Tried this, tested only one skewer, with the time u recommended it was swimming for the ocean in my mouth. Tried doubling the time for the rest and they were good taste wise, but rubber consistency. Not sure what I'm doing wrong..
Hey @roborovsky6950, it could be a number of factors, type of fuel used, thickness of your calamari / squid, type of BBQ used, were yours frozen and then thawed, and also the weather.
@@SchueysBBQ Well, I'm mainly grilling over charcoal. Also they might have been frozen and then thawed by the shop, even if they were on ice, I'm pretty sure they weren't fresh. Also, how can weather be a factor in this?
That looks good mate I think I will get out the squid jigs and go for a walk down the road. Have you done Barra or even a mud crab on the Weber or smoker ? Cheers
Crabs on the Chew by memory 24 or 26 C and above , we did a sambal with fettuccini in mid 90s on ice first so they don't throw the claws. The real Barra too . We are looking forward to the video . Cheers
Hey shuey, thanks for this recipe! You read my mind. I am wanting to bbq some squid on the bbq for xmas and was looking for recipes. Quick question. Can I marinade these for longer. Say night before or the morning of just so I can be organised and not stuffing around on Xmas day. So glad you are back making vids xx
Murray Oreton, if on your phone, click on the heading just under the video, this will open up the description, you will more than likely need to expand it at the bottom where the text reads "more". If on a laptop or PC, directly under the video is the description and you will need to click on the text that reads "show more" to expand it. For now, here is the recipe though Main Ingredients: 1kg (2.2lbs) squid hoods (cleaned) Marinade Ingredients: 4 cloves of garlic (crushed) 1 teaspoon of chilli flakes ¼ cup of lemon juice 1 tablespoon of lemon zest 1 tablespoon of brown sugar 2 teaspoons of sweet paprika 1 teaspoon of kosher salt ½ teaspoon of black pepper (fine) ⅓ cup of avocado oil Garnish Ingredients: Lemon wedges (to squeeze over once cooked) 🍻
