I’ll never forget a great school administrator named Mr. Cisneros in Pasadena ISD, with whom I had interviewed way before those other jobs-and he was truly the kindest person who spoke several languages and genuinely believes in all people’s rights to succeed. But the question that we have to ask is,"Who or what brought humanity to this precipice of destruction ? I noticed that too. She was clearly not feeling what he was saying and it showed on her face for the whole hour and a half.
I think what I love about this, contrasted with some of Tim Wise's other work, is the different energy. In a lot of his other speeches, you have a fervor, and anxiety, and a frustration with the current social model that comes across as anger at those with the advantage.
And this one is very measured, there's a lot of hedging, and it's a lot clearer in communicating "This doesn't have to be anyone's fault. It's someone's fault, it's the result of hate, but it makes no difference. Let's just look at our blind spots, let's see how these things impact people unfairly, and let's work to fix it".
And in many ways I think that's good because it gives the racists less to hold on to. The people in comments saying that Tim Wise is self-hating or promoting an anti-white narrative are dripping in irony. If you can look at this and say there's an anti-white narrative, then surely you can see anti-black narratives EVERYWHERE, right?

I see no anti black narrative. Black crimes are hidden or talked about 1 time and its over. If a white harms a black, that white guy becomes a household name as the devil, and the black guy becomes an angel.

“People of Color” and Black people, aka African Americans, have a totally different history. Different.
We have to remember this. It’s actually insulting in many ways since many POC usually benefit from Black fighters from the past and present contiguous struggles for equitable justice and resources.
However, most don’t know to appreciate the benefits fought for since they were not taught. Willfulness to ignore the struggles is a difficult task to master too.

I have a question, because a man is Jewish does he stop being white, in particular to the eyes of the society? moreover in a society ruled by skin color, like the American one?
Jews, in particular this one, are considered white because they are white, their skin is white, what other requirement is necessary to be white than have white skin. Saying different would be the construct of a construct. That is why racism strikes me as so low, because it is so illogical.
Then, if one takes the argument that a person, because of the group from which they come, cannot criticize and analyze the society in which they live, then nobody, ever, would have the right to say anything. Don't you think?
I didn't know he lives there, but t I think that is irrelevant to the case, first, because a person can live wherever they please and still be in possession of solid arguments, such as Mr. Wise, secondly, because what makes this kind of intellectual alluring is that he is based on facts, and the points he present are hard to counter using logic.
Now, your statement that multi-cultural societies cannot exist is a bold one. Not only every possible country I can think of is a multi-race and culture one, but also, to me, what is showing its true colors is the poor moral fabric that constitutes of the persons.
Last, I do not think there is such thing as white - to me it is just a construct that serves well some people, a particular discourse -. A white person from Italy will never be the same as a white person from America nor as one from South America or from Russia; or for that matter, there is no such thing as "Asians", a Chinese citizen is totally different from a Japanese or Filipino even to uneducated eyes they are the same. A black person from South America will never be the same, at any level other than skin color, as one from the US nor as one from Congo or Ghana or from France.
All these divisions are just too fake to be true, too conveniently fabricated, still, when put to the test of logic they easily unravel.

I have a fraternity brother (White) a couple years older than me (36 Black), and from a different school 300+ miles away, who exemplifies the answer to the first question at the end. He doesn't get defensive if I call him out on what can be perceived as a slight; he asks for clarity and makes an actual effort to adjust his approach without just rolling over. I'm closer to him than I am my own initiation class or other chapter members.
Communication is a powerful tool to wedge the gab. .it's so insane to practice racism. What to look at is economy. Everyone needs capital to move forward. Education is the key to getting ahead and then the opportunity to use the knowledge to foster that knowledge.

I grew up in a prominently black area as a child. I was the only white girl in class (head start and kindergarten). I didn't ask my mom why. I wanted her to braid my hair like my friend's hair.
But when i went to summer camp, it was full of white kids. I didn't feel comfortable. Couldn't wait to go back home.

I was trying to explain this to a friend of mind that no matter how good of a person you think you are and are trying to be you're still part of a system that's discriminatory. You don't have to hate poc or gays or anything to participate in a system that benefits you.
