    after playing chopping for more than 15 years and trying many different rubbers with varying sponge thickness i hav realised... any player can adapt to any rubber with practice , and getting to higher levels is really on how much u put from ur side. Having said that i also believe at lower levels( like interstate and higher intermediate level..which is still quite competitive level)OX pimple is very effective. I hav played good with fl3 n p4 ..but its a lot of hard work..currently using dornenglanz 2 ox, and its troubling a lot of opponents. unless someone is playing the world elite players, ox will take u a long way. butterfly rubbers are usually very high quality but in our hands it doesnt make any difference, lol.

      I think I agree and can understand your idea. OX is the most effective and disruption rubber. Long pimple push( short chop ??? on the table ) is difficult skill. Long pimple rubber with sponge is needed to create spin or change yourself. So hardwork. Thank you very much for watching my video anyway!

    I think B was made for mostly at the table , chop block (especially) and counter attack, particularly hitting high ball pushes. S seems much more like a chopping rubber in the style of TSP Curl P1r to complement Feint Long 3.

      Thank you for watching! Like grippy long pimple, it is still better performance than my expectation. Normally deception or spin reversal will be lower. But it still has good balance. Thank you for your comment!

    How is ilius on a fast blade? Which pairs better with an offensive blade? S or B

    • @thankstabletennis3038
      @thankstabletennis3038  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think Ilius will be good for bit faster blade like offensive blade. Because I feel it is slower than usual long pimple. If so, in my idea, it is better to put Ilius S on offensive blade. If you would like to put Ilius on defensive blade to attack, Ilius B will be good. Thank you very much for watching!

    I use Curl P1R 1.1mm on by backhand on Donic Defplay Senso V3 blade. I find that though it is comfortable to use and quite effective to chop with away from the table, I am not able to use attacking strokes (jabs, blocks, side swipes) close to the table as effectively. This becomes a problem that gets exploited by my opponents.
    Would you suggest a different thickness or a different long pips to use to boost my attack prospects? Or do you feel I just need work on my technique?

      Thank you for watching my channel always! I think Ilius still has high potential with carbon blade like feint long 3. In my idea, if you are attacker, ilius is ok with ALC or Fleece carbon. But sponge thickness need to be 1.3mm in my idea. If you prefer 1.1mm or 0.5mm, 7 ply wood(not too fast) and 5 ply are ok as well. Of course everything is depend on what skill you use a lot in your game.^^ hank you!

    Nice videos for these Ilius.
    I actually play with a Metal TT Death, a long pimples in Ox but I would like to be able to vary more, put more pressure on the opponent with more blocks and attacks. I play more close to the table but also move back to chop. I first thought to switch to a medium pimple or an anti but since I see these vidéos on the Ilius, I wonder if it would suit me. As I want to avoid a big change in speed and weight, I would probably choose the 1.1mm but the B or the S, that's the question. Which one of the two is the more versatile ? For a game close and far from the table ?
    Thanks

      @thankstabletennis3038  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and your question! I think Ilius is totally different type and feeling of long pimple. So If you would like to switch from OX to 1.1mm, you may feel big difference. I worry about that part and also I wonder about disruption and weight. Both are flexible and if you would like to chop at far from table, I think S is better in my idea. Thank you and hope you find best way for your table tennis! Good Luck!

    Nice video, I want to learn to play as a chopper, I am making a new chopper racket, for the blade I will get Diode V, for the backhand I will get llius S o.5mm, but I have no idea for the forehand, any recommendation, which thickness is better for chopper play? I am using D09C 2.1mm on my normal racket right now. Is that ok to use D09C in chopper play?

    • @thankstabletennis3038
      @thankstabletennis3038  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much for watching! My friend who he is chopper is using D09c very well. Short chop on the table and attack against back spin are awesome! Besides I like D09c's irregular bound as chopper. D09c is excellent rubber. By the way, I also tried D09c.I though I could use D09c like chinese rubber like hurricane. But when I chop with Diode V, it was different from chinese rubbe and bit hard to control height for me.(I know I am not good enough to control the height...^^) But other skills were very good and I am still considering of combination with D09c. About back hand rubber, I also tried 0.5mm. It was new feeling and could make more back spin (of course not a lot. Just tiny bit spin ^^ But it is good enough and very important for chopper) than other blade when I did short chop against backspin. Diode V is fast blade and I couldn't make backspin with 0.5mm sponge well. I really got surprised with Butterfly new sponge for long pimple. I am going to test Diode V with 1.1mm when I have time. Hope you enjoy TT with that new setup! Thank you!

    Nice video! I am a chopper (both forehand and backhand chop) and I currently use feint long III (1.3 mm) for backhand and tackiness chop (1.7 mm) for forehand on the butterfly blade innershield layer zlf. I am climbing in my table tennis level and I beginning to be unhappy with feint long III. What long pimple robber do you recommend for a higher level of play?

    • @thankstabletennis3038
      @thankstabletennis3038  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you very much for watching! And also thank you for letting me know your set up of equipment. I also like innershield's grip. It is very beautiful ^^ For beginner and thinking about getting feeling of chopping feeling(brushing feeling for making backspin), slow blade and slow rubber are good. But in my idea, chopper needs to think about 2 type of brashing for chopping in general. One is long chop, one is short chop. But important thing is against different type of spin.
      Long chop must be against top spin. Short chop must be against back spin. Feint long 3 is originally very good rubber for short chop even with thinner sponge like 0.5mm with mid to fast defensive blade. So I think long chop will be problem with you for thinking of your future. In my opinion, chopper try to keep good balance with skill and equipment. And I must think about your feeling ,exact levels and your opponent for selecting your equipment. Anyway I am not sure some parts about your table tennis, I would like to suggest a few things. One is like I said before, in my idea you try to use bit thinner sponge like 0.5 or 1.1mm and rubber which has more spin reversal and disruption like Curl P-4(Victas V4? now?) or Stiga Vertical 20 with innershield(if you like innershield
      's feeling). If you like rubber like feint long 3, you still can use those rubber, and can keep good balance of long and short chop, I think. If you prefer thicker sponge, let's think second choice like trying thick and harder sponge like Vertical 55. Then we may need to start thinking of weight as well.
      Even though chopper feel easy to control to chop, however opponent also feels easy to attack against your chop, it is not perfect choice for you. That's why selecting equipment is very very difficult and important ^^ at the same time, it is so fun...Very sorry for long message. These are all my private opinion and selfish idea. Hope these will be even bit helpful for you. Good luck and enjoy table tennis! When I have time, I would like to make video about equipment for chopper as well in the future. Thank you for asking!

    Thank you for sharing this. How do you feel about butterfly's new rubbers? Especially Ilius S? Is it something modern defenders should consider using, can it compete with the legendary P1-R? Or is P1-R still 'the best' choice for choppers?

    • @thankstabletennis3038
      @thankstabletennis3038  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching! I think Ilius is different type of rubber from Curl P-1R. I also used to use Curl P-1R. It was good rubber. But short chop (making back spin against back spin or no spin ball) was little difficult for me. Ilius is really easy to grip the ball. Ilius is easier to short chop than Curl P-1R. When I changed to CurlP-1R with thicker sponge (around 1.5mm) , I felt better for short chop. But blade got much heavier...^^ Which thickness of Curl P-1R are you using? Thank you!

      @@PAVEXDPL Thank you for your reply! Curl P-1R 1.5mm still has good spin reversal and disruption. And in my case, accidently and suddenly my short chop got spin. So I got surprise too...^^ It is really excellent rubber. Ilius S's thickest sponge is 1.3mm. And disruption is lower than Curl P-1R. Sponge is hard but Ilius is slower than Curl P-1R in my feeling. So ball will be shorter than Curl P-1R when I chop. Short chop feeling is really different from Curl P-1R. Sorry for long message. Hope this will be even bit helpful for you. But these all are my feeling and private opinion. Thank you very much!

    Hi to all. Great video. I am getting back to table tennis after injury and you videos motivate me even more. I would like to ask you a question. I used to be aggressive attacker (maze carbon + bryce on both sides). Now I tend to play more hybrid way, partially due to my injury and years of not playing. Based on advice I switched to more defensive style of play.
    I use Bimo Boll allround and Rozena (1.9) on FH and Challenger (1.7) on BH. Forhand is OK, but I have problem with chops form backhand side. I am struggling to invert incoming topspin to back spin. It usually produces a no spin ball.
    Can you advise me if it is a problem of my developing skills or it could be because SP?
    Thank you!

      Thank you very much for watching! And welcome back to table tennis! Hope you enjoy TT!
      About your setup and problem, I need to know more detail about how you play like your swing speed, how close from the table...etc.(might be my poor english level as well... Sorry ^^)
      At the moment, I only can say some things.
      In the general, The idea of opponent against chopper like you, about chopper with short pimple, when the chopper do short chop against back spin, spinny ball will come back. But when the chopper do long chop against topspin like loop, no spin ball or not spinny ball will come back. Originally short pimple is like that rubber for chopper in my idea. Long pimple is totally opposite side of short or inverted rubber. Higher level of short pimple chopper, they can started return spinny backspin ball against loop. Make sure short pimple is harder than long pimple to use for chopper. I don't say challenger is not good rubber. But equipment should be fit or much for your idea and style of table tennis. Or player should change for equipment. Normally 1st one is short cut way to improve. What I can suggest is trying similar rubber which you still can keep your style as much as you can. Now there are more many choices for chopper than before. Ilius will be one of choice too in my idea. Sorry for long message. Selecting equipment is very difficult and important for chopper. These are all my private idea. So it may not be for you. Hope you can find good way to enjoy TT! Thank you!
