Hello, my SlingStudio HDMI-in video source will not display the lyrics overlay. I can edit the chroma key and all that, but it will not display the lyrics. Could you please help me? Thank you.
How do I search for the SS OUTPUT in pro presenter? I have all my screens along with pro presenter running through a 4 way hdmi splitter. Is that where my issue is?
Yes. As far as ProPresenter 7 is concerned, it's one screen because the splitter just duplicates what it gets. So, if you need to have something different sent to the SlingStudio, you'll need to have it connected to its own video output that the computer sees as distinct.
@@PaulClifford thank you for your response! So I need to have sling studio on its own output from my Mac to achieve the lower thirds through pro presenter?
Ok I have a question. So if both of my usb-c ports are tied up with my audience monitor and then my rear stage monitor... do I go usb to hdmi? Will that even work for a 3rd screen output?? Also... will multiple cameras affect the text overlay as it changes to different cameras? Trying to figure out how this will work. Thanks so much.
USB to hdmi would work fine. I might use it for the stage display since it's a little less capable than the main outputs. You could also (with Pro7) do a tbt-3 to dual HDMI adapter on one tbt-3 port and that will get the two system displays, but then use a BlackMagic Mini monitor for another SDI display. As for switching cameras, I don't remember. I don't use my SlingStudio very often anymore.
Our Mac can only handle 2 total displays, so we have to use a splitter to display to projector, tv monitor, and sling studio. The splitter is projector and sling (obviously displaying the same thing) and the second display is the tv monitor. ProPres 7 isn't picking up sling as a display because it's not directly connected to the Mac. But switching the direct input would mean we couldn't use stage display for the tv monitor. Do you see a way around this? We opted for this Mac over the Pro with more displays version without thinking about the capabilities of PP7 (currently using PP6). Are we just SOL (for lack of a better phrase)?
I've got good news. If you just wanna add one more monitor, you could either use a USB display (like this one from Amazon: tdm.fyi/usbvideo) or a BlackMagic devices mini monitor (or the new ultrastudio 3g monitor). The Blackmagic devices aren't monitors, but thunderbolt (2 in the case of the mini monitor) interfaces. With pro7, they act just like a regular output, but MacOS doesn't count them against the 2 monitor limit.
The slingstudio app only controls the slingstudio. It has nothing to do with what the slingstudio sees as a source. You can connect your computer to the slingstudio's HDMI in port or a camera link (via HDMI from your computer). Either will work. In my tutorial, I used the HDMI in port.
Did you use the Camerlink for your video input into SS? Also could you use the USB-C as an input from Pro to SS? Or the USB-c as a way to bring the camera in? Or is the camera link my only other option?
There are two ways. I'm using the HDMI input jack on the slingstudio itself in this tutorial. It's connected to a USB-C to HDMI adapter connected to my Macbook pro in this tutorial. A camera link would work, but I didn't do it that way. I don't think you can add additional inputs via USB-c INTO the sling studio...at least I couldn't with my attempts to do so and I couldn't find any documentation that said you could either.
Do you mean that you’re using SlingStudio console is on a different computer from ProPresenter? If so, the ProPresenter computer would need to send an HDMI output to the sling studio hub. If that is set correctly, then yes. It should work fine that way.
What kind of computer that you are using for. I have Mac book pro I try to connect with sling studio. My Mac is lagged. Do I need to buy another one. Which one you recommend for me. My Mac is 8th Gen Quad-core intel core i5-8GB processor 1.4GHz, memory-256GB
8gb of RAM and the fact that it only has Iris Pro Graphics are the areas of concern for me, along with the speed of the processor. I upgraded from a 2017 (which you see in this tutorial) which had a faster processor and more RAM because I needed a better computer for the live trainings I do. So, I got a 16" MacBook Pro with a 2.3 ghz i9, 32 gb of RAM and an AMD Radeon Pro graphics card.
One more question. We currently use ProPresenter with out sling studio setup via hdmi in. This is to show slide content and announcements. Question I have is, if I’m using my one input into SS for this purpose, how will enabling the lyric overlay option impact that? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience.
You need to get the output of Pro7 into the slingstudio. If something else is going into the HDMI in, you could use a camera link, but those are your only options with the sling studio. With this technique, pro7 could send either text (with the key on) or full-screen content (just disable the key before taking it).

I have noticed with the green chroma key active in slingstudio, when the computer operator hit the "Clear All" button in Propresenter7 and I have the overlay displayed over my video, that it makes the entire Program feed go BLACK instead of just removing the lyrics. I was able to workaround this by setting a BLACK chroma key instead of the Green. Am I doing something wrong when trying to use the Green background?
Go into screen configuration and select the display that you're sending to sling studio. Now in the upper right hand corner, there's a "screen color" box. Check the checkbox and select the same color of green. Now, even when everything is cleared, it should stay green.

Hi Paul, I am trying set up pro presenter with our Sling Studio but I don't know how you did the broadcom 3.0. Where do you download this or is this in the Pro presenter program already. Thank you!
The "broadcom 3.0" is what the SlingStudio's HDMI input showed up as in MacOS when I connected my Mac via a USB-C to HDMI adapter and then to an HDMI cable to the slingstudio. I didn't download anything for that. I think I said in this video that (if not, I meant to) yours might show as something else.

Our lyrics keep swapping on certain slides. It'll look normal to the audience, but on the output to sling it'll put the second line on top and the first line on bottom. Like I said only a couple of slides, not all the slides. We have deleted the slides and manually put them back in, but it keeps swapping the lyrics... What are we doing wrong?
