      It saves so much time and allows me to easily clean detailed parts that I wouldn't even consider cleaning before. I saved up for a new computer but bought the laser cleaner instead. So it still takes forever to edit on this 11 year old computer but time saved in the garage is worth it!

    That laser cleaning machine awesome and a time saver . Wish I could afford one. I could start a small cleaning shop for small parts!

      I've considered doing the same for small engine parts that couldn't be sand blasted. It could be some extra income to help pay for the machine.

    You are an inspiration for my project. She’s an unmolested 1981 (square headlight) 4x4 Toyota long bed which I have been acquiring parts for. I so desperately want to drive the hell out of it, but she’s been parked since 1990, so she’s going to get a thorough makeover before I drive it.

      The good news is that these old toyotas still run great after sitting. Just go through the fluids and fuel system first. Spray some WD into each cyl and let it sit for a bit before turning it over . (crank it w/o plugs to lubricate internals first)

    That laser is so cool to watch in action… brings back some awesome memories of my Toyota pickup days. Wish I would have never got rid of mine 84 xtra cab 4x4.. ☹️ but I like your shop truck built.. keep up the great job..

    You are getting great use out of that laser cleaner, what an amazing tool. So I guess it is the heat from the laser that is doing the work, not some sort of electrical, chemical reaction, is that correct? Actually, Im not sure I have that right, idk how heat would remove rust. Just made me wonder when I saw you use it on the alternator.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Actually there are two types of machines. Continuous Wave uses heat. Mine is a pulsed machine that uses pulses instead of heat. More about the two types here: th-cam.com/video/rQxZAFO8vx4/w-d-xo.html around the 2:10 mark.

      It's an old Fastrack that I've had for about 20 years now. I've thought about upgrading, but I've taken good care of it and it's still treating me well! Here's a closer look at it: th-cam.com/video/-7crLpPBceE/w-d-xo.html (and yes that repair is still holding up!)

    6:11 is that an original Toyota 22R engine? Im not familiar with the markings on the block there. Maybe its just an older engine than Im used to.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a 20R. I had a temporary valve cover on it from a 22R while I was painting the original Valve cover. As far as I know, this is the original engine for the truck.

  • @drewfleming7065

    You are running the Weber with a fuel regulator???? OEM fuel pump is 7psi, Webers only need 2.5 to 4 psi...any more and they flood and run really rich....wipe your rings out.......Will that laser clean carbon off piston tops and ring groves??? Sure works on that engine....

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it has a regulator, I didn't have it back on the engine yet at the end of the video. The laser does a great job at cleaning pistons. I have some before/during/after video footage that I'll put together.

  • @informative_walrus
    @informative_walrus 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    great work, .....but I have a hard time justifying going to that much work and not at least throwing on some new rings and bearings, dingle hone the cyninders? I mean you were so close already.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aside from the leaking front seal, the engine was in excellent shape... the best part of the truck.

    I hope that oven is a dedicated curing oven and not really the one you use for food... Using an oven to bake paint or powder coating then making your food in it is extremely dangerous as the paints are toxic.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've only heard that about powder coating. Because the paint is already completely dry, it only makes the kitchen smell a little (I opened up the house)

      They used to use it on brake pads and clutches back in the day... the engine block itself doesn't have asbestos in it.

    22R on the valve cover, 20R on the block and Ford blue....Is it an Ohio thing? To much salt?? LOL

      @6thGearGarage  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The engine is a 20R. I had a temporary valve cover on it from a 22R while I was painting the original Valve cover. Yeah, Ford was the only blue... a little lighter than the exterior of the truck. Always too much salt lol.
