A true Harley Guy....you cover your Harley when you work on it but didn't wear protection (except for eye protection) for your self or for your car.....Ride Hard dude!!!
Great video bro! Just gave me the motivation to do this to my nightster. I also found it funny you covered up the bike and didn't even worry about the van lol! Ride safe man
Cool video! I have a question.. Can a second passenger fit on it? Can I build a metalconstruction underneath for support? Is that possible? What do you think?
thanks, ya that might be rough unless she pretty petite. fender is obviously not as long but also cause i removed the bracket underneath it that made it more solid so could buckle under enough weight. i never have a passenger and worried about it hitting the tire on a bump/pothole, cause the fender sits closer to tire once the chop is complete.
The finished fender looks much closer to the tire than the stock was, did you lower the fender down or simply trim it, cut the rails, then bolt it back on?
just bolts, the only rivets are on the side panel thingys (not actual part name ha) on the fender (the part on the side thats indented/attached to the hang down reflectors).
Really cool video ! Looks awesome ! I am going to do this to my sportster iron 883 I want to use current stock fender like you did.however I don't understand how you adapted it ? Please could you tell me how. Thanks Jonny
Hi! Great modification. The fender don't touch the tyre when you ride your 48 ? What is the distance between the fender and the tyre ? Thanks for your answers! and sorry for my bad english, i'm french...!
hey bro I'm about to do this thanx to your motivational video but my only question is why did you cut the sides of the fender, is that what gave you such a tight fit to the tire?
I don't think there is any trick from my recollection, I think the wiring is just a simple clip under the seat to unplug and the lights are just bolted on and plug in the same.
just drilled holes in the frame on the back there, got rid of those bulky long blinker bases and just found some hollow metal tube and cut it so they were close to the frame.
have no idea haha, i pretty much just eyed it/lined it up.......took a guess and then cut a big chunk off, was still to long so i went back and cut off inch long sections until i had the right length.
the end i cut is the one under the seat. i just cut off like a 5 inch chunk and then seen if it was too long, it was so i cut off another 1 inch......kept cutting small chunks off until the length was right.
those are the stock turn signals BUT i removed the big bulky piece that made them stick out real far (the piece between the signal and the frame) . replaced it with some little metal tubing i found at home depot just big enough to fit over the bolt that connects the signal to the frame, and cut the tubing so they close to the frame yet not touching the frame.
Well, that's around the corner from me.. We should get together, maybe you could give me some pointers as to how to proceed w this chop... I'm by Bricktown Area
damn.....not EXACTLY sure cause i bought them a couple years ago. they were some cheap ones off ebay. think they 28 3/4 with 4 inch pullback. had i got 1/4 inch shorter they would not have fit/would have had issues with brake hose bolt hitting my top triple.
basically, i chopped the frame and the forward holes became the back holes, and with the fender i chopped the forward part, then attached to OG holes in the fender to the forward two holes on the frame (only holes left). ha, man i hope that makes sense. basically i cut opposite side off the fender and then just slid it forward to the other holes on the frame. it's attached by two frame bolts and the one under the seat.
no, I believe there is an optional small seat for a second passenger when you have a standard fender... there is a small hole in the fender, which you can see on this video as well. it's covered up, but I think it used to screw that second seat on.
since i'm no expert or guru i'm not to comfy giving advise or pointers......but if you wanna swing through one day i can show you what i did and how i went about it.
yep, i cut a "L" shape out of a piece metal, bent the bottom part of the "L", drilled a hole to mount to the shock screw, drilled and used little screws and nuts to mount plate to it. first one i made the metal was to thin and it broke off and lost while riding haha ooopppps. i learn as i go i guess.
sorry, didn't really make this as a tutorial. was just fucking around with my gopro . like i said, i'm about as dumb as a box of rocks so it can't be that difficult to figure it out.
Thanks. you are correct, that seat is horrible and have since then upgraded to some little lepera one that is better. To each their own I guess but them spring seats are one of the most hideous looking things people put on these bikes. I'd much rather go no seat then one of those. Spring seats only look good on frames with no springs (in my opinion of course).
+acemoneyhands awesome bike and great job, I have a question when you chopped the fender did you do anything else to get it close to the tire? I wanna do mine iron 883 but I'm afraid my fender will end up too separate from the tire, I like the way yours look. please let me know .. thank u
Sure that sounds good, let me know or privately contact me via email. Thanks I appreciate it... I'm no guru myself but if I see something that I can possibly do myself I will.. Thanks...
sorry but don't like the high speed vid can't see what you're doing i would've liked it regular speed in multi parts if needed & with some explanation what you're doing
I just need to keep watching these videos until I get the balls to chop my own 48...
That cigarette sure lasted a long time!
Didn't think I was gonna like it since the 48 looks beautiful stock but you did a nice job and looks clean.
Ride safe man
Came out super clean dude!
Awesome! I have no idea what I'm doing as well and this has given me confidence lol
Cool video! I have a question..
Can a second passenger fit on it? Can I build a metalconstruction underneath for support? Is that possible? What do you think?
its awesome watching the paint on that van be destroyed
Nice video. I understood it just fine. Looks like it just takes patience and common sense. Thanks for the upload man.
thanks, ya that might be rough unless she pretty petite. fender is obviously not as long but also cause i removed the bracket underneath it that made it more solid so could buckle under enough weight. i never have a passenger and worried about it hitting the tire on a bump/pothole, cause the fender sits closer to tire once the chop is complete.
Hi! Great job.. I’d like to know you how to mount rear turn signal lamp? Where? How to do?
I dig your style man. The dlx sticker and the bike
Great video! Thanks for sharing. How do you attach the fender to the frame? Thanks
Bravo man. Outstanding job.
Nice. I’m about to do that to my son’s iron 883. How did you remount the tail lights. And what did you use for a license mount?
The finished fender looks much closer to the tire than the stock was, did you lower the fender down or simply trim it, cut the rails, then bolt it back on?
Nice..looks like it will still support a pillion seat? exactly what I was looking for. thnx
just bolts, the only rivets are on the side panel thingys (not actual part name ha) on the fender (the part on the side thats indented/attached to the hang down reflectors).
Really cool video ! Looks awesome ! I am going to do this to my sportster iron 883 I want to use current stock fender like you did.however I don't understand how you adapted it ? Please could you tell me how.
Thanks
Jonny
Looks real nice, very clean edge. Did you paint the edge?
Hi!
Great modification.
The fender don't touch the tyre when you ride your 48 ?
What is the distance between the fender and the tyre ?
Thanks for your answers! and sorry for my bad english, i'm french...!
Excellent work! Looks great!
I dig it man. Looks really good. What bars are those and what are the specs?
Did you have to relocate the taillights or use the same holes?
hey bro I'm about to do this thanx to your motivational video but my only question is why did you cut the sides of the fender, is that what gave you such a tight fit to the tire?
Great job man! Looks sweet!!!
Great video man! How'd you treat the struts after you cut them? Did you paint the ends?
It's 10" shocks ? Nice job !!
Good job. Is that the original gas tank?
No eye pro and skate decks. This cat is my new hero. Bike looks much better after the cuts.
nice job man. ive been planning on tackling this on my fortyeight for a while. doesn't look too difficult.
how was it relocating the rear lights? where did you put them?
Just cut a hole further down the frame and slapped them on
nice work! how did you know where exactly to cut? did you use some sort of template/mask? thx!
Hi! Did you drill another hole for the seat lock?
Great job!!! Looks amazing
I bought mine without a fender and just ordered one. Do I need to get any brackets along with the hardware
Nice. Opening up the fender is a real pain, Is it necessary to open up the rear shocks?
Did you reuse the same turn signals?
What is the trick to getting the turn signals and license plate wiring off? I'm trying to remove the rear fender to get it fixed.
I don't think there is any trick from my recollection, I think the wiring is just a simple clip under the seat to unplug and the lights are just bolted on and plug in the same.
do u cut the fender at two side? or how make u this so fit?
hey what size of elan key are you using to take the shocks off?
hey man nice job.
I want to do this to my Iron, but the only concern i have is if the frame or the fender still strong enough to carry a passenger?
my question exactly...
just drilled holes in the frame on the back there, got rid of those bulky long blinker bases and just found some hollow metal tube and cut it so they were close to the frame.
Stock shocks.....whatever size that might be.
ya, touch up paint on the edge but the edge that i cut is the edge under the seat.
have no idea haha, i pretty much just eyed it/lined it up.......took a guess and then cut a big chunk off, was still to long so i went back and cut off inch long sections until i had the right length.
Hey nice! I plan on doing it on my 06 Sportster but just enough to put an chopped fender edge light. Did you ever put one? Great vid btw.
Hey man where are you located! I have the same bike and i've been wanting some work done to it!
Hello i m french
The most important for me where do you cut the fender
The vidéo is most rapid
the end i cut is the one under the seat. i just cut off like a 5 inch chunk and then seen if it was too long, it was so i cut off another 1 inch......kept cutting small chunks off until the length was right.
Cool Video. Try not to forget your glasses next time! lol
That was a good chop!
What make are those rear turn/stop signals? and what did you pair them with on the front?
those are the stock turn signals BUT i removed the big bulky piece that made them stick out real far (the piece between the signal and the frame) . replaced it with some little metal tubing i found at home depot just big enough to fit over the bolt that connects the signal to the frame, and cut the tubing so they close to the frame yet not touching the frame.
+smanHD sorry, I rarely am on here . Signals are just the stock signals and the front ones I took scissors and cut off so there are none.
just took a grinder and slightly rounded them, then took just some auto store touch up paint and worked out great
Well, that's around the corner from me.. We should get together, maybe you could give me some pointers as to how to proceed w this chop... I'm by Bricktown Area
EXCELLENT WORK!
Main question how did you for a jack under your sporty haha
i don't quite understand this one....?
I can't fit a jack under mine lol
damn.....not EXACTLY sure cause i bought them a couple years ago. they were some cheap ones off ebay. think they 28 3/4 with 4 inch pullback. had i got 1/4 inch shorter they would not have fit/would have had issues with brake hose bolt hitting my top triple.
GOOD JOB BRO
basically, i chopped the frame and the forward holes became the back holes, and with the fender i chopped the forward part, then attached to OG holes in the fender to the forward two holes on the frame (only holes left). ha, man i hope that makes sense. basically i cut opposite side off the fender and then just slid it forward to the other holes on the frame. it's attached by two frame bolts and the one under the seat.
That’s a great idea! I’ve never seen it done like that.
I was wondering if you can still have a passenger?
No its a single seat to start with
no, I believe there is an optional small seat for a second passenger when you have a standard fender... there is a small hole in the fender, which you can see on this video as well. it's covered up, but I think it used to screw that second seat on.
Perfect. Good work
Hey man I noticed you have the exhaust wrapped in heat wrap, are those the stock pipes?
Nah, they some Vance and Hines something
since i'm no expert or guru i'm not to comfy giving advise or pointers......but if you wanna swing through one day i can show you what i did and how i went about it.
thank you
Excellent!
Man, wear glasses for protection !!! or you will loose an eye !
Nice bike!
Any info on your plate mount?
yep, i cut a "L" shape out of a piece metal, bent the bottom part of the "L", drilled a hole to mount to the shock screw, drilled and used little screws and nuts to mount plate to it. first one i made the metal was to thin and it broke off and lost while riding haha ooopppps. i learn as i go i guess.
excellent video!
are those rear shocks stock? If not, what brand and size are they? Thnx...nice bike btw, just picked up my 48 today.
Just stock.
sorry, didn't really make this as a tutorial. was just fucking around with my gopro . like i said, i'm about as dumb as a box of rocks so it can't be that difficult to figure it out.
Thanks for the instruktion
also..u moved the turn indicators forward on the rear frame. same lights? any additional hardware needed?
Good job!
good job !
does the bike lose value?
that it is!....Portage Park.
I also use the skateboard method. LOL right on
YOU SHOULD HAVE USED A SAWS ALL ON THE FRAME FOR A CLEANER AND BETTER CUT, JUST A THOUGHT
surprisingly it turned out pretty damn good.
acemoneyhands that cool
Nice!
The car ... the car ...
Geez dude, Nice finish but I am an old dude I can in no way keep upwith you without having a heart attack too,
Nice
nice!
Covers bike, grinds into car.
cool man
dudes likely to die from lung cancer before he finishes the fender. :) j/k nice work man.
Bike vs Mini Van. Bike wins
Does this guy still have eyes?EYE PROTECTION!!!!!!!!
wow... and in only 5 minutes.
haha. MY bike, wifes mini van
fuckin good, im doin it to my 48, fuck it
I love that bike, but now you got to get a spring seat, because it dont look right with the bulky one,! either way nice bike
Thanks. you are correct, that seat is horrible and have since then upgraded to some little lepera one that is better. To each their own I guess but them spring seats are one of the most hideous looking things people put on these bikes. I'd much rather go no seat then one of those. Spring seats only look good on frames with no springs (in my opinion of course).
Lol. We all have opinions. Love it. But I love that bike. Great work
+acemoneyhands awesome bike and great job, I have a question when you chopped the fender did you do anything else to get it close to the tire? I wanna do mine iron 883 but I'm afraid my fender will end up too separate from the tire, I like the way yours look. please let me know .. thank u

Fender hasn't ever hit, at its closest point it's 1.5 inches. I'm about 165 pounds and live in the land of potholes, Chicago.
Skateboard deck saw horse
sorry but don't like the high speed vid can't see what you're doing i would've liked it regular speed in multi parts if needed & with some explanation what you're doing
M.F. NO SAFETY..!!
No safety fuck glasses
Good work!
