Thank you Terry!I waisted energy and time and you have simplified this very simply in your video. You also expressed compassion and clear communication. Thank you for your example.
I just want to say thank you serve this was a great amount of knowledge that really helped me understand as an employee that was actually on probation for three months at my place of establishment and they did not fire me but they let me go but I didn't really get lucky actual explanation of why I was let go but at the same time I kind of felt like I'm kind of glad the job did let me go because it was messing up my sleep cycle so I didn't even though there is bad on one side maybe some good on the other side came out but I always wondered like why was I just let go and you know I wasn't even given an explanation so I felt like this video really help me understand how the idea of being on probation at a place you work at works
Hi I’m in a predicament whereby I have joined a new company and worked very hard however they extended my probabtion by 3 months due to ‘quality and performance’ . However I was one of only a few who were ‘multi skilled’ so when I had my first month in this other sector I was obviously not going to be an expert. Now my work colleague who was also multiskilled with me he was under another manager , he had many absences , fails in quality and performance not great as well but his manager passed him. When I bought This up to my manager she said ‘I don’t know what other managers do but I did what’s right ‘ she keeps telling me not to worry but I don’t trust her because she screwed me over for no reason. What can I do? Is it worth doing a grievance or complaint to HR? Or should I just try to pass this period? She said I shouldn’t worry but u know any little slip up and they can dismiss me. Please help
what happens when they say you didnt pass your probation on the 3 month review and promise the 6 month review BUT the 6 month review doesnt happen as the employer has forgotten and the employee continues to work as normal?
Unreported case, complaint was made that an Employee was let go after 11 months, under normal circumstances not alot a person can Do, however this person was afforded a full months notice which gave her just over 12 months, client was awarded €8,000 Euros for UD, the person didn't know what they where actually when they let the employer go, by giving a months notice, this can be a tricky and costly area if not handled correctly, another unreported case seen an employee get the last 3 months of the probation period paid out, due to the bad wording contained in the probation clause. Thanks Terry for shareing.
The contract should have made provision for 1 week's notice during the probation period, this would have prevented the employment enduring past the 12 months by reason of the longer notice period.
Unfortunately I was told that my probation got extended but I wasn't given any solid reason as to why. Feedback in general has been positive from everyone but the manager says she feels I'm "Nervous" which I find hard to understand because I'm not.
It is probably outside the terms of the contract but I do not see what remedy you would have apart from suing for breach of contract, which would be difficult.
I started working on 8 February and today my manager sent me an email saying your employment is subject to 90 days probation and your employment is terminated with the company and you are no longer part of it. What i can expect to do?
It is my understanding that probation is like a Jigsaw trap. I don't know if you're familiar with the Saw films, but failing probation resulting in getting fired is comparable to failing to escape from a Jigsaw trap resulting in death.
So i work in this company where they hired me and now the site is done and they are waiting for the contract renewal but until then they dont offer me any hours and even they are not sure the contract will be renewed. My question is Isn't as per contract company is entitled to provide me at-least 20 hours by weekly until my probation ends ?
What should i do if I’m on month 2 of my 3-6 month probationary period but my teammmate is make racially discriminatory comments about our manager? I have the proof via texts
Dude, I came from a very tolerant IT company to a smaller one with higher pay, but turned out every second person there is racist, antisemitic and simply impolite and gossiping. It is like going through the mine field cause at any point someone can start talking smack about you

What do you think happens 🤔
@ is this where the employee is supposed to guess and assume?
I needed this, thankyou

@@terrygorry Fully agree, it pays to get sound legal advice.

How did your probation end up going?
@@Kntr111 Well it's extended for another 3 months so I'm still waiting to hear which could be till December 🤷♂️
@@caramelbiscoff5075 any updates?
@@EddyBlackz Yeh didn't pass my probation over some petty excuses so I decided to quit with immediate affect.
@@caramelbiscoff5075 if extended after that should be pass probation right. I have been extended once and after that I pass.
Terry is awesome!
Is it legal to extend someone’s probation when it’s not mentioned to do so in the employees contract?

1Watch the video again,
2 go to Citizen's Information,
3 go to a solicitor,
4 do nothing
5 get another job
6 any or all of the above
Take your pick
Terry Gorry Solicitor great advice 👌🏾

No, know nothing about Saw films. Know a little about the nuances of probation in the workplace

That's a judgment call for you to make 👍
