    Best 24 minutes spent to try to understand draw on Sketch up!! I have spent hours before trying to figure out but I haven’t been successful! I will definitely do my pantry drawing next! Thank you!

    This is a great tutorial! Btw, when you're moving objects, if you select an edge or corner instead of the face of the object, it will automatically snap to the edge of another object, making precise movements much easier. Happy designing!

    That was absolutely the best sketch up tutorial I have ever seen, and I have watched several. I think it was the slower pace. Gave me time to digest each step. Love the part at the end about trips to the hardware store. I actually plan on three trips on any new project and time line twice as long.

    Small tip: when you want to move a component more precisly like exactly in the corner of the room, with the moving option, just take your piece by the corner you want to align, go directly to the corner of the room ans drop your component in place . It will set perfectly 👌

      17:15 A cool trick I learned to move and align objects easily is to click on the corner of the first element with the move tool and then, right after, click on the corner of the second object you want to align with. So in this case, you would select the move tool, left-click on a front corner of the cabinet and then left-click on the same front corner of that base element.
      Both elements will be aligned and flushed! It also works if you need a second wall to be the same height as a previous wall, instead of typing the number, you can use the Push/Pull tool and click on the top edge of the first wall.
      Sorry for the long text!

    Been awhile since I've used SketchUp. once your know it enough to use it....it really makes projects come out better, imo. Thanks for the refresher course. Also, I'm guessing your measurements were off due to the thickness of the walls you used in our sketchUp?? The length of the first wall created was reduced (on both sides) by the thickness of the second two walls you added....which in reality would give you a different length of your countertop/shelves in real life than your sketchUp drawing showed?

  • @bunkerbunny5
    @bunkerbunny5 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Doesn't placing a wall on top of one you measured out make the wall surface space smaller by 4", or 8"?
    Because it's not the back of the wall you measured it is the inside visible surface of the wall you took a measurement of. When you then use the inside of the wall as your access you lose the width of the wall you placed on top of it.

  • @GerardUmbert
    @GerardUmbert 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    you can use the move tool and select a corner or middle point, that will allow you to click then into another surface, line or corner to set things properly aligned. I see you struggle a lot with that.

  • @GerardUmbert
    @GerardUmbert 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    And yet another Tip: you created the shelves and copied twice, while also having to measure the separation between each. That could be done with that is called an array. SketchUp has nice tutorials on how to use that, but basically, you should be able to copy, paste, and type in the number of copies, the distance between them, and the direction where to place them. Which would make creating those shelves (and more complex stuff in which you might struggle in the future) way faster.
    Here's an old tutorial: th-cam.com/video/I7jE2XpCnkg/w-d-xo.html
