- Bachman & Turner - Let It Ride (Live At The Roseland Ballroom NYC)
Randy Bachman and C.F. "Fred" Turner were the core members of Bachman-Turner Overdrive throughout their commercial heyday in the 70s. smarturl.it/BnTrosebowlcddvdblu Between them they also composed the vast majority of the band's many hit singles.
Reuniting at the end of 2009 they released an eponymous album in 2010 and in November of that year they performed at the famous Roseland Ballroom in New York City as part of their North American tour. This video was filmed at the show.

No computer enhanced background tracks, no auto tune! Just rock and roll at its finest! Guys that can actually play and sing!
You're damn right, mister. Like for your comment! 👏👏
Fred please come back with Randy in 2024 for your fans!
Couple of old geezers showing this new generation what real music sounds like. Way to go Fred and Randy. You still sound better than anything I hear today.
Easily!!!
Not sure the word geezers is very respectful, but they still got it for sure!
@@lolozow3533 Depends on who's using it. I'm a 70 year old geezer and I have plenty of respect for them.
@@Rikki0 OK - you get a pass haha. Would still love to see them in concert after watching this. I'm 56. 😁
Legends
Nothing better than watching grey-haired rockers whose song was popular 40+ years ago still rock it out. Flawless performance.
Fred is Pounding that Bass like it owes him Money!
Randy Bachman Ladies and gentlemen! One of the most underrated guitarists of all time! Fred Turner ladies and gentlemen! The most gravelley voice I have ever heard! True Canadian icons!
Thats true best Rock ever🎤🎸
💯
Amen
my all time fave rock n roll band...July 2023
Solid!!!
I am 19 and I am glad I was raised on this music
You had neat parents, probably stoners 😂
No autotune or any technological bs. Just raw talent. Awesome performance!
Right on! It s called the thing baby
Lordy, Fred Turner still has one of the finest voices in music. And his bass playing...jeez!
🔥🔥🔥
Exactly
Kids this is called ROCK n ROLL
Yeah, he's great! The only thing I'm missing is his old Rickenbacker. This one sounds adequate though.
Dude can fuckin' SANG!
I'm 72 years old and I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!
62 here 🍻🍻🍻
Fred Turner is a beast
Yep, he is. Much love
They had their share of crazy party's still going like this? Talent and love for rock and roll and love for their fans
What blows my mind is that that's the voice of large, barrel-chested man, which he was in the day when they recorded these tunes. But here he is in this concert, 40 years later and probably 40 pounds lighter (and healthier), yet still able to belt like a burly young buck. Beast, indeed!
Such a voice. Powerful, pitch perfect, and so musical. Among the very best of all time. For sure the least lauded of the best of all time.
And I know of NO singer who has lasted for so many decades with their voice seemingly intact - possibly BETTER than before.
Randy's playing is legendary and Fred's vocals and bass playing is absolutely great!! Live on guys!!!!!!!
Agree
I always played 6 string but I bought a bass because of Fred Turner makes it fun when me and my kid play together and we switch guitars
Fred still has the most amazing raw rock and roll voice. Wow.
Rob halford on four wheels !!!!!
James Dewar with Robin Trower had a raw voice
yes he did she had a great raw voice also
Man, Turner hasn't lost ANYTHING on his voice.......fantastic.
These two would absolutely OWN today's music scene if they were born 40 years later.
Today's wannabes will never touch the
majesty of 70's rock and these guys are just one example.
Randy and Fred, two heavy weights in a class of their own.
It’s meant to be 70s time capsule is precious ❤
When they opened up they'd blow everyone else off the stage. When the others heard Randy and Fred they would have realized that perhaps they need to get into another line of work.
You're damned right! I remember when this album released... Wow!
Yeah, it's fantastic song writing. I just learned the intro watching Randy's hands. Pure c-l-a-s-s.
A couple of old dinasours still kicking ass! Damn that Turner's still got it! This is how it's done kids.
For sure
Fred Turner is perhaps THE most underrated bassist of the 1970s. His singing is a bonus.
His voice stayed strong af
Right here (in 2010) is arguably the best live bass line in rock history
I love when it kicks in at 0:10
I love C.F. Turner's vocals and bass playing.
I totally agree!
A couple of 70 year old lumberjacks who would blow a lot of modern bands of stage. Fuckin brilliant.
Appreciate your praise of thier music, but a friendly correction is in order: Neither one (let alone both) is a lumberjack. Don't know where you got that idea, but both are* professional and self-supporting musicians without the need for work outside the industry (not that there's any shame in being a lumberjack).
*Turner is actually now retired.
It is fk brilliant
We know there not lumberjacks what do you think we're morans
L
What kind of comment is that really ben
Man still has a powerful voice!! This song takes me back to great times
Oh yea!!
me too
Sometimes music is even better live.
Me too
And returns them right "Bach"man. Full circle RIP Randy via Turner (vocals) metaltomotown
Wow, did not expect him to get it up for the scream at the end! And while walking the bass all over place. Well done 👏
Kind of like when you see zMichael Anthony from Van Halen. He can still hit those notes you think he shouldn't
Had enough years to perfect it :)
@@Azznbad - He WAS Van Halen, lol. He is what gave them their groove, everyone else was filler!!
I’m 61 an these are still my favorite songs…. Have to feel sorry for the kids these days and what they have.
you're not alone......this one is great
2:38 when Fred is just staring at Randy with a big smile as he fires of classic lead is priceless.
great moment...not lost on me either.
Still has that 'growl" in his voice some 50yrs later... these guys are from my youth and still rockin' and are still good..... something today's so called musicians won't be doing next week. Keep rockin BTO!!!!!
Almost 39 years ago, on Saturday, April 12th, 1975 I went on a date with a young lady & went to a concert featuring "BTO" at the Tulsa, Oklahoma Fairgrounds Pavilion. 364 Days later on April 10th, 1976 (1976 was a leap year) I married that young lady. This coming Thursday my wife & the love of my life, Kathy, & I will celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. It has been an "E" ticket ride so far & hope it continues for many more years to come!
Good going!!
That's a great story! Congratulations and enjoy the ride 'cause, "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet!"
Congratulations 🎉❣️👏 hoping your both still "Happy Together 😍😍 😍😍 😍
Congratulations🎉🎊 I've seen a lot of great shows there 👍
what a cool story!! I was in elementary school when this song came out... I bought the 45 from my paper route money...
Still a killer song, and Fred Turner -- wow, awesome power in that voice!
Yeah,he's great!!!!
scott sileo it’s amazing he still has that power and control still, then again he looks great and he moves like a much younger man.
Still the caveman!
Killer vocals there absolutely spot on!!
I knew he was talented and all but his voice totally blows me away. Interesting how unbelievably talented some of the musicians from the 70s (and other decades) were with little fanfare or marketing. The Doobie Brothers just did a from-home Covid 19 era version of Black Water a couple weeks ago, and like Fred Turner, the purity of their voices is amazing. It could easily have been done 40 + years ago. Woo hoo for Fred and Randy, both awesome dudes still rockin'.
Fred is one of the friendliest rock stars ever.
Gravel Truck still got those vocals. BTO in Hall of Fame. Come on!!!!
Hall of shame
I'm 61...and for some reason watching this made my eyes well up.I guess it's because these guys were such a huge part of my teenage years.Runnin with my buddies, chasing girls, burnin joints and rocking with these guys was the daily. They are absolute legends.😤👍
Awsome man catching a good buzz and hearing them FM came out. Looking from one speaker to the other
What a fantastic memory.
@@allancerf9038Memories are all that I have ... 😮
We did grascid. They were not days of wine and roses.
Holy Smokes, that was great, that old man sang his ass off, excellent!!!
Fred blows away 95% of any eras best singers, for hard rock. I consider him a top 5 of all time in rock vocals. Incredible talent. May he get proper recognition in his own time.
97%
Hard to believe three of the most distinctive voices of the 60's/early 70's came from Winnipeg. While each is very different (Cummings, Turner, Young) - they are also iconic for that great era of music.
@Gojo61 I
@@davidcarter2720 That fact is really amazing indeed. And that they all knew each other, along with Bob Dylan, while growing up... one would almost suspect higher powers were involved.
Agreed - I like how Randy describes Fred's voice as a "gravel truck"... that's a perfect analogy, Ha ha... and still after all these years Fred still reaches the high's of his original vocal recordings decades ago - the man is a true dynamo !!!
Was waiting to see if he could still do one of the greatest screams in rock n roll history. Yep, he nailed it!
Sorry, but Roger Waters does the best scream in rock and roll
Roger Daltrey Won't get fooled again nuff said
Yeah... but old Rog lost his high register a while ago. As did another decent rock n roll screamer, Sir Paul McCartney... 🧐🙄
Rob Halford on four wheels !!!
He sure did
I'm speechless after nearly 40 years they were still this great. Glad I grew up in an era when musical art was uncompromising and great.
Yep...we were very lucky ! 🎼👍🎸
Was a great song to begin with. They didnt change it so why would/should it change!?
Didn't expect their singing to be so good in these later years.Wow!
Fred Turner's voice is irreplaceable. You'll never find another human who could sing with that style. Cool.
I can't believe Fred still has a voicebox left after all these years,Superb performance!
When the chorus joins in with the rhythm guitar for the songs signature sound ... I get chills nearly every time. One of the great "chorus hooks" in all of rock. ... well, at least one of my very favorite ones.
I was not expecting these vocals. Amazing
I really miss Fred! This is a perfect example of Rock & Roll. If people wrote, played and listened to more there wouldn't be so much violence in the world.
Love Fred Turner his voice is the same as it was in 1973!
johnnykov I would say its better fantastic performance here I had the pleasure of seeing them open for VanHalen in 1986 in Montreal they kicked ass and the place was on fire for their set.
johnnykov Just had Randy and Fred play at the opening of True North Square in Winnipeg and they were awesome. They have not lost a thing at 75
These guys would bury any modern pop band of today live on stage.
Yes! Did you see the concert where Lenny Kravitz was playing The Guess Who’s “American Woman” then The Guess Who joined Lenny on stage - Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings showed how it’s really done, making Kravitz’ rendition sound like the elevator-music version …
This is the true definition of the the 70s
They would be mopping the stage with the second rate acts out there today.
Wow pleasantly surprised Fred could still belt this one out. The grit and power of the vocal really makes the song.
Fred and Randy are still amazing. Fred still sounds great in his 70's.
Fred Turner is simply badass!
Everyone knows Randy is amazing, but man Fred is a wicked bass player too!...plus the voice!!
Between this band and the guess who, Randy Bachman has scored an impressive portfolio of music in his lifetime. Turner is great here also!
Rest In Peace, Robbie Bachman.
Turner can still belt them out.
Damn, dude still had his voice even in 2010, very impressive.
That video is proof that they still have it all together. Back in the day when this music came out on the radio, before ZZ top, all of us high School gearheads enjoyed BTO, I especially, but then again I liked Peter Frampton, and Jethro Tull. Seriously, it sounds even better than it did 45 years ago.
that frigging bass line makes the song
And Turner's vocals.
AS I SAID BEFORE ........FUCKING A FRED FOR PRESIDENT. I READ THE LIST OF ROLLING STONE LIST OF GREATEST BASS GUITARISTS AND FRED IS NOT ON IT. THE BASTARDS
threalis Maradona right
You bet your ass , 1 of the best bass lines ever
And the tone he gets here... phat, resonant... eff yeah!
BTO was one of my early favorites as a teenager growing up in the mid-late 70's. My friends and I would play the hell out of their Not Fragile album on the console stereo in my parent's basement.
You can tell they played this song a million times. Mastery
KILLER solo from Randy, and Fred sounds fierce!
BTO where the hell are bands like this anymore
gotta love pop music back in the day of real musicianship. Most kids today are too lazy to learn an instrument, and it would be so much easier today with the Internet. Their into themselves and visuals, sitting, walking, riding around texting staring at their smartphone, into talkers not singers, and when they do listen to singers, it's hick singers that sing through their nose, out their butt about pick up trucks and stupid stuff, they could care less about guitar solo's or quality structured music with great poetry.
I can answer that They don't exist!!!
Not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame . .
theonemodifier lies I am starting to play the guitar.
IDK but if you find them let me know😍😁 Love these guys🤩🤩🤩
No autotune - no enhancements - those were the days when you heard a band on vinyl that's what you heard live - absolutely LOVE it.
I love Randy's solo on this. One of his best ever.
I seen B.T.O. in 1986 in New Jersey. What a great rock band and I don't know what was louder Fred Turner's voice or their instruments..Just pure rock - n - roll talent !!!!! 😎
Proud canadian band happy you saw them
Fred Turner’s voice is incredible. Such killer guitar riffs on this one too
Randy was the lightning
and Fred brought the
Thunder ❗❗
Nice way of putting it, and so true!
Wow! BTO hasn't missed a beat! Sounds as fresh as it did when the song first came out.
Randy's guitar playing is still phenomenal and Fred's voice truly amazing while carrying that killer bass line all the while.......Come back to Chicago,I'd love too see you live
randy bachman sucks
Seen twice in Chicago best song blue collar
One of my favorite songs in my hippie years. Would turn up the radio in my car and sing along with Bachman and Turner and I'd Let It Ride. COME ON LET"S ROCK!!!!!
Fred is making that bass earn it's living !!
One of the best screams ever recorded.
Randy Bachman, at the core of 2 of the most underrated rock bands in history! Which IMHO are in the top 10 greatest!
I can't give this performance enough thumbs up. Their timing is still on point, the playing is still sharp af, and when Fred hits that note at 3:40..🎶😆..I melt. 😱
He nailed the scream!
Wow watching Randy and Fred still tearing it up is so awesome! I saw them in the '70's,but I like this one much better! Fred's vocals and bass playing, and Randy's guitar work and vocals are still better than most of todays artists!
I heard this song in 78, I was 9 years old. Since that day is all classic rock for me.
That's an oddly inspirational chorus!
"And would you cry, if I told you that I lied. And would you say goodbye, or would you let it ride?"
I had this album when I was in the army back in 1976. I love seeing these old guys from the old bands still playing. Groups like Jethro Tull and guys like Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler never get old.
Man, Fred Turner can still belt it out for an old dude.
I can't believe the old man is still hitting all the same notes !! Friggin awesome !! I want to learn to play guitar and sing now..
Wow! Fred Turner's voice is exactly the same as it was in the old days, maybe even better. We saw BTO in the late 90's at Viejas Casino, San Diego and they played the first show for an audience of 18 people. The second show was sold out!!! You guys still rock!!!
strange a lot singers voices seem to get weaker,,likes of ac-dc,and others, but this singer still brings out the magic of his voice
No joke! Fred's still got it! Amazing!
Still belting it out and I think his playing is better than ever!
I must be hearing an alternate track. I can hardly stand it.
Yeah I seen them the summer of 1990 and even then they were considered an older band. One of the best shows I've ever seen, they opened with this song, CF Turners voice was awesome.
Mr. Turner is rocking that Carvin bass....what a great, raw voice he has here
Man, can Turner sing!!
BTO,my favorite tune by them and have to really crank this up to full blast...
Like time has no sway on THEM! Love it !
a good old fashioned rock song, not over produced yet has the right edge and has the right harmony, the kids of the now, THIS IS HOW IT"S DONE!!!!!
Loved this tune when it came out.....gettin' chills.
Pure magic! It just brings me back.
What an unforgettable power ballad with all the intensity and tension of a true rock anthem. Rock on boys!
How can you NOT love this whole album!! I bought it when it came out and I still have it. LOL
They still got it! Great performance!
I was a kid in 70's & 80's and sure miss REAL rock and roll like this. BTO opened up for Van Halen at a fairly small county convention center, and to date, was the LOUDEST show I have ever attended and I have seen a ton! Robbie broke his snare head and with the exception of one roadie handing him a new head, He changed it on the fly during the live show! TRUE showmen! One of the GOAT!
The first time I heard this on the radio I ran out and bought it. Still sounds good after all those years.
How can you not appreciate this? No matter what genre of music you like, just the fact these guys are up there having fun and kicking ass.
Amazing performance !
you can't fool me - these guys have done this before.
Hahaha awesome comment!
🤣
Fantastic rocker from their second album released in 1973 !!! Great concert !!!
What a voice. And one of the best screams in rock history - melodic and raucous at the same time.
The bassist, Mr Turner, makes Chuck Norris applaud with glee.
Made chuck cry you mean !
Excellent performance! It shows older people can still jam the EF out!
Gosh I just love Bachman's guitar sound. Wicked solo.
Caught this concert on tv the other day, Randy & Fred just kicked ass, sound better than ever.
Randy and Fred kicking it into Overdrive and still Letting It Ride!!
Sounds just as good as the record !!! 👍
Holy smokes, listening to this was like stepping into a time machine.
No doubt...... two great rockers/musicians. There are no equals to their style/music, amazing!
These two gentlemen are legends, their true talent can only be measured by how phenomenal they are live!
I remember when this song came out when I was in high school - what a powerful debut for a band at that time!
