I've owned all 3 and I say overall the 525's are my favorite. I just picked up a Echo 266 and to my surprise I like everything about it over the 2620. It's has about the same power, much better balanced, and doesn't vibrate the hell out of you like the 2620!

Husky 525 series is a beast, plus best stock head and good anti vibe. My understanding in looking at the parts is it’s a Zenoah engine from Redmax.

The reason they bought redmax was the engine. They call them xtorq when in their husky products

I like the deeper rumble of my Stihl 131. I think a string trimmer is pretty loud and annoying to most people regardless if its a 2 or a 4 stroke. Its a loud small engine that barely has a muffler and fairly high pitch either way. Its fun for us guys pulling the throttle though. I liked your video and its really cool how much passion you have for you work tools. I really love my gear too.

I have never cared what others think anyway...you have to use what makes you or your employees happy. I personally prefer Echo over Stihl in all of their products. I can't say about Husqvarna the only equipment I have used from them was a chainsaw... Which that was excellent. I just prefer the ergonomics and ease of maintenance and fast starting of all my Echo stuff. I love your insight on equipment or 2cycle oil. Keep making your videos your way and thanks I would like to see a price comparison between the 3

I’ve got a Stihl KM94r and just sold a 2620T to buy the 525lst. I’ve got very little time on the Husky so far, but it’s my favorite. Feels much more refined than the other 2. Seems to have comparable power to the 2620T, maybe better usable power. I think it’s supposed to have a 2:1 head like the Echo, but it seems to spin the line up a little quicker. So far, so good. No regrets

Only reason I won’t ever go for a husky is because I heard they have issues with their gear heads when you take off the guards which causes them to come loose.

Thanks for the honest review. I'm not tribal and been interested to see an objective comparison. I've had two of those Stihls over the past seven years as part of my Combi system. Great little machine. Only criticism is the lack of a pin to lock the attachment in place- it relies only on the clamp and so you have to tighten it up to prevent it rotating or sliding out which eventually results in the clamp bolt thread stripping. Love the weight, engine is economical and adequately powerful for all of the attachments I have, and proven to be totally reliable. Held the Echo in the shop, seemed heavy and didn't like all its entrails being a bit exposed and visible, their industrial design could do with some improvement in comparison. Also thought the Husqvarna felt heavier but may have been mistaken. Thanks again, appreciated the vid.

In my opinion Echo is much better than the Husqvarna...I've had both.
I have a Husqvarna Rancher 455 20" chainsaw and I have used it for like 8 years and runs awesome!
The Stihl commercial unit is quite good but I think for the money the Echo is the better unit.
Sounds like the only problem you have with the Echo unit is it is heavier. I believe heavier is typically stronger.
My Echo is super smooth...never get any vibration. Maybe your head is out of balance...lol!
Like you said...all of this boils down to personal preference.

      @exterminator1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

i have went thru maybe 6 to 10 heads.has no change.compared to the others it does in fact vibrate more.it is heavier but it doesnt use its weight wisely.it has a braded cable and oversized plastic.wished it would have a solid shaft like the husky.or even a steel flex like stihl.dont get me wrong i enjoy my 2620t.i use it every week with my others.but i cant lie so i say it like it is.i have also attacked husqvarna(see other vids) and stihl lol.so i say it as straight forward as i can.i like all the top brands.Yes personal preference my friend :)

@@exterminator1 You should try the Shindaiwa T262. It is the same as the Echo 2620 only painted in Shindaiwa red. It has Shindaiwa's tube, handle, throttle etc. The unit is really balanced and feels light. There's also not too much vibration. I have owned FS94 and 525LST over the past 4 years. The Shindaiwa T262 beats the other two. It has more power, better balance, and more efficiency than the other two.

Find ya a rock or a piece of concrete or something hard and run it down on that. Make sure your running the line away from you and in a safe direction in case a piece snaps off. Keep a steady and consistent distance off of said rock so u get the same length on both ends and run her down till she feels good and balanced. You wont regret taking that guard off if your contracting. Just make sure to keep it with you at all times in case something happens you can slap her back on there so your insurance will cover damages 😉

I found a Stihl FS-45 in the trash 12 years ago. It was my first quality machine and I feel in love. Then I went to get parts and was frustrated I could only get parts when the dealer was open on business days and they were all proprietary. So I got the Husqvarna 125BT (Kawasaki in orange color) then got a 128LD the following year. I switched to Kawasaki handheld stuff before they went out of business, grabbing a hedge trimmer. Purchased the 455 Rancher around this time as well. Next got a PB500T from Echo as I wanted to try them out and needed more power, had carb issues after a year and rebuilt the carb and hadn't had issues since. I got a brush cutter for the 128LD and cut a 30 acre brush field filled with samplings and absolutely destroyed the quick attach coupler. The job paid for the trimmer so I next got the 224L with the Honda and found it to be the be a good medium of exactly what I wanted from a trimmer. And have been focusing on Husqvarnas and Honda 4 strokes since. I have some random machines too, a Stihl MS 015 and 180, a Redmax trimmer I can't get parts for, a PE-225. No major complaints out of the major brands. Waiting for you to buy an Efco and do a review, so I don't have to and I wan't to see how an Italian machine is!

Thank you for the reply! Do the rubber bushings for the anti vibration wear out after a few years? Rubber does tend to harden over time. I saw your video replacing the grip but I assume that you were replacing it because it was broken, rather than worn out.

Also, would you recommend an LST or LS if I go with the 525. I'm not using it commercially but we have a section in our yard that grows about shin to knee height weeds in the spring. I need to cut those down from time to time but after that, for the rest of the year, I'll be using the trimmer to edge and to cut where the mower can't reach. Thanks again!

Thank you for answering all my newbie questions! So for my uses, would you still recommend the LST? I've read some people's comments that with just short grass trimming, the LST's head is too slow. But then I also read people say that the LS bogs down when used on heavier weeds. Again, no commercial use for me and most of my uses will be edging and regular trimming. I just don't want the unit to start bogging whenever I have to use to on heavier stuff from time to time. Nothing crazy but a huge part of our fenced in backyard is just mulched. That's the part that I'm trying to prevent overgrown weeds.

Shawn Edwards I’ve not been happy with my stihl after the first year of service its went down hill standing right beside my husqvarna 326L same fuel same oil even same string. The husqvarna ate the air filter In the intake the primer bulb is rotted off and it still runs (with no filter) or bulb. Now is that a testament or what? I just broke it down to do a rebuild and maintenance so since it’s out of service I picked up the 2620 echo and I hope I like it I haven’t used it just held it and I must say it feels promising. Another thing I’d like to say is that stihl is by far the most difficult to service echo being the easiest provided that Home Depot sells the youcan kits online and in store so you don’t have to source all of these things out yourself just by the kit and be done. With all that being said I hate stihl with the inteli carb or whatever the junk is that prevents you from tuning it and I love husqvarna, and hope to like echo. If you look up the reviews "popular mechanics" reviewed the echo slightly better than husqvarna, I just went out shopping for a trimmer and after looking at all 3 of these makes I went with the ECHO for the most part is because I trust the "popular mechanics" review and the ECHO came with a 5 year warranty where the others offers just 2 years or less unless I paid extra for the warranty itself.

Mannn I’m so back an forth. I’ve leaning toward the 525LST. I have a great full line husky dealer. But MY dealer, I run Scag, and my dealer carries echo an stihl, that’s my dilemma. I run the speed feed heads. I’ve had 94r in past like them a lot. Currently in a 91r an the 4mix gotta go. They were out of 94r that day an my old one had locked up hence why I ended up in the 91. Maybe I should get the 94r or 2620T an stay at one dealer but dang the 525 LST is really nice

eXterminator that’s kind of what I’m thinking as well. I’ve had the 94r in the past. It’s a good trimmer but does feel kinda of weak and underpowered sometimes. I got three years out of mine before it locked up. I run the speed feed heads anyway so I’m thinking if I buy from my scag dealer I’ll go echo. But my Husqvarna dealer is only 15 minutes away from the house...I run the 570 husky blower already and may stick with their blowers if they release a 590 (9500 redmax next year) thanks man. You’ve helped me at least eliminate the 94r. Biggest thing I don’t like about the 2620T is the “ears” the black plastic shrouds that stick out what you were saying you hit your elbow on. Other than that I really like the 2620T. I like everything about the 525LST.

I'd take among these three, or a Redmax BCZ260TS which is not in the choices here. Both have great power, light weight, and proven Walbro carbs.
I hate Echo's weight and ergonomics, and as of late questionable reliability. (All my X-series stuff has given problems.) And after owning both SRM260, and SRM260S models, the difference is clear. A solid shaft is lighter, and does make a noticeable difference in power. Echo was stupid to go with a cable on a flagship commercial trimmer. Pair that with a cheap Chinese Zama carb and it's a no go for me.
FS94R is too weak. It's a good trimmer, is light, but not enough power for me, and it's got a Chinese Zama carb.

I think you may have just gotten a bad batch. I've got a whole line of x series equipment. The two trimmers have been used in heavy duty commercial applications going on four seasons now. School systems, housing authorities, and cemeteries. Both still run like there fresh off the shelf. I think there all guilty of making lemons ery now and then. Gotta keep clean air filters on em, grease in the head, use good fuel and mix, and run wide open and a trimmer will last.

I have a 20 year old fs120, the plastic on it looks no more worn than that one, don't underestimate that plastic. What I don't like about it how-ever, is the way the filler cap sticks out and the tank flexes around. Putting it in my ute I'm always worried about breaking something eventually because the side of it is jammed up against the wheel arch in the back. I like the husqy design, flush all round.
