Last summer I used my emergency brake and it dragged, destroyed the right rear drum, went steel on steel. I replaced all the brakes but thought at the time it was a sticking slave cylinder. I replaced all those, but I didn't address the cables. I'm using my brakes on inclines, I would like to convert to disc's because of this, sometimes you just need your brakes
Next video- how to fix that parking pawl!!
Great idea! Thank you!
I live in Michigan and I have never used the parking brake, I have only owned automatics and just put them in park. As a matter of fact I've always been scared to pull it because has never been used and may stick on. Take that back I had a 79 Chevy Monza that would do a wicked spin when You Yanked the handle in the snow. That car you drive out the passenger window.
Jim - what about eliminating the cable system all together and installing one of the aftermarket hydraulic line parking brake locks?
Great question! We can cover that in this weeks videos :)
If I had a dollar every time a random part from a Jeep Cherokee was useful for other things, I'd be rich!
What year Jeep Cherokee?
Keep in mind that there is a newer Jeep Cherokee. Are you speaking about the older XJ built from 1984 to 2001, often with the 4.0-liter I6?
