    What weight of curtain can the motor cope with? For example would lined & inter-lined full length (2.3m) heavy grade fabric work?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andreasevans hi, unfortunately there’s no information from ZemiSmart regarding the torque of the motor, so I can’t give you an answer. As it’s mains powered though, it should be able to deal with 2.m length curtains, but that also depends on how wide the curtains are too of course.

  • @RickyAngg

    Hi it’s me again, do you know how to make this curtain work to 1 direction only? Because after i assemble the curtain, it only work ini 2 direction?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Opening from just one side is possible, and I’ve been able to do it, but it took a lot of trial and error to get it to work. ZemiSmart would be in the best position to advise on this, as the set up procedure may have changed since I last tried it.

    Any idea if this motor would be compatible with track from a different manufacturer? This is almost perfect, but I am being held off by the ugly looking track joiners (buckles) and ceiling mounts. I do wonder if I could let go of this. The perfect one in this regard would be the Quoya QL600, but that one is Wi-Fi and not matter compatible.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s possible, but I think possibly unlikely. The motor and the way the track’s internal mechanisms work are quite specific in how they work together.

    Is it possible to have the motor on the right hand side rather than left?
    Also are there any adapters for curved / bay window tracks?

      You can place the track and motor either way. I don’t think they supply curved tracking for this, but you can check on their website - www.zemismart.com

    Hey, I want to get this curtain system and add it to my Apple Home. Do I need to get a HomePod mini/HomePod first or it could be any other device (bridge etc)?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, you would need a HomePod Mini/HomePod (2nd gen), or an Apple TV4K with Thread to get this into Apple Home. This is for two reasons; Apple Home needs a Matter Controller, which can be any of the Apple TVs or HomePods, but you also need one of these with a Thread Border Router (TBR) inside. If you have already got one of these, but without a TBR, you might be able to use another device with a TBR, like the latest Google Nest Hubs to act as a TBR but it’s a bit more complicated tbh, and I couldn’t explain it in this one reply.

    • @kirylbabrou
      @kirylbabrou หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@homekitnews Sweet, thanks. I got two more questions 1. Can it be adjusted to open to one side (left to right and back) 2. Could you tell me what is the width of the track please because I can't find it anywhere, that would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kirylbabrou the track width is 40mm, but this increases to 50mm for the plastic end sections. As regards opening from just one side, it is possible, and I’ve been able to do it, but it took a lot of trial and error to get it to work. ZemiSmart would be in the best position to advise on this, as the set up procedure may have changed since I last tried it.

    I got a couple of these and setup was simple though the first attempt resulted in a faulty gear box that takes like 30 seconds to change direction. I tried repairing it myself but the inner mechanics were too much for my pea brain and I probably just voided the warranty.
    After giving up on it I tried again with the 2nd box and it went perfectly. I’m really happy with it but just confused about how the 1st one went wrong.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try resetting and reinstalling the first motor? Sometimes that’s all it takes, although in the case of the slow reaction times, I’m not sure what that could be.

    • @AlexWeiner
      @AlexWeiner ปีที่แล้ว

      No the motor is fine and seems super solid. I’ve reseated it many times. The gear box it connects to is the problem.
      Inside the gear box you’ll find two spools to wind up the metal belt which are driven by the motor one at a time. The gear system responsible for switching between the spools seems not to work if the tension isn’t right. I tried re-tensioning the spools to no avail.

    • @AlexWeiner
      @AlexWeiner ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose I could ask the company to provide a repair guide but honestly I don’t really expect that level of support from a Chinese company.
      It does seem like a quality product though so I could be wrong.

    Can the track be cut to fit the length of the window?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could cut it, but you would need a decent tool to ensure the track isn’t bent or otherwise ruined in doing so. With the different sized pieces for the track it shouldn’t be necessary for most use cases.

    Hi, do you have any pictures or videos of how it gets installed on the wall with the wall brackets? Also i have ordered this matter over thread product but the max 0verload is 50kgs for the draperies but mine are very heavy draperies they weigh about 60 kgs and i see on their website that Tuya Zigbee ZM79-ZB has a max overload of 80 kgs for 240 inches. What do you suggest to do? its very expensive almost the product price to return the product.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't have a video showing this type of installation, but there should be many videos that show this type of installation. It does depend on the type of material you're drilling into as well.
      If your curtains are over the maximum weight limit for the motor, I suggest you cancel the order. The other model you mention should work, and as long as you have either of the company's HomeKit-compatible hubs, it'll be visible to your HomeKit setup (assuming you want to expose it to HomeKit).

    Thank you for the great video! I just purchased two of the HomeKit versions, without realising that this model with Matter is presumably newer and better. • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, glad you liked the video. Yes the HomeKit integration will essentially be the same. If you don’t mind using WiFi, then the Matter over Thread ones are not really any different. If you want to start moving towards a Matter smart home however, then I think it might be a good idea to get these instead.

    • @riccardo12158
      @riccardo12158 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@homekitnews I'm not sure I understood the part about using WiFi (sorry, I'm a bit of a noob). The reasons that would make prefer the Matter model are the manual mode (which is absent in the HomeKit version), and the fact that the product will be compatible from the get-go with HomeKit, Alexa and Google, should I ever change my mind (about using just the HomeKit architecture). Thanks!

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @riccardo12158 sorry, I assumed the older ones used WiFi, but I can’t be sure. The Matter over Thread is definitely more future proof, so as long as you have an Apple Home Hub, or a Matter controller of some sort for other platforms, you’re good to go.

    Great video. Quick question. It is possible to cut the extension tracks to any size with a saw?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess you could, although you’d have to make it a clean cut, but you shouldn’t need to - unless you wanted it to be less than 1 metre in width. With the curtain extension hooks you can have the track slightly shorter than required, and still have the curtain go further than the track.

    Does the curtains motor act as a Thread Router or just as an Endpoint?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a good question. even though it has a battery, it’s only for emergency use, so its natural state is powered, which should mean it’s a router device. Unfortunately I can’t say categorically whether that’s the case, as this info is only visible in the Eve for HomeKit app, but Matter over Thread devices dont give you the same level of detail as HomeKit over Thread devices do.
