It happened because of a very close relation between the Churh and the nation throughout history, and numerous wars with religious undertones. Actually a first polish anthem was "Gaude Mater Poloniae" from 12 century. However Bogurodzica is much better known. It's very symbolic because Polish people were always very "Marian". This "abhorrent communist architecture" actually makes Warsaw unique on architecture's side. You have baroque and clacissist noble palaces only steps away from the monuments of Stalinist "social realism" like the Palace of Culture and Science (i recommend googling it) or the Constitution Square. In some other places, you have memorials for sites no longer present because Nazi Germany burned them to the ground... Warsaw's architecture is like a symbol for unpredictable whirlwinds of history. If you would like to place another polish song, there's one, that would perfectly fit to others published on your channel. It's "Pieśń konfederatów Barskich". It's hymn of polish traditionalists, who opposed russian supremation, and revolution in polish law.
