Basically, what everyone complained about high prices on midsize trucks a couple years ago and threatening to not buy them have now become accepted as normal prices, even accepting the rise of $2k+ - $3k+ from last year’s prices. Manufacturers understand the American public will accept anything as normal. After the initial shock, they just have to wait them out then they’ll accept it as normal…and even find excuses for why its the “New” normal.
My 2019 Colorado Z71 was 41k MSRP. In 2024 dollars that was a 50k truck. I got a 2024 Colorado ZR2 in March. MSRP on that one was 55.8k. In 2019 that would have been around 46k. I did get my 19 for around 34.5k after all discounts and taxes though so I did get a good deal on it and that would have made it about 44kish in 2024 dollars. The actual "value" of these trucks hasn't changed much despite the huge technological leap from the 2nd gen to 3rd gens. It's inflation that was caused by the COVID response.
Think the best new deal is the trail boss. It was decent offroader with the exra width and lift but it had such a spartan interior. Now they've added some nice options without going overboard ie heated seats, steering wheel, additional safety equipment
The WT seems to get the biggest bang for the buck in changes for 2025. If you do your own lift along with some Bilsteins you have Trail Boss on the cheap.
This is great news, but I'm still choked that GM refuses to pair the heated steering wheel with heated seats package. WTF ?? Who on earth wants heated seats WITHOUT a heated steering wheel?? If it's cold enough to need/want heated seats, give me the steering too you goof balls
I dont give a f about heated seats or heated steering wheel. Layer up, wear gloves, or use your heater before you get in the vehicle so fast. Awww you want a warm tushie? Awwww here you go to warm up *hands bottle of jizz* These guys want to drive rugged looking vehicles yet complain when their truck won't change their diaper for them. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡 adult children.
I had a loaded 18. 3.6. Loved it. There a pros and cons to these new ones. I just can’t wrap my head around the 2.7 nor going into a menu to turn on your lights. Nice info!
To be fair when was the last time anybody used headlights that weren't set to auto in the last decade. The only time I ever messed with my headlights is to turn them off if I pull into work too early and there's homeowners around
@ I can respect that view. But if your screen takes a dump and you have no light functions and your driving at night, there is no switch to toggle. You’re at the mercy of a screen that can fail, and reports say many do. Goes back to the “Don’t fix it if it isn’t broke” mentality
The lack of heated seats on the 2024 trail boss was one reason I was looking at Z71 or XLT Ranger. Now with the 2025 trail boss offering the new features its really going to give the ranger a run for the money because I suspect the trail boss will end up cheaper. The only thing the trail boss is missing is electronic locker (versus the G80). If they offered that it would be a home run.
My powertrain got discontinued this year. I got the Low Output 2.7l Turbo (L2R) and the Light Duty 8 speed transmission (8L45) in Rear Wheel Drive. It’s been fantastic though I’ve got over 55k miles on my truck so far.
I think im gonna hassle for a 24 colorado trail boss for 30k or under as my first stop in December ... if they say no I will tell them that's fine I'll go buy a frontier... pretty sure that's my game plan
Bringing some of those options to the trail boss just my decision way harder. lol Honestly now all thats holding me back is the lack of charging ports and no bose speaker option
Not sure if the tb has all those options. But the zr2 is just bought has the bose and 2 usb in front a 12v in the couple 2 usb in the back, a 120 in back and 120 in bed
Actually, like-for-like for a '25 Colorado WT 4WD ($36,795) vs 24 Colorado WT TurboMax 4WD adding Convenience Pack and Safety Pack (which are all standard on 2025) of $36,900 --- the 2025 ended up being $105 cheaper than 2024 comparable. A win for WT, really (now I'm pissing that I could have gotten more for less in 2025)
I’m glad I got a 2024 ZR2 51,000 fully loaded for 46,000 OTD. Good luck getting a 2025 for under 49 now that they start at 51,000💀 A price change of about $3,000 increase is insane before options are added.
Kinda pissed my ‘24 Canyon doesn’t have the heated mirrors. They are nice to have here in New England. Would be nice if manufacturers would just offer a “cold weather” package on all their vehicles.
Watched the video and checked GM's page. Curious if the TB got a tilt and telescope wheel without Z71 package. Get's a lot of other nice upgrades but didn't see anything about that.
@@Jason-Samko thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking of getting the Z71, just because of some of the features, but like the looks of the Trailboss and Zr2, but don't need the Zr2. Still thinking.
I bought my Colorado ZR2 a couple of weeks ago and added several more options above an already well equipped truck. I'm very pleased so far.
