Making a sample based hip hop beat on Maschine+

  • A short talk about my first experiences of the M1 Mac mini and the changes I've made to my home studio. Then: A cut down version of the live stream I did here on the channel yesterday. I made a sample based boom bap beat on Maschine+ and added some scratching. I think it came out pretty cool for a 2,5h chill session.
    More to come - Making videos just became fun again!
    Thanks for the support!

    It’s so great to see you’ve been doing great after the surgery last year. I don’t really watch your content anymore since I haven’t worked on music in over a year or so.. due to some mental health issues. Your recovery is great motivation for my progress and growth. Hope you keep the momentum for years and years to come!

    Could we have a tutorial on how to scratch on beats? I’ve been trying to do it for a while and it doesn’t sound right. You are amazing at it so i feel that would help!

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well thank you! I get that question pretty regularly but sometimes I think it’s better to leave stuff to the actual masters. I suck at scratching compared to “real” scratch DJ’s and I’m afraid that I’m not the right teacher for that...
      There are a bunch of tutorials online already. Just be patient and take small steps and I’m sure you’ll beat me in a scratch battle within 6 months :)
      Thanks for watching!

    Hey what's up accurate, have you thought of adding an ultra pitch turntable to your studio? I think it'd be a great addition since it'll allow you to match any sample to whatever bpm you need. Anyways, keep up the good work!

    Digging that M1 Mac Mini. I’m waiting for the time being as none of the software and plugins I wish to use are M1 native compatible. Sure, many would run under Rosetta 2 compatibility but that’s not what I’m looking for, for now.

    Subbed. Love the video - I haven’t seen anyone use a compressor to side chain sample chops, can you explain that for me? Sounds like it helped smooth everything out.

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      Yeah, compressing and sidechaining samples is a pretty big thing on the lo-fi scene. It helps to give the drums and the sample a bit more space in the mix and adds a bit of bounce /m:)

  • @IanHeathdesigns

    Whenever I face a creator's block, I check out your videos for inspiration. On another note, I also bought an M1 Mac but I haven't been able to get my MPC One to work as a controller. Have you had the same issue?

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I’m happy to hear that :)
      I actually haven’t got around to installing the mpc software yet. I almost exclusively use my mpcs in standalone but I still want the option to use the software. I’ve read somewhere that BigSur isn’t yet fully compatible with the mpc software but I might be wrong.
      I’ll touch on a bunch of different softwares in a future video on the m1 though :)

    I need help with mk3 pls, i have my own drum libraries and i want to assign them to the pads. i can only assign one sound to one pad on the bottom left if i want to add a snare to the next how do i do that? thanks in advance

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should just be to drag the sample to the corresponding track (sound) in the software... if you drag the sample to the group, it only end up on the first pad .. drag it to the second slot on the right column. Should do the trick

    • @GRABNO1325
      @GRABNO1325 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AccurateBeats wow thanks for the fast answer man, its not possible to do in the hardware?

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Importing files? Sure it is!
      Just select the pad (by tapping it on the sound-level). Make sure that it’s lit up, go to the browser, pick a “sound” or a one-shot and load it up.
      Would end up on the selected pad.
