My maiden name is Cross, just saying lol. This conversation is so prevalent on the island /country of Bermuda where I met you, Dr. Joy. The diagram is exactly what is a large portion been on this island country. The more like Aunt Kathleen is the other half of the chart in the past 30 years, so this next generation meaning my 30-26 years male seeds know this as the norm. This is an amazing conversation. There is a race association here that does NOT do the real work. I've gone twice and done what I thought was the real deep work, but, it was thrown back to being my issue of being "too black". Plus there were 19 grandchildren in my family therefore I didn't have to rely on friendships solely for companionship. Furthermore, I had the luxury of traveling to Europe & the Middle East through my college but I never forgot who & what I was especially in America .When you live in other countries you're perceived as American first ! I'm old school & America isn't satisfied unless they can pin a label on you plus I don't let other people define me, I define me !

Stating the heartfelt motivation to help, protect, heal, and change the murderous actions against people. This exchange shows a loving connection as opposed to not bringing feelings into the conversation and/or claiming that BLM is a war cry, is politically based imperialism. This is the reason it, in fact, equals being happily uninformed. Ignoring the lives that you help to destroy because of privilege is hateful. These acts are not from the head intellectual because the head is attached to the heart, the hate is political training.

Dr Joy DeGruy several years ago there was a program on the OWN channel the history of Black women. There was interview of several African American women who’s sons where killed. There are interviews of you Black girls , poet. I tried to reach out to the own channel. That program had so much information, that I feel it should have been shown Mother’s Day, and black history month at least twice. Because when your listening to so much knowledge, your going to miss things that are important. It’s such a pleasure to listen to you. Thank you.

I really enjoy your podcasts. As a middle aged white man I understand the color of my skin has given me advantages that people of color aren’t privy to. This is travesty to my race; the human race! I hate racism, bigotry and prejudice as much as any person I know. In my 60 years on this planet, much like poverty, I’ve come to realize racism isn’t going away. Not until GOD almighty himself returns will things be fair and just. Unfortunately for us who love and value the human being, regardless of race or ethnicity, those that perpetuate hatred will always have the loudest voice. Just like John the Baptist crying in the wilderness, those of us who abhor racism will be seldom heard. To that end I still hope and pray that ALL people will learn to love and accept one another. Peace to all mankind!!

I'm a career Soldier, college educated, minor in history, father to biracial children (two of them sons), currently having those conversations with my kids. I've had a couple of those "hard conversations" with coworkers, but in my profession, it's not a topic that is had at work. I'd love to be in your conversations.
I enjoy listening to your ladies. Love and respect to each of you. For the sister chart about black men IR dating is Informative but there is research from another perspective. The research was done by white women. And it said that Black women man prefer white men over all other men. And black men refuse to be second choice to another group of men, and this part gets dismissed. This also goes into the respect leave black women has for black men and the term "settling" as if black men are not good enough.
It’s hard to have a conversation with those who are traumatized. Often the conversation is founded on cognitive distortions (over generalizations, personalizations, mind reading, etc) and when one attempts to name the cognitive distortion, the traumatized feel like you are ‘denying their lived experience’. I have a good book for you to read, PTSS. Although I think that book even underestimates how historic trauma manifests in the traumatized. Thoughts?

I really enjoy your podcasts. As a middle aged white man I understand the color of my skin has given me advantages that people of color aren’t privy to. This is travesty to my race; the human race! I hate racism, bigotry and prejudice as much as any person I know. In my 60 years on this planet, much like poverty, I’ve come to realize racism isn’t going away. Not until GOD almighty himself returns will things be fair and just. Unfortunately for us who love and value the human being, regardless of race or ethnicity, those that perpetuate hatred will always have the loudest voice. Just like John the Baptist crying in the wilderness, those of us who abhor racism will be seldom heard. To that end I still hope and pray that ALL people will learn to love and accept one another. Peace to all mankind!!

I'm a career Soldier, college educated, minor in history, father to biracial children (two of them sons), currently having those conversations with my kids. I've had a couple of those "hard conversations" with coworkers, but in my profession, it's not a topic that is had at work. I'd love to be in your conversations.

The research was done by white women. And it said that Black women man prefer white men over all other men. And black men refuse to be second choice to another group of men, and this part gets dismissed. This also goes into the respect leave black women has for black men and the term "settling" as if black men are not good enough.

It’s hard to have a conversation with those who are traumatized. Often the conversation is founded on cognitive distortions (over generalizations, personalizations, mind reading, etc) and when one attempts to name the cognitive distortion, the traumatized feel like you are ‘denying their lived experience’.
I have a good book for you to read, PTSS.
Although I think that book even underestimates how historic trauma manifests in the traumatized.
