I'm so glad your mom let things go. It's so hard sometimes. It's awesome, y'all are doing this together now. It will make things easier later. What a journey. Great job. Decluttering is such a big chore. Thank you for helping your mom & sharing the task with all of us.
You are doing a beautiful job for your mom. One thing that I will suggest is making sure to keep all items within an easy reach for your mom. If she has to climb up a step stool to reach a food storage container, for example, and that is something that she uses a lot, it's best to keep those things down lower. In fact, I went through and took everything off of the highest shelves in my kitchen because I'll be turning 60 soon and I just don't need anything that high up in my kitchen anymore and, as it turns out, I wasn't using the stuff stored on those high shelves so it all got donated.
Just found this video. It is such a beautiful thing you are doing for your Mum. I lost my Mum less than a month ago and have had to clean out her unit. She had so much stuff it was overwhelming. I am determined not to leave a lot of stuff for my own children to sort through. Also... love the cat supervising in the first part of the video 😂
I can so relate. We been in our house for 33 years. Been declutterring room by room over the past 6 months. Tough job, but feeling much better that someone else can get some joy out of things I literally haven’t used for over 10 or so years. Refreshing. Well done for helping your mum out. ❤
Just stumbled across your channel and I love it. My grandmother and mother were both hoarders so I know first hand what a under taking this is. I tried numerous times to get both of them to declutter first my grandmother, which she refused my help and didn't get rid of anything, and then my mother who was an only child, and when my grandmother passed my mother insisted we bring all of grandmother 's stuff to her house.😮 Then my mother wouldn't let go of anything and became upset when with me and so I finally just put things in boxes and stacked them out of the way so they wouldn't be trip hazards. When my Mom passed, my sister and I had so much stuff to go through. It took us several weeks to go through everything and three yard and inside house sales. What was left we gave to a gentleman that had a thrift store. I swore then I would never do that to my kids and I try to be mindful of buying nic-nacs and dust catchers and things I don't need. I will never be a minimalist but I don't want to be like my mother and grandmother. You are so sweet to help your parents out, and be grateful they are willing to let go of stuff.
What a great daughter and thanks to your mum for letting you share on your platform. Great job! The cabinets are probably a reflection of most people's homes who have lived in the same house for many years,
Sometimes it’s so overwhelming, you just need someone else to come in and hold your hand and give an outsiders perspective. So happy for your parents. ❤
I have a tall narrow spice cabinet like your mom, and I found little shallow bins that fit perfectly into the cabinet, so I can organize all my spices in the bin and easily slide it in and out and set it on the counter to grab what I am looking for. It's easier than trying to dig for a certain spice in the back of the cabinet on a high shelf.
I’m so excited for this series! Please thank your mom for us as letting the internet see your house is no small thing! You’re a sweet daughter and doing a wonderful job so far 😊.
I'm 74, my mom hoarded trash, papers, old rags, etc. My dad would toss stuff, we'd toss stuff, but not make much progress. I try for minimalism. Tina, Al's wife
I love a deep declutter vid! This will be so great for your parents as they prepare for surgery and possible down sizing! You are a blessing to your parents! Looking forward to vid 2!
I completely understand, this is like my parents' house. They have lived in it for over 50 years. So helpful when your mom is good at letting things go. That is so nice for you to help them. The battle with elderly parents is the task is so overwhelming. Never mind haha I find it hard to get started. Great motivation loving the content. Thank you for sharing.
I love it when people declutter their parents's house. I assume it's because I wish my mom would let me declutter her place 😂 It's so nice of you to do this and I'm sure your parents appreciate it. And omg the cats!! They kept coming and my heart got more and more excited! What a cute bunch they are 🥰
I just decluttered/reorganized my mom's house last year. It was a multi-generational house, owned by my late grandparents, and now my mom. Needless to say, there was a lot of things collected over the years. It is such a privilege to be able to help my parents out as an adult. ❤
I did that just before Christmas. I put our artificial tree with lights and lots of decorations. So fun to meet the persons that got the items for free. It was win win for all of us.
Watching you and your mom work together to reach your goal was enjoyable. I am so tired of cleaning channels where someone does the cleaning for someone who won't or can't help and will not part with anything.
I loved this week’s video! You are so kind to help your mom tackle this big job. I’m excited to see the whole kitchen transformation! What a fun memory to look back on, being able to spend time with your mom doing something so helpful for her. 😊
So great you can help your Mom. I helped my Mom declutter some cabinets and her freezer last year. My grandkids helped and one of them held up a can and said this expired before I was born lol.
I bet that is a huge load off your mom’s mind to have decluttered so many items. You are such a sweet daughter to help her with such a huge transformation! Great job!👏 🙌❤
Loved this video Catherine! Your mom is truly amazing that she is not only willing to accept your help, but let you video the process! What a gift you are giving each other!
Kitchen stuff - people who are going to housing (after being homeless) really need kitchen stuff. If you contact homeless shelters, women's shelters, etc saying you have kitchen things to donate, they will know organizations who can get the things to people who need them. Also some churches have or know of programs/orgs.
The joys of cabinet Tetris... So glad for your mum that stuff is going & not coming back, as well as for you because you don't have to play Tetris, pro edition, to put all the stuff back. It is a wonderful gift for mothers' day that you're giving her, a safe haven from the clutter.
I know that it sounds crazy but I declutter my parents house every single time I visited em, I can fill up a huge trash bag in less than an hour! My mom is always happy when I help her out, It's an overwolming process so she can t do it by herself I'm so happy that your mom has a better space to work with now ❤
What a wonderful Mother's Day gift you have given your mother helping her to clean and declutter her home. Thank your mother for opening up her home to us, and I love her cats!❤ 🙋♀️🇦🇺
Your mom have been working full time all her life, of course she haven’t been able to keep up or know where to start. How nice of you to help her! I’m thinking about offering to help my MIL with her kitchen after watching this.
I just lost my mom March. Third of this year and it's very difficult, but I would go in twice a year and declutter for my mom and do An extreme clean for her she loved hanging on to everything and anything. And that was just her way, and it made it difficult very difficult for her to get around. With a lot of. Stuff and I did not want to see her get hurt. Or things fall out of the cabinets on her. She appreciated it so much in the end. I am still decluttering things even now. Since she passed but it is taking me awhile. Because I get very emotional. So you're right, no one should say anything about your mom. In a negative manner that is, your mom and people should be very respectful of that.
@@CatherineElaine thank you so much for your sweet words. I just happen upon your channel because I heard the word Mom and that got me right away and the fact that you were helping your mom you are such a sweet daughter to be doing that so I will be tuning them to your channel from here on out, thank you for being so kind to your mom and helping her and I know she appreciates it. You remind me so much because I always wanted to help the clutter and do things for my mom. God will truly bless you.
My mom just last year had a hip replacement surgery, best thing she could have done, was scared to do it but what a life change. Glad you are helping your parents with decluttering. ❤
My parents have been in the same house for 45 years since 1978 and are in the process of moving into a smaller home. It was crazy how much stuff they had accumulated and have purged prior to the move.
I’m new to your channel and you hooked my when you warned people not to smack talk about your mama! I’m closer to your mom’s age than your age and have recently embraced Swedish Death Cleaning. It has really given me a different perspective that decluttering is a final gift to your kids when you pass. Sounds morbid but when I think about the stress cleaning out my parents house caused me it’s something that really hit home with me. Give those kitties a belly rub for me!
Corner cabinets are a pain! Yes there may be alot of room per se but there's not alot of easy access so you're either wasting space to have easy access(me) or using the space and it's a pain to get to things. You ladies are so blessed to have eachother. I think its awesome you are willing to help your mama out and even more awesome she agreed to let you share it.❤❤
1992 - Great job. I'm sure you parents are very happy with your help! I keep decluttering to help out my daughter so she won't have a lot to go through someday. I love your mom's cats!

Things can accumulate over the years! Going thru this at my parents house (46 years in there!) and in my own house (13 years!) best of luck, great job mom on decluttering!
I am glad to see you cleaning your parents home. I wish my adult children would help me. Hoping showing your video to them will help. Great job !. Love and Hugs

Very hard to let things go....
If you have a small basket for vitamins that fits the cabinet, it is easy to pull it out, keep it together, clean, and less in and out.

This probably feels like such a relief for your parents! So awesome!
Proud of your mom for letting things go!

We had the best day filming this!
I totally love how you honor your Mom. She is blessed to have a wonderful daughter.
What a blessing to have a wonderful daughter like you. To serve your parents with your talent and time. I’m sure it’s very much appreciated. 😇
This literally looks like my parents house! My mom has Tupperware from the 60’s!! They have had their house for 57 years in July!
Your mom raised an amazing daughter! Well done, Mom!
Love the kitty trying to get some attention and see what you're up to ❤😂
Absolutely adorable kitties!! The supurrvisors!! 💖💖💖

watching all the videos from you helping our mom today , when time permits! God Bless

Wonderful gesture. Your mom is wonderful. She opened her home for your video. Hello from Montreal, Canada. 🥰2009!! 😁

I've been in my house 34 years and I understand. I've been decluttering 34 years of stuff. And it feels great. I found alot of multiples.lol.

You did an awesome job. Me as a mother and grandma it is easy to collect cups and just stuff.. I know you made her feel happy.

For the expiration date, I will guess: 1999. This is a good reminder that I haven't gone through our spice cabinet in quite a while!
You are truly a blessing. I wish my mom would let me declutter her house.
What a great use of everything you’ve learned about simplifying! I bet your mom was grateful for the help!
I love your mum already and I’ve never watched your channel before. I’m thinking it’s because we have 4 indoor cats too😻😻😻😻
This is SO much fun - decluttering with you for your mom !!!
Thank you so much for sharing this !!!
Have a wonderful week !!! 💐

I’m so excited for this series. God bless your Mother for letting you do this. I think the oldest date was 2009.
We all have family members who don't declutter. I need to help the people in my life, but they aren't ready. Great video.
What a wonderful Mother's Day gift you have given your mother helping her to clean and declutter her home.
Thank your mother for opening up her home to us, and I love her cats!❤

I’m so proud of your mom! I know this is so hard…
My parents lived in their house for 48yrs and my daughter and I had to declutter the house it took years. I can totally relate.
I always loved helping my mom declutter!
Great video and looking forward to the next one!

It's great that you are able to help your parents declutter. I'm sure its like a weight has been lifted. I hope you continue this series.😊
I think part two should be up on Wednesday!!

Awesome job! And it didn't even look that full to begin with to me. It just looked like a kitchen well lived in.

Great job mom! I'm retired and recently decluttered my cabinets. I left most of my upper ones empty since they are hard to reach. Don't want to have to climb and take a chance on falling. Look forward to next episode!
This was a much needed projects. That’s awesome you helped your mom. I used to do that with my mom. All I can say is cherish ever moment. I guess 1986
I can really see all the memories and love in their home 💞. I'm glad y'all got to tidy up the house a bit together. It can be hard to let things go, im proud of y'all! ❤️
My guess is 2004! I’m so glad your mama wanted to do this! It’s going to be a great series and your parents are going to benefit from it so much! ❤
Awesome!!! It's an extremely beautiful transformation. Can't wait to see more! ❤
Great job Catherine. I am sure your Mom was so thankful for your help. Now that you started the ball rolling, she will have a major transformation in the near future. So satisfying! 🥰
I have those same cabinets! They are the worst! I had to take Dawn and a green, "Scotch Brite" scrubby to get them clean! We do a LOT of cooking and these cabinets seem to a be a magnet for grease & dust!
They’re definitely a grease and dust magnet!
It is so awesome that you are doing this for your parents
Great job by you and mom.
Thank you!!
That open cabinet may be a good opportunity for things like the air fryer, crockpot, etc to get off the counter but still easily accessible
My daughters helped me after I had a long illness. My favorite thing is some plastic baskets with a handle on the front that came from Walmart. The only things that are on the top shelves are in those baskets and they put a label on them. I can just reach up and grab the handle to pull it down, much safer than standing on a stool. They are good for down low too. Maybe you can get some for her? She will not be able to reach her Tupperware.
Large lazy susans were life savers for us a few homes ago with large corner cabinets.
Excellent job Catherine keep shining your light wherever you go. Lots of blessings and prayers for you all. ❤❤❤❤❤
Way to go with the declutterring ,I am also doing the same thing. Less clutter less stress
Agreed!! 👏🏻
Bless your heart for doing this for your parents
So sweet of u 2 help your mom
