@DrJoyDeGruy my wife and I own 160ac of land and we are self sufficient with solar, our own water source and we’re growing our own food. we’ve been try to get family to get away from their toxic environments and come to a protected area. When I explain to them what we are trying to do for us and them they say that’s great but no one is get off their buts to come. This baffles me to no end. My land is in a town that only has 2 black folks, myself and my wife. There are some liberal whites and some conservative whites ( trump supporters). No one has been hostile towards me yet but I’m armed everyday this is an open carry area so they may be afraid to try me.

Jerome Garner the trade off is not renting, being on your own land, being self sufficient, not worrying if you kids are safe or your significant other is. If there is something we need we make it happen.

Right. At this point, segregation doesn’t sound like a dirty word. I feel safer in a likeminded black community any day. Some of us really desire to live around the same people who want us dead or back in chains. I’m good on all that.

As someone who was born and raised (and currently living) in Tulsa, it amazes me that there is such a conversation about Black Wall Street. The city and the state of Oklahoma has tried its hardest to not talk about it or claim it’s something in the past and we should move on, while simultaneously commemorating the okc bombing, which is a absolute slap in the face to Black people in Oklahoma. Just want to tell you guys that there are still Black people in Tulsa and we are still suffering from the impact of the massacre almost 100 years later💁🏾

Just recently, some relatives of survivors filed a lawsuit hoping to finally get some type of reparations. Other than that, the area of the city that was Black Street is slowly being gentrified. There are several black businesses in the area, but not nearly as much as it used to be.

Our ancestors, under segregation, thrived, even after many black communities were destroyed by anti-black racism. Sixty years ago there were more thriving black communities with a variety of businesses, clubs, schools and hospitals, etc. But within the past fifty years, integration has slowly eroded the powerful resolve we had to maintain our own.

That said, I wake up everyday with a mission of fighting this stupidity whenever it pops up. You can call it my ptsd. My friends know better now, after George Floyd. I am in IT (Help Desk) There was a time when connected systems had the "Master/Slave" verbiage. However, this has changed (Because it does not properly convey the relationship) It is called now "Server/Client" I could always tell when I have an arsehole, they would INSIST on calling it master/slave, even if I correct them, it was disgusting.

The whole “master and slave” oven was a real eye opener! We have ovens like this in my kitchen and I never knew this was the description! I can only imagine the conversation this description would bring in white setting. Those American 🇺🇸 appliance companies knew what they were doing! Frigidaire….🙄
I can only imagine what the white lady electrician’s response was like with white home owners.
For me, integration has been a mixed bag. I lived in a predominantly white neighborhood as a kid and I remember the neighbors always wanting to know what my dad (he’s a retired engineer) did for a living to afford the new boat, and the new cars we had! My father went to work wearing a suit and tie each day, which made them wonder even more. I had neighbors asking me questions about my father every time I played with their kids. After telling my parents, they told me to say my dad just goes to work like everyone else! 😂

I think it should be more clearly explained that one of the primary results of segregation is it made it easier to target black people with destructive policy/practices. In the book Color of Law the author talks about how once you sectioned black people off into specific areas it opened the door for other racist policies. You can have unequal funding for schools because of separate school districts, black areas were zoned industrial so you have factories in close proximity exposing them to more pollution and a myriad of other issues.
The analogy of "The white man's ice is colder" is too harsh on blacks when you have this situation. When as a group you are stuck with all this failure then yes their "ice is colder" because they have all the resources and policies to make it so, not because we as a people are inherently inferior or feel we are.

It's so irritating that we so often take extra time in our discussions to assure non black people that we believe in all humanities and there was only one race and there's no real differences between people. Tell that to the ones crushing and killing us. Whether it's cultural, historical, or mere "superficial" difference in features, hair, skin tone, non atrophied pineal gland, physique...you get the picture? Example if It wasn't important that the figure of Jesus was black or white, there wouldn't be such a monstrous worldwide centuries long effort to make sure he's portrayed otherwise. If there isn't significance difference between the so called races then why are black people continually persecuted for it, and why are WE the ones always apologizing for it ?

I love and greatly admire and respect you Dr. DeGruy. White folks can be so scizophenic as well as arrogant and ignorant when they encounter our presence in public spaces. An example is situation I encountered on a subway train when an arrogant jackass got out of his seat and yelled at me to "get out of here you don't know me" and another incident occurred when I was moving into nice condo when this white guy on bicycle had the nerve to ask me do I live in the condo which really threw me off guard and taken aback by the question. I told the assistant project manager at the property who was a Black woman about the incident and she told that man on the bicycle who lived there that I was about to move in and straightened out any misunderstanding he had about me. Dr. De Gruy your shows need to be on nationally Black owned media outlets so millions of our people can watch or listen to your spellbinding analysis of what we as African people have face in this continued hostile climate we're in and how effectively counter it to advance our self determination as Aftican people.

You don't have to have an actual 'sundown town'. Right here in Los Angeles there is an area you will know - Pacific Palisades. Well back in the late 1990's me and my middle aged friend had been to dinner and wanted to extend our evening. Having eaten out near Abbot Kinney and Venice Blvd., we decided to drive through The Palisades and drool over the beautiful homes. The breeze was wonderful and the homes were mesmerizing. Unbeknownst to us the neighbors had gotten nervous seeing these two middle aged black women cruising in my old early 1990's Plymouth. We were stopped and the spotlight was brightly trained on us. The security officer was reasonable but made sure we saw she was packing. After talking with us for a few minutes she decided we were harmless, but that she had to do her job and make the neighbors comfortable. So she offered to take us on a tour. She had three sights she offered to show us; 1)a 500 year old African tree; 2)the homes of a Hollywood couple who lived side by side as opposed to under the same roof and 3)the mansion built out of 5 homes purchased by an oil Shiek. The tour was delightful; but, needless to say we were no longer comfortable even in the city of Los Angeles not too far from home-mid city. So we got the message and drove on home to mid city Los Angeles. I have never been back as I understand Pacific Palisades though beautiful, is off limits to me-heartbreaking realization for me and my BFF. I don't know if this is totally relevant, but it certainly brought up that unpleasant memory of what started out as a pleasant outing. Thank you Dr. Geruy for all the teaching you are doing.

What we are presented with in America about what gives or adds to a person's value is contingent upon achieving what descendents of Europe have convinced us is required to establish our existence as valid, worthy even, and that's is not true. Even though the "American Dream" gives many children fodder for how they should live, it is limiting belief. Amplifying the effort and reward that comes from kindness is a truly defining trait. I love this conversation. We have to do something, we have to totally seperate from them and be allowed to heal. I say we do it in africa. I am so tired of all the racism, I am going yo leave get mes some land in africa and have a little peace. I love the idea of getting our own but, I just don't want to fight anymore let them have it. We built here we can do it again in our own land this is the great EXODUS time to go.

And when it appears that all has ended for man, that it is death which has won,or evil that has triumphed, from out of the darkness will come the beings of light; From death they will be revived int the true life, and out of the abyss of evil they shall rise up to practice the eternal Law of The Most High.
