This song got me through some bad depression many times. Screaming along to Corey losing his mind was such an important outlet. Slipknots first two albums were so good at this crazy, disturbing kinda song and they were so important to getting me through some dark mental times. They were the tool I used to cut my way through the dark and help me fight my way towards the light. One of favourite songs.
I feel you....if you watch the slipknot interview this was dark time for the band too everyone was on drugs and drunk most of the recording of this album alot of the band members dont like this album...
i know what you're talking about. i think thats what this band was for a lot of people struggling, they might have saved my life back in the day. they might sound weird, overly agressive and frightening to some but if you feel what they are feeling its like medicine. and noone apart from us maggots will ever understand this. i just realized the other day how much pain corey was carrying inside of him - just go over and watch the therapist session he did - he was a mess, he had post traumatic stress disorder from rape as a child, drug issues and he was just overwhelmed by the world. he's moved on and healed, he's so much better now. but the pain all of us have shared and we understand. that's why this band is more than a band or music to many of us.
Plus they also said every time they did this live they improvised it and never can really get it right like they did at the Indigo ranch when they were recording/mixing the album
Imagine how we felt when we first heard them back when this album came out, there was nothing like it at the time, it was crazy. This song is probably the rawest you'd ever hear Slipknot
This is definitley one of their most disturbing songs and in my opinion is the pure embodiment of rage. Corey's screams from the start, all the way to when he breaks down at the end definitley hit different
This song is basically the epitome of what slipknot is especially going back to mate feed kill repeat before Corey was even in the band. This is the dark lucid atmosphere that I’ve always known them for and are seen in the self titled and Iowa albums. It’s dark. Flat out dark and not many bands can achieve what this song does. What this whole album does
If you watch the slipknot documentary everybody was on drugs and drunk during this time period... most of the band members including corey dont like this time period in there Career... a lot of them could have died during this time... it was that bad...
At the risk of sounding pompous, this song is for old Slipknot connoisseurs. Not for the general fans who came over from Slipknot's more pop-y sounding songs.
I like slipknots new music its a good change i appreciate that. even if i didn't like something from them i still would appreciate them for doing what they want but Iowa is my favourite album.
Whatever your definition of pop-y is lol. Been listening for 18 years and they've never lost touch, intensity, and most certainly never have sounded pop-y ever lol. Love everything they've done from Slipknot, to we are not your kind. Lol.
This is just the typical ending to a slipknot album with Corey going crazy at the end of the last song 😂 (even though eeyore is technically the last song)
When Slipknot first appeared, songs like Spit it Out and Wait and Bleed got them air time on the radio and MTV, but it was songs like this one that made some people immediately fall in love with them. This song doesn't necessarily speak to everybody, but to some people, especially some young people having trouble, this song felt like it tapped right into the pain they felt and gave it a voice that they couldn't express themselves.
Basically Corey was f’ed up during to process of making this song, it’s very disturbing but beautiful, for an even more disturbing Slipknot song check out their song Iowa, it’s all sorts of insane. Btw, Josh Brainard was the Guitarist before Jim Root joined the band during the making of this album, Jim’s only credited for about 2 songs for this album if I’m not mistaken.
This is the sound that made Slipknot unique when they first came out! I wish they would have stayed this way but sadly they only had a handful of singles that sound like this after their first album including a song they play very rarely live called skin ticket :/ This song was actually the first song Joey Jordison wrote for the band which is why the beginning is so percussion focused. Its an amazing song that showcases the entire bands talents and is a truly unique sound in metal even by today's standards.
THE most underrated track. Dark, emotional, the anti-pop song. Corey Taylor's favorite song from Slipknot. Got me through some hell as well when I was in high school. Just an amazing track.
@@dskovron lol it's the real slipknot but it's not THE real slipknot. Yknow? Like, example: wich is more "real" slipknot, scissors or vermillion or dead memories?

This is the era of Slipknot I came into. Been a fan of theirs since 99. Granted this song is not for everyone. A lot a their older stuff was a lot more chaotic and raw because they themselves were young, angry and raw. Now a lot of people try to say that they became too "radio friendly" or they "sold out" because their later music lost this kind of edge. I disagree. To me, their music changed because they changed, as people. They grew up, and as most people should their perspectives changed, the world around them changed as did how they reacted to it. It happens to everyone, as it should. No one should stay stuck in the same mind frame and thought process for all their lives cause there is no way to grow and move forward. Now that being said yes people change but there will always be a core that never does. It may evolve and mold but overall who you are in your core, in your truest self doesn't really change. Slipknot has always kept that core energy. The way they present it may change over the years but there is still that full bore, teeth gritted, fight till the nails are bloody energy at the root of it. So I put it like this, this era of Slipknot was a dirty hacksaw. The edge was jagged, filthy and ready to carve up anyone in their way. Over the years it morphed into a freshly sharpened straight razor. Still deadly, still able to inflict punishment but more precise and stealthy. At least to me, it seems that way. I may be crazy though.😂
I believe Corey was showing us how he dealt and cut out drugs out of his life . I might be wrong , but when I listened to it as a kid in middle school this was so deep. It’s an anthem to cut out the bad in your life like drugs or negative people
@@burningtimeintexas3762 doesnt sound like it to me. i don't think slipknot were thinking about stuff like this back in the day. they didn't wanna bring a message across then, they just wanted to express rage and put that feeling into songs, which i think is fair too.
Their heaviest/darkest track (not heaviest on its own or darkest on its own, but together). The musicians' and Corey's dynamics are unparalleled in Slipknot's future.
Corey recently revealed this as his favorite Slipknot song of all time. This song is a work of art first and a song second, or at least what most generally percieve as a "song". It's supposed to be disturbing and its supposed to make you feel uneasy
from the old slipknot days.... corey is putting so much agressive emotion into this and it is real. thats the thing with them, they never put on a show, they felt that, they were that. guess corey is in a better place now, he's really evolved. good for him :)
This is no track for a reaction. You need to listen to it without breaks, pauses or talking. You just need to hear and feel it. It's disturbing but rough and real.
My fav song from slipknot truly distorted and fucking crazy song, as you say is not a radio song, in fact when they perfom this live most of the time was kinda freestyle shit uknow
Slipknot was a very very dark band back in the day you've had sneak peeks into their old shit and their new shit ain't nothing compared to their old shit!!
josh brainard was the OG slipknot guitarist that was with them for years but left during the recording of self-titled due to some business decisions he wasn’t happy with. he recorded most of the album except for the song me inside
They all were in a far more dark place when they recorded this album. Corey recorded a song naked with his own vomit all over him and he cut himself with glass before just to give it all the raw emotion n anger. Much respect 🙌 oh and they always had some different/experimental sounds and vibes on a few songs basically each album. This one grew on me over time
the very last second of the song where it sounds like someone throwing up is actually what that is. it was said that the band was watching a particularly gross pornographic film that was, uh... how should i say this... scat porn, meaning literally feces, and the ending is Chris Fehn, the ex-percussionist, throwing up in reaction to the porno
At the end of the song, Corey was actually vomiting because his technique was bad and hurtful at that time and if you growl that way you can make yourself vomit.

My favorite song from Slipknot. Those drums towards the end with Joey Jordison going off. It's epic!
This is my all time favorite Slipknot album. I play it when I'm deep in my Complex PTSD rage.
