Gosh that was a hand of God save there pal, the bike locking up the front end was your saving grace. The driver of the car deserves to loose his licence over this, he was still on the accelerator when he passed you, no attempt to brake whatsoever. A bike with more modern electronics may have kept you upright, but then that would not have ended so good and your injuries could have been fatal. The police need to see that footage and hold the driver to account. I also feel if there were two men Manning that road sweeper one should have been out on the roadside to prevent such an occurrence. Hope you get proper treatment and heal soon 🙏

You a very lucky boy GJ, glad you got out of it with relatively little damage. One positive, it was a British motor that just about done you in 😦 On a more serious note, in the 80s when I last rode a motorbike since coming back a few yeas ago, I drove to work on my bike for years with no specific biker gear apart from the helmet. It was BT waterproofs, BT gloves and safety work shoes and a few of my mates did the same. A few months ago I was chatting to a mate and we touched on this very subject and how back then we just wore our normal clothing. It your choice whether you wear safety gear so no judgement from me for sure.
Imagine the worse case, killed by a Rover or something 😂 Bleary I have no excuse with gear I know that. There is good summer protection out there and the wife will not allow me to run about with jeans now 😂thanks mate 👍🤠

Enjoy your 650. They're superb bikes. My "22 is leaving tomorrow for a 1050. If I had room, I'd for sure keep it. Probably goes through the twisties better anyway. They're hard to beat.

Oh f*@k mate. I think thats lucky you locked the front I think. I agree, your bike saved your head by the looks too. The angle of road rook your fall over line. The road position would be the one factor in the magic world of hindsight that had it been further right (ROSPA divide the road different for bends). So may have given a split second more view and kept you in your lane. But that is totally normal riding you've been doing. As for the car driver....🤬😡and STILL passed you not into field. I'm so glad you're ok ish... get those ribs checked again!! And sorry for jibbing about your stunt. Must be hard editing such a bad crash. In life I'd send a big hug here (all be it a gentle one). I obviously saw the truck and knew it might have traffic behind so I did actually ease off the throttle and cover the brake leaver but I thought "nah, no one would ever try to overtake there!" my opinion is that you dont think ahead much. If you see the obstacle in the bend you have to position yourself the way that you can see as much you can in this case you should be positioned on the right. Theres also overtaking vehicles can suddenly appear and you wasnt ready for it. Damage done think ahead and be prepared for these scenarios technically and mentally. Ride safe good luck

You are a lucky bastard man. How close was that car and truck to you? But, you still have the cajones to ride. I got hit a few years ago and went out after and bought a Z900. The guy at the dealership said you're a real rider. So are you. My dad was in an accident in'71 and didn't make it. My family thought I was nuts to keep riding. It's in your dna to love to ride.Something about it. I rode my '23 Harley Low Rider S 117 tonight just to make me feel better since my brother and only riding partner, John passed away 2 weeks ago. Really bummed out. Anyway, enjoy the biggest of the Stroms. I'm looking forward to it. BTW, AGATT. All gear all the time. I do now after busting my elbow. Even in brutally hot weather , I'm geared up. It's really worth having the armor.

G’day mate. I’m glad you’re ok. Kraken spoke about you in one of his videos. He also mentioned my mishap a month ago. A car had stopped at a STOP sign, but the driver hasn’t seen me and pulled out in front. Like you, by the grace of God I survived. I escaped with some skin off my hip and some nasty bruises. Nae lectures from here, I’m prone to wearing jeans and walking boots on a nice day too. Got a great pair of Kevlar threaded/armoured jeans if on a long trip on a good day. Wore them for 8 days straight on recent Euro trip. They were standing up themselves by the time I got home 😂😂😂 The kindness of strangers is humbling in these circumstances. You were so lucky your head wasn't run over.I had in the 1990's on a Kawasaki Widow maker & was going faster & skidded into opposite lane in front of truck 🚛.HE remembers surviving & looking up into headlights & head still in helmet & hitting bumper of truck & dragged up the road. You thought my story was bad dying 3 times HE died 7 & once was over for 2mins the legally dead limit & still holds the record.He lost 3 & ½ fingers one leg shorter than the other & the worst road rash scarring you've ever seen & he was never the same again & had 2thousand yard stare cause of Lack of oxygen to brain for so long multiple times.Glad it was on 25- 40 seconds each time for me HE couldn't ride again due loss of fingers & half of thumb.
The guy in the truck had to get a colleage to finish his job cause he was too shook up to continue. Yeah mate bikers die ever day in similar events to ths. i will never forget what I just learned. It can all be over in a heart beat.
I always wear all the gears even on short rides & it paid off.Get bike jeans with no kevlar lining they're heavy & get bloody hot in summer. Get jeans like Revzilla or Oxford AAA like I got no kevlar 13⁰z denim like normal jeans but have nylon & elastyne sewn into them making one material.I had AA Oxford on in my crash & worked but AAA are better.Definitely get them they're actually really good jeans I was thinking about getting a pair of AA to just wear as they're hard wearing & last alot longer than normal jeans.

Shit you were left with nowhere to go. glad you're OK. There's a roadside memorial near where I live with two helmets hanging on a cross. Both were killed on a perfectly straight open road. A newly qualified car driver scared by a spider was distracted, crossed the road & hit the bike head on.

yes it does have abs, I was shocked too at the speed of the drop. I can only assume the grip was lost through something on the road itself. I heard there was signs up on the car's side but I don't know 🤷♂ Yeah it looks as if he did not react at all 😮

The car driver was an older gentleman. Obviously got impaticiant and did sin 101 of driving, a blind bend overtake. He stopped but now I'm waiting on his French ins company sorting it out which is becoming a joke. Stay alert Vikki because I was mr " these kinda things don't happen to me" and they do/did.

This was sooo hard to watch. It is hard to play what if I… For me… I try to practice my hard breaking so that it is second nature. I used it on my deer strike (my first vid. Not sure if you saw that one. “I ride afraid”. ) So second advice because I ride off road I always tuck an roll. Don’t put my hands out. I am amazed you didn’t break your wrists. But again… that could have saved your life.!!!A tuck and roll could have let you roll into the car. My wrist broke on impact not from the fall. So again tucking and rolling skill did nothing 😂 I have been atgatt for about 20 years and after my accident… it is hard for me to not be atgatt. I still remember the heat from the slide. If you look at the ones I wear are not going to save my life, but hips and knees are padded. They are a one good for 5 to 40 mph accidents. Found them on ebay and better then jeans in my mind. I think what you learned is the most important. Started to rain today on my way home from my lawyers meeting and I slowed down by about 40 mph as I was trying to beat the rain. Decided to obey the speed limit and a little bit under the rest of the way. Knowledge! You got this one behind you. No real harm this time. 😅

Both because I got off after long days and forgot to put the side stand down. I am 99 percent motorcyclist. Own a lot of equipment.

I couldn't honestly say mate. I was slightly on them just before I saw the car but I just intinctually grabbed a bunch when I saw the car. There may have been a stone or something because it went down far too quickly.

I now ride only in aramid jeans because at my age putting one piece leathers on is painful, so I have bought expensive but very comfortable textile clothing. Hope I don’t get to test it out. You didn’t stand a chance. No way finding escape route in split second so slamming brake was only thing you could do. Better go slide then head on. I just saw your clip on moto stars and I thought it was very disturbing and confronting to watch as this can happen to any of us and there really is no good outcome in such a situation. Sure braking in a corner is dangerous and maybe evasive steering could have been better, but that can also result in a crash and try to weigh both possibilities in that 0,1sec time that you have. In the end you can't compensate for a car making such a dangerous mistake, overtaking on a continous line through a blind corner, unless you trade in your bike for a big lorry, then it's the car that has the problem 😆 But I have a feeling you won't ride with jeans on again (exept motorcycle jeans of course), of which I can only approve. I can't understand why some people drive with no protection at all except a helmet. Wearing T shirts, flipflops and whatnot....A full ventilated suit is the answer to that.
I agree with you mate although I simply didn't have the speed of logic to beat my gut reactions 🤣 I knew there was no way to avoid a collision so I did all I could ie grabbed as much brake as I could. Not consious, sub conscious 😅
That was more luck than choice mate I certainly wasn't thinking anything as I was falling except oh fk this is goona be a big hit either from the road or the car. I more or less walked away with a few scratches , I never banged my head either. the worse was the ribs really, they still hurt. But I'm back to work monday.
@@GermanJobbies as a PT, just be careful for a couple months! Yes! MONTHS!!!!. I don't think they would have done an MRI on you if you even went to the ER. Joints are things that can be damaged and not show till you then stress them just a little more. Take my injury, didn't show it self for a week. But doing my job , it could have been 4 months later. Never know. Strength training and good posture with lifting. Here is my one thing I will tell you. If something is falling, let it fall. Don't stop it!

Gosh that was a hand of God save there pal, the bike locking up the front end was your saving grace. The driver of the car deserves to loose his licence over this, he was still on the accelerator when he passed you, no attempt to brake whatsoever. A bike with more modern electronics may have kept you upright, but then that would not have ended so good and your injuries could have been fatal. The police need to see that footage and hold the driver to account. I also feel if there were two men Manning that road sweeper one should have been out on the roadside to prevent such an occurrence. Hope you get proper treatment and heal soon 🙏

You a very lucky boy GJ, glad you got out of it with relatively little damage. One positive, it was a British motor that just about done you in 😦 On a more serious note, in the 80s when I last rode a motorbike since coming back a few yeas ago, I drove to work on my bike for years with no specific biker gear apart from the helmet. It was BT waterproofs, BT gloves and safety work shoes and a few of my mates did the same. A few months ago I was chatting to a mate and we touched on this very subject and how back then we just wore our normal clothing. It your choice whether you wear safety gear so no judgement from me for sure.
Imagine the worse case, killed by a Rover or something 😂 Bleary I have no excuse with gear I know that. There is good summer protection out there and the wife will not allow me to run about with jeans now 😂thanks mate 👍🤠

The angle of road rook your fall over line. The road position would be the one factor in the magic world of hindsight that had it been further right (ROSPA divide the road different for bends). So may have given a split second more view and kept you in your lane. But that is totally normal riding you've been doing.
As for the car driver....🤬😡and STILL passed you not into field.

I obviously saw the truck and knew it might have traffic behind so I did actually ease off the throttle and cover the brake leaver but I thought "nah, no one would ever try to overtake there!" my opinion is that you dont think ahead much. If you see the obstacle in the bend you have to position yourself the way that you can see as much you can in this case you should be positioned on the right. Theres also overtaking vehicles can suddenly appear and you wasnt ready for it. Damage done think ahead and be prepared for these scenarios technically and mentally. Ride safe good luck

The guy at the dealership said you're a real rider. So are you. My dad was in an accident in'71 and didn't make it. My family thought I was nuts to keep riding. It's in your dna to love to ride.Something about it. I rode my '23 Harley Low Rider S 117 tonight just to make me feel better since my brother and only riding partner, John passed away 2 weeks ago. Really bummed out. Anyway, enjoy the biggest of the Stroms. I'm looking forward to it. BTW, AGATT. All gear all the time. I do now after busting my elbow. Even in brutally hot weather , I'm geared up. It's really worth having the armor.

A car had stopped at a STOP sign, but the driver hasn’t seen me and pulled out in front. Like you, by the grace of God I survived. I escaped with some skin off my hip and some nasty bruises. You thought my story was bad dying 3 times HE died 7 & once was over for 2mins the legally dead limit & still holds the record.He lost 3 & ½ fingers one leg shorter than the other & the worst road rash scarring you've ever seen & he was never the same again & had 2thousand yard stare cause of Lack of oxygen to brain for so long multiple times.Glad it was on 25- 40 seconds each time for me HE couldn't ride again due loss of fingers & half of thumb.
The guy in the truck had to get a colleage to finish his job cause he was too shook up to continue. Yeah mate bikers die ever day in similar events to ths. i will never forget what I just learned. It can all be over in a heart beat.
I always wear all the gears even on short rides & it paid off.Get bike jeans with no kevlar lining they're heavy & get bloody hot in summer.
Get jeans like Revzilla or Oxford AAA like I got no kevlar 13⁰z denim like normal jeans but have nylon & elastyne sewn into them making one material.I had AA Oxford on in my crash & worked but AAA are better.Definitely get them they're actually really good jeans I was thinking about getting a pair of AA to just wear as they're hard wearing & last alot longer than normal jeans.

Shit you were left with nowhere to go. glad you're OK. There's a roadside memorial near where I live with two helmets hanging on a cross. Both were killed on a perfectly straight open road. A newly qualified car driver scared by a spider was distracted, crossed the road & hit the bike head on.

The street sweeper should surely have had signs out further down the road warning of road works going on ahead? if not that was bad from their perspective. You are super lucky the jag didn't run over you. cos in the footage it doesn't look like it even slowed down or stopped
yes it does have abs, I was shocked too at the speed of the drop. I can only assume the grip was lost through something on the road itself. I heard there was signs up on the car's side but I don't know 🤷♂ Yeah it looks as if he did not react at all 😮

I miraculously had no broken bones or any real damage a part from some tender ribs and skin. God saved me and I mean that. The car driver was an older gentleman. Obviously got impaticiant and did sin 101 of driving, a blind bend overtake. He stopped but now I'm waiting on his French ins company sorting it out which is becoming a joke. Stay alert Vikki because I was mr " these kinda things don't happen to me" and they do/did.

So second advice because I ride off road I always tuck an roll. Don’t put my hands out.

If you look at the ones I wear are not going to save my life, but hips and knees are padded. They are a one good for 5 to 40 mph accidents. Found them on ebay and better then jeans in my mind. I think what you learned is the most important.
Started to rain today on my way home from my lawyers meeting and I slowed down by about 40 mph as I was trying to beat the rain. Decided to obey the speed limit and a little bit under the rest of the way. Knowledge! You got this one behind you. No real harm this time. 😅
Yes totally, I've already been looking at exactly those kind of jeans. I did learn a few things there yeah. The main thing I learned is I'm not immune to getting killed on a bike 😬🤠
@@GermanJobbies don't think you are destined to die on the bike. Limit your drinking ever when riding. You have been down, that's a rare thing. 23 years and only dropped the bike 2 times. Both because I got off after long days and forgot to put the side stand down. I am 99 percent motorcyclist. Own a lot of equipment.

I couldn't honestly say mate. I was slightly on them just before I saw the car but I just intinctually grabbed a bunch when I saw the car. There may have been a stone or something because it went down far too quickly.

Wrong side of the road and right next to a junction on a sharpish bend. Prison would be too good. Life could have been lost. You did right thing locking up and sliding out way. I now ride only in aramid jeans because at my age putting one piece leathers on is painful, so I have bought expensive but very comfortable textile clothing. Hope I don’t get to test it out. Hope you are recovering

You didn’t stand a chance. No way finding escape route in split second so slamming brake was only thing you could do. Better go slide then head on. If you had been driving a car you would probably RIP….. Always wear full gear, or do not ride. Get yourself armored jeans and better (higher) boots. I just saw your clip on moto stars and I thought it was very disturbing and confronting to watch as this can happen to any of us and there really is no good outcome in such a situation.
Sure braking in a corner is dangerous and maybe evasive steering could have been better, but that can also result in a crash and try to weigh both possibilities in that 0,1sec time that you have.
In the end you can't compensate for a car making such a dangerous mistake, overtaking on a continous line through a blind corner, unless you trade in your bike for a big lorry, then it's the car that has the problem 😆
But I have a feeling you won't ride with jeans on again (exept motorcycle jeans of course), of which I can only approve. I can't understand why some people drive with no protection at all except a helmet. Wearing T shirts, flipflops and whatnot....A full ventilated suit is the answer to that.
I agree with you mate although I simply didn't have the speed of logic to beat my gut reactions 🤣 I knew there was no way to avoid a collision so I did all I could ie grabbed as much brake as I could. Not consious, sub conscious 😅

That was more luck than choice mate I certainly wasn't thinking anything as I was falling except oh fk this is goona be a big hit either from the road or the car. I more or less walked away with a few scratches , I never banged my head either. the worse was the ribs really, they still hurt. But I'm back to work monday.
@@GermanJobbies as a PT, just be careful for a couple months! Yes! MONTHS!!!!. I don't think they would have done an MRI on you if you even went to the ER. Joints are things that can be damaged and not show till you then stress them just a little more. Take my injury, didn't show it self for a week. But doing my job , it could have been 4 months later. Never know. Strength training and good posture with lifting. Here is my one thing I will tell you. If something is falling, let it fall. Don't stop it!
@@BlakesPipes Without wanting to bore you..they did a full CT and dicovered some wear and tear in my 55 year old neck and at another point in my lower back but these were not accident things. I know I have to strengthen my back muscles generally. Thanks mate

I was just talking about it with my wife today and we agreed, it was one of those very close accidents that could have been game over or seriously life changing. Thank you sir and obviously I wish you all the best when you go riding too...we can be here one moment and just gone the next. I still can't understand why that guy made such a stupid fkn decision though! 🤬
