as good as the Stihl 56? ¿Do you find the noise level from the Stihl 56 louder than the Echo 225? If the two said trimmers are comparable in cutting action, my preference is for the Echo because of the reduced noise level. Any and all comments on power and efficiency of use/cut is much appreciated.
    Please forgive my many questions, as I'm trying to avoid making a mistake in my first purchase of one of these string trimmers. Thank you so much for your help. (Experienced end user input, comments, and recommendations are much appreciated, especially by inexperienced folks as myself). Please forgive my many pestering questions. God Bless all your good endeavors. Respectfully, tonyd\.

      The stihl 56 has a lot more power than the 225 echo.Both are good.225 is longer though.225 has better handles.the MOST important thing is dealer support.No matter which you choose find a good dealer.Also see my other vids,I have most brands.I like my echo,stihl and husqvarna.But i do NOT recommend a tanaka.I somehow missed this comment.So good luck!

    I have a Husqvarna 223L which is considered a semi pro/homeowner model it is three years old.and has since been replaced by a different model. This trimmer is all but unstoppable. Cuts brush with ease with the grey Husqvarna line. Has the spring.loades starting system which is awesome. Iget no fatigue at all it is so light. I bought a 128ld only and specifically because it has the split shaft and fits.my.pole saw, hedge trimmer and edger attachment because the 4 stroke split shaft Craftsman I had bought these attachments for did not have enough power in my opinion. The 128Husqvarna had no problem with them. If I were only using as a trimmer I would skip.the entry level Stihl and get the semi Pro Husqvarna as the 223L was $249.00 + tax. That model blows either of these out of the water.

    I paid $199 for my 128 ld. And with the 5% discount for being a Lowe's preffered customer it was 208 out the door. With 9 % sales tax. And I don't care about the length of the shaft. I don't give a crap. I don't use the stock attachment usually anyways on a split shaft.

    I had a husky 326ls, total piece of crap. If you had good luck, it started and ran good. Sometimes it would be hard to start and wouldnt idle. Sometimes it wouldn't run without startin fluid. I checked the metering diaphragm, it was stuck in the down position. I was done with it. I wasn't ordering a new carb for something I got for free. It was a 2012 model. My dad has 2 128lds. A 2014 and 2019. They start easy and run good. His 2019 got hot, and wouldnt start back up. He smashed it and the attachment connecter wobbles. The 2014 is what I use. Perfect, other than some sun faded plastic.

      eXterminator Cool! I have a Stihl blower that has been great. Just put a new carb on it after 7 years. Both it and my 223l Husqvarna Trimmer start about the same. The 128 in my opinion is a lesser being so doesn't start as easily but gives you maximum versatility for the money which is it's purpose and it is truly intended as a box store model. Nice vids!

      Try the Husqvarna 525L it is absolutely vicious towards anything green but solid wood like brush with the string, great on fuel, lightweight, won't burn your arm like on other trimmers, quick and easy to start plus it's not loud. I have yet to have any negatives for it. I run stihls and this 525L is equally as powerful if not slightly more than my Stihl KM-94R. This thing is a beast and really gets it done.

      The Husqvarna 525L is a great machine. All past issues with high heat causing burns, starting issues, excessive vibration, power and fuel consumption have been taken care of in the five hundred series trimmers 525 535 and 545. I have a 525L on my mowing team and it is an absolute beast. Worth every penny. With string it goes through anything and everything green and growing even if it is thick and very tall except saplings and hard wood like brush. With a clearing or brush blade this thing is a unstoppable force that drops and levels anything up to three inch trees. And all this is from a guy that runs stihl professional series equipment. I love them equally and might buy another 525L for the team. Very impressed
      with this one. 10 out of 10.
