I’ve made several pairs of these slippers too..and def give Stephanie credit for her pattern too 😃 when I crochet a bunch of them..I do all the soles first...I do the 4 sizes then label the soles in pairs ...small, med, lg and xlg ...and put them in a plastic bag until I’m ready to make the rest of the slipper for each...for me personally ...crocheting then sole takes more time..this way I get the sole out of the way and then onto making the rest of the slipper..I also sew suede patches on the bottom of the soles to make them non-slip..that’s my routine
Morbid Mary I tried that and the inside of the slipper was very uncomfortable and the recipient could feel the glue dots through the bottom of the slipper..as it isn’t padded so I had to peel off the glue dots as much as I could then I made a suede patch for the inside because I wasn’t able to remove all the glue dots..I then sewed suede patches on the bottoms..that’s only because I probably overdid it with the glue dots and made them too thick. However I think a suede patch would last longer than glue dots..you can get a bag of small suede patches in different colors on Amazon
I just finished making the x-large pair for my friend up north in Dallas. He likes red, so he will have these for Valentine’s Day. I like how you walked us through, step by step.

Stephanie Zed I would like to thank you for this video. I love my converse slippers. Did I say mine, lol actually my daughter took them so I will have to make another. A lady is asking me to make her one in a size 7/8 and said she has a wide foot. Will this 7/8 sole work for a wide foot and if not how would I widen it out without changing the sole size? Thank you
@Stephanie Zed Thank you so much for these videos. There is something very satisfying watching you crochet. I love everything about your video and that you add the text. I'm working on pair #4 at the moment. I do have 2 questions though. First one is for the soles. If I wanted to make 2 with stuffing in between, how would you suggest I go about connecting those without altering the rest of the shoe? (slip stitch, sc, etc? before adding white yarn to blo?) My 2nd question is for the shoe itself. I always seem to have an extra piece of yarn in the middle of the first lace hole but not the other holes. Is there a way to avoid this or am I doing something wrong here? Thanks again!!
For the sole, I have never done that, however, try making the inside sole the size smaller. On the last round of the outside sole, stitch them together. That might work. The other thing you could do is double the yarn for the sole to make it thicker.(you might have to go down a size). For the second question, I use my starting end of the yarn to "adjust" the eyelet. I think I might fast forward that part.😃
Excellent tutorial! Great video production quality, too. QUESTION: Please advise your recommendations for using chunky yarn such as a 5 or 6 wt. Thank you.

I use #4 medium weight yarn. If you notice, I actually do my single crochet with a yarn under. This actually make the stitch tighter. I also crochet quite tight. Maybe you could try that. 😊

Definitely with 2 threads the sole would be more sturdy. You would just have to measure as you go along. probably just omitting the last row. Have fun and let me know how they turned out.
I was wondering why my measurements weren't matching. I went back and rewatched the beginning of the video and she says a "4.5 G Hook". All my 4.5 hooks are G+ my G is a 4.0 just wanted to let you know in case the one you are doing doesn't match up. Her tutorial is awesome and well done. Could watch her for days!!!
I know what you mean. I was doing a shoe that I saw and they used a 1.70 and I used a 1.75. was much larger. Who would have thought that .05 would have made that much difference but it does. The # of stitches really adds up. Anyone know how to adjust a pattern by the needle size? I am not certain how but think there should be a way to do it. I am thinking it would be like half a stitch per inch in my case but not sure. It came out about a size 9 when was for a size 7. :( LOL They were using a #10 cotton thread doubled I believe. I had to guess at the size as they didn't give one. It was in Turkish.
Hello Stephanie, I am trying to make this sole but my measurements are not coming out correctly. I have used a smaller hook thinking it would work. Suggestions on what I may be doing wrong. Thank you!
How can I make it a bit wider & longer? I am trying to make this as soles for a pair of slippers my late dad gave my mom to replace the worn-out rubber soles, size 7. PLEASE help. I'll post my email, at your request if you need to contact me. Thank you.
@@StephanieZed , thank you for the fast reply. How could I make this work? I've never tried to make or replace a sole. What combination of hdc with what else, sc for the back and toes? I need to match the width and length of the rubber sole to replace it. I'm good ar following patterns, but never invented one. 😊
@@StephanieZed , thank you. I will try your recommendations or perhaps your video for the next size up, or both if need be, to see which works. Is it the same pattern just slightly different for the other sizes?
Do you have any videos for making soles for children’s sizes for slippers? I saw this video for adults and the one for baby converse, any sizes in between? My kids are 5 and 6.
Tried the XL pair was way to huge so i frogged it and made a large pair and there still huge :( sadly i cant frog those... so heres to making the medium and hoping they fit my managers feet... the large i feel like is the same size as the extra large and came out way to big as a slipper
Yesterday I found slipper bottoms called Souls on TH-cam and I crocheted one it measures 7 in by 3 in for a child I cannot find the pattern back help! Please
Couple of questions: should have sizes go up a size? And when creating the sole, while doing the first single stitches I noticed you wrap the yarn to the right on the first and to the left on the second stitch. Does it matter?
I do a yarn under. It just makes the stitch tighter. It is more like an “x” rather than a “v” in the stitch. Either way is fine. I don’t understand your first question. But make the sole just a bit smaller than your foot. It does stretch.
My American mm standard G hook is a 4.25 by Boye. The other hook I have has no brand name nore a letter, only the 4.0mm. For me to get a 4.5mm hook, I found I have to order because none of the craft stores I go to sells the 4.5mm.
You could try to double the yarn. Just for the sole. This will also give a thicker sole. And try a 5 mm hook. And remember, it will stretch. So a bit smaller than your foot is okay.
I have said it in a lot of comments and in videos I have put out after. I will put a note in the description. Thank you. That is why I like to get the tape measure out, just to show the size. 😃
Can you still do this pattern with a 4.25 mm G hook? That's the only size hook I have. I'd have to specially order a 4.5mm hook because none of the craft stores I get my yarn or hooks have a 4.5mm.
I thought I followed instructions completely, but ended up with an 11" sole, which is way too big for my needs. Ended up having to rip it all out. Not happy.

What a great idea for the sole. 😍
thin strips of hot glue or little dots of fabric glue work decently too if you have nothing else

Thank you, I am trying to get the sole to measure a size 9 foot. I am now using a 3.75 mm and looks like it may work out. 😁
i need to make a 11 1/2 size sole can you send me the information on how to do a size 11 1/2
How can I make it a bit wider & longer? I am trying to make this as soles for a pair of slippers my late dad gave my mom to replace the worn-out rubber soles, size 7. PLEASE help. I'll post my email, at your request if you need to contact me. Thank you.
Just put HDC or dc along the sides instead of sc.
@@StephanieZed , thank you for the fast reply. How could I make this work? I've never tried to make or replace a sole. What combination of hdc with what else, sc for the back and toes? I need to match the width and length of the rubber sole to replace it. I'm good ar following patterns, but never invented one. 😊
Unless I could see it in person, it’s hard to tell. I wish I could be more helpful. 😢 sorry.
@@StephanieZed , thank you. I will try your recommendations or perhaps your video for the next size up, or both if need be, to see which works. Is it the same pattern just slightly different for the other sizes?
Yes!👍🏼
Hi..is this strong enough without a rubber sole?
For indoor only. If you want to wear them outdoors, you should add a rubber sole.
I'm following the medium sole st
Nice beautiful
Thank you for sharing
Do you have any videos for making soles for children’s sizes for slippers? I saw this video for adults and the one for baby converse, any sizes in between? My kids are 5 and 6.
Not at this time. You could try the small size with smaller yarn and omit the last row. I will have to work on a child size. Thank for the comment.😃
Stephanie Zed Thank you so much for the tips! I’ll let you know how they turn out!
Will be same size if i use different yarn size?
Your size will vary when you have different hook size and yarn weight.
@@StephanieZed so how can i have same size pattern but different yarn size, can i actually?
Just take measurements as you go. Remember, the slipper will stretch as well. 😊😃
@@fof3904 you could do a swatch and get a count of stitches per inch then adjust needle size.
Is there a written pattern for this?
Just the video. 😊
What can we do after we do the sole
In the description is the link for the converse slippers.

Isnt there a missing size for 42-43
Thank you very nice and good explanation to understand.❤️it and ❤️U👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🎉🌹
Thank You 😊
ty for sharing. x
Tried the XL pair was way to huge so i frogged it and made a large pair and there still huge :( sadly i cant frog those... so heres to making the medium and hoping they fit my managers feet... the large i feel like is the same size as the extra large and came out way to big as a slipper
Update the mediums are the same size as the large :( idk what I'm doing wrong this is very frustrating
How much yarn is used to make a single pair of converse?
It’s all different colours. So…. Maybe 200 gr?
@@StephanieZed thank you so much for responding I figured because it was so long ago that I wouldn’t get a response I really appreciate you
salut merci pour le partage 🙋♀️👍🔔🌹🤝🙌
Thank you 😊
Do you have a pattern for the extra large sole?
Yes, all the sizes are available. The link is in the description and on my channel.

Yesterday I found slipper bottoms called Souls on TH-cam and I crocheted one it measures 7 in by 3 in for a child I cannot find the pattern back help! Please
I know what I needed to make my next soul was chain 18 that's all I remember
Do you want the crochet converse? Just look on my channel. 😃
There is a big difference when doing a under yarn over vs. Over. The gage will be totally different just saying
E o resto do sapato ❔
You said g size 4.5 hook.... g is 4.0.....?
Both of my G hooks from Boye say 4.25mm
My American mm standard G hook is a 4.25 by Boye. The other hook I have has no brand name nore a letter, only the 4.0mm. For me to get a 4.5mm hook, I found I have to order because none of the craft stores I go to sells the 4.5mm.
After following the whole tutorial it's still too small. What should I do?
Also I used a 4mm hook
You could try to double the yarn. Just for the sole. This will also give a thicker sole. And try a 5 mm hook. And remember, it will stretch. So a bit smaller than your foot is okay.

I need the extra large sole pattern.

Are you working only in the back stitch of the chain?
After your Ch 28, I work in the top of the chain, then I work down the other side of the chain.
@@StephanieZed so much easier than the way I learned to do it!! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!😊
Thank u so much 💓
How do I get a written pattern? Thanks.
Hi. I only have the pattern written above as you watch the video.
I've sat here all day watching and writing down the pattern.😛😛
well l'm on row 4 and have not made a mistake , wow l'm shocked
Lol. Nice. 🤣
There is a big difference when doing a under yarn over vs. Over. The gage will be totally different just saying
Yes. Yarn under is much tighter. 😃
I think you should clarify that you are doing a yarn under.
I have said it in a lot of comments and in videos I have put out after. I will put a note in the description. Thank you. That is why I like to get the tape measure out, just to show the size. 😃
@@StephanieZed I never really noticed that it mattered as much regarding size but does make sense!
Is there a written pattern
I just have the steps on the screen as you watch. Thanks
See above. I typed it out for those who want a written one. I did not put the other sizes on so you may want to write those down.
@@Val-ee4hd hiya where is the typed out pattern please?
@@rebeccawalton3610 It is in a post by me. Starts with Items you will need. Should be able to find it as It was a single post not a reply.
Can you still do this pattern with a 4.25 mm G hook? That's the only size hook I have. I'd have to specially order a 4.5mm hook because none of the craft stores I get my yarn or hooks have a 4.5mm.
Yes, you can😃
Yes, I used a 4.25 mm and it came out good.
Hello Stephanie, do you teach privately or online classes
No, sorry I don’t. Just TH-cam. If you have any direct questions you can contact me through Instagram.
@StephanieZedCreations
Excellent explanation, thanks 😊
Making large
❤
I thought I followed instructions completely, but ended up with an 11" sole, which is way too big for my needs. Ended up having to rip it all out. Not happy.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe try the small size. 😊
I had the same problem. Mine was too long and too narrow.
