As a college educated, former career focused woman, I can truly say that I have learned more in my time as a SAHM than I ever did in both of my former arenas. It’s not easy, but it’s also incredibly fulfilling. We don’t get to travel as we used to, but I find that I don’t enjoy leaving home as much as I used to crave. I enjoy creating cozy and purposeful places in our home and a place my family also loves to be. Great video Cami! You’re family is very lucky to have you as the Keeper 😊
Thank you for leaving that comment! Your perspective could be life changing for someone here! There is such a unique joy about creating a cozy home and inviting place, that can't seem to be fulfilled elsewhere. Thank you again for the wonderful comment!
I, too, have come full circle. Working outside the home, having children, staying home with them and then wondering if I made the right decision, as I always seemed so unappreciated, to actually realizing what a gift I’d been given for the opportunity to create a place for my family to feel warm, safe and “at home”. I certainly now know how important that was. I am 59 now with a little grandson (19 mos) too far away and so wish I could be closer to help my daughter to really understand how important her role now is for her family.❤
I’m 59 now, and when I was little, I ran around making and followed by mess like Pigpen in Charlie Brown. I think I reveled in the creative process and paid very little attention to my surroundings. I was in the thick of living, and couldn’t be bothered. This carried into my twenties until I was married. I can easily say that homemaking was last on my list. My husband is clean and tidy, and taught me the joys of making a home beautiful. My mom always made our home lovely as well, as an interior designer, she epitomized elegant, cozy, and comfortable living. I remember when all this shifted for me. We were renting a little home on the beach, and I had an aha moment. I made the connection that if I surrounded myself with things I loved, and if everywhere I could see was loved and full of love, then I felt and enjoyed love no matter where I was in my home. Beauty is very important to me. Nature, anything handmade - stone, wood, grasses, linen, wool, ceramic - all these call to me. And, the more I incorporate natural beauty and anything handmade and toxin free into my home, the more I love it. The first thing people say when they walk into our home is that it feels like a sanctuary, even a sacred space. And they all say they leave feeling nurtured on a deep level when they stay with us. I believe this is the presence and the power of pouring love into our homes, our tasks, our surroundings, and everything we do. I am still a creative at heart. For work, I market an art museum through communications, graphic design, website content, social media, and photos. My job consumes and fulfills me. But home, it embraces me. Beauty, order, cleanliness, space, and love all nurture us at the soul level. So, I agree. Home-making is one of the most important things we can do as individuals, parents, friends and stewards of goodness.
Debby! Your comment gave me absolute chills! I had to respond right away. You embodied everything I was hoping to bring across. I could feel how much it all meant to you and the worth of a home in your heart. Thank you so very much for listening and taking the time to type all that up for us. I hope others will read what you said and feel the same. Thank you so much!
Cami, it was a pleasure to watch your beautiful video. So much so, that this is only the second comment I have ever made on TH-cam, since I have very little free time and cherish “living” over “surfing”. I can tell you have a generous soul and are making videos to benefit others, rather than to receive. When we do what our hearts insist, and the more people we uplift with our gifts, the more blessings flow into our lives. Your greatest blessing is your family and love for the sacred in your life. These things will always fulfill you, and as you share them with others, you in turn will continue to be fulfilled. 💕
I could watch your episodes all day. The sweaters are adorable. It will be hard to choose a colour as they are all perfect. Love apple sauce and that bread, let alone strawberries, look so delicious. Great idea re delegating kids to parent. Love those containers for seeds. Lastly, jealous of the snow. Live north of Toronto in cottage country. We typically have tons of snow, bright sunny cold days in winter but this year has been mild for the most part with little snow and mostly overcast. Looking forward to your next episode.
Now that is so flattering!!! Thank you Patti! I know what you mean - I know I can't keep every color for myself so I've had a hard time choosing! Ha! I would have thought you would get a ton of snow near Toronto too! It has been an incredibly mild winter for us, but we've had a handful of days that dump like this and it is magical. Other than those few times, you would have thought it was March from December-now. Crazy!
I hope when I am 78 I never stop learning too! My hubby is driving to Boise soon to deliver a couple of saunas, and I am glad to hear the snow hasn't been bad. I always worry about the roads. But I bet you have wished for some! Winter is pretty drab without a bit!
Thank you for the inspiration! These are great tips and help a lot with attitude and the performance of our roles as keepers of our homes. I can always use that! Also, thanks for the info on the automatic chicken door, I’ve been meaning to get one, but haven’t been sure which one would be a good value. It’s great that you are still harvesting carrots from last year’s garden! Something to note, it might be a good idea to get heirloom seeds and start letting some of those carrots go to seed, for saving. My husband’s cousins have been farmers in central Oregon for decades and they are getting out of farming because they are only being allowed to farm a third of the land because of an endangered frog. Apparently 75% of the carrot seed in the US is grown there, so there may be a huge shortage coming in carrot seed. I’m not trying to scare anyone, it’s just good to be prudent. Maybe farmers in another state will start growing more carrots for seed, I know it is already grown here in SW Idaho to a degree.
Thanks for stopping by Cynthia! The chicken doors have really been incredible. I always worry it won't work and then the chickens will be stuck in or out. We've had them on for months and haven't had a single hiccup. Funny you should mention the heirloom seeds. Hubby has been reading so many books about them and is prepping to order lots this year. That was so devistating and helpful to hear about the potential carrot seed issues. I often worry this is going to happen to a lot of our crops. Self sufficiency is going to be more and more important!
Let us know as soon as these swratshirts are available! I'm in TN, so sweater weather will be done before i know it(i'm from Buffalo , so i get so hot so easily here), and i want to wear it as much as possible. 🤗
I sure will! I was wishing I got these out months ago, but it was quite the process to find the right ones and source the printing and shipping of them in the US. But that was important to me and I found a great resource! I'll get them out soon so you can enjoy what you have left of sweater weather! Ha! We have months left!
I almost did, but decided I didn't dare do too many options at first. It gets really overwhelming. I haven't found the perfect crewneck yet - but I've got my eye out! I am with you - I love a good crew! Let me know if you have a style/brand that you really love.
I love when I can be home and do all the home things. Unfortunately, I’m not home as much as l’d like to be. I was a sahm for many years and loved every moment. It was a more doable life than what I’m doing now. And my house shows it :(
Yes, it is nice to just be home, since there is so much to do. I'm glad you got years of being a SAHM, I bet you treasure them. I hope you get the opportunity again soon, but as a work from home mom, I know the moments I get to just focus on home are my favorites!
Our children need us to be keepers of the home as well as our husbands!! We need more families homeschooling!!!

Enjoy your time with your children. The time flies so fast, and you don't realize what a positive impact you will have on your children!❤❤ ❤❤❤
When my children were at home, we would have power hour house cleaning. One hour, the five of us, every Saturday. We got a lot done off our list.
Cami, I love the sweatshirts!🤍
Looking for them, soon!!!

Thanks Cami for all the tips. At 78 I am still learning!! You have gotten a ton of snow. I am in Boise and no snow!!

I love this video!!!!!! And the black sweatshirt is calling my name ❤️

Might you produce a crewneck sweatshirt in the future? I love the idea, but I only like crewneck sweatshirts 😁
I almost did, but decided I didn't dare do too many options at first. It gets really overwhelming. I haven't found the perfect crewneck yet - but I've got my eye out! I am with you - I love a good crew! Let me know if you have a style/brand that you really love.
I'm the same! I prefer crewnecks more as well. The colors are so beautiful.
