    Wow, this video took ages to produce. Setting up these Matter devices in Home Assistant was quite a cumbersome task. But, I managed to set it up and show in this video how I managed to do that. What's your experience with setting up Matter devices in Home Assistant?

      I don't have Matter devices yet, but expect to add some within a year.

    Will there be a separate review for the curtain? I’d like to know how silent/noisy it gets during operation

    • @SmartHomeJunkie
      @SmartHomeJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I will not create a separate review. I think it’s not very noisy, but that might be personal preference.

    Hey Ed, cool video! Did i Miss how you set up the skyconnect with matter/tread? I got the skyconnect and it is Zigbee only, what instruction did you follow?

    That curtain track looks sick. Does it work without thread over that rj-45 Port? Instant buy for me than. Igot the switchbot curtians they fail so bad on my heavy curtains.

    Love your videos, extremely accessible and informative. Just wondering if you can help with a question from a novice who is learning about home assistant. Is it possible to connect such devices straight to home assistant without using a (bridge?) Home kit or Google device et cetera?

    • @SmartHomeJunkie
      @SmartHomeJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, only the curtain rail needed a HomeKit border router. The other device didn’t need that.

    Skyconnect should be irrelevant since these bulbs are WiFi, not Thread. I experimented a bit with Philips Wiz bulbs which update to Matter, but you need to add them to Wiz app first and then enter Matter pairing mode via app... and they always have to stay in app after. Maybe this is just because they are upgraded to Matter, and future products designed for Matter like these Zenismart will not have issue. Anyways, can you do settings like power restore state, transition time (how long takes light to dim up/down) ? You can tell easily by making a script/automation and calling service to turn on then a Transition option will appear. The Wiz bulbs I have do not show these in Matter, and have to use their app.

    • @SmartHomeJunkie
      @SmartHomeJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว

      These bulbs are Matter for sure and I paired it with the SkyConnect.

    • @RamonEgberts
      @RamonEgberts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They work with Matter over WiFi. So shouldn't they work with Matter integration/add-on on HA without SkyConnect? Sky Connect provides zigbee (ZHA) and will provide Thread in the future, right? The latter will make Matter over Thread posible in HA without another Thread border router. That's how I understood this. Am I wrong?

    • @bsem68
      @bsem68 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmartHomeJunkie Those bulbs you link to show specs "- WiFi Matter Control: ", unless you used a different version... however the bulbs would probably have a thread logo on them which I don't see in your video, just the matter logo. Shut your wifi off and see if you can still control as an experiment ;)

    How is the sound of the curtains and roller shades? Some van be a bit loud which makes waking up with a bit of sunshine more like waking up next to a runway.

    The downlights are not very good. Way to much broad light. It is much more practical to have a narrow light beam in most circumstances

    The Matter scenario is dead. No updates
    Limited support or no products.
    It promised integration with "everything" but that is not the reality.
