Great recap list. 2024 was a very good STO ship year. A little bit much powercreep but I hope DECA will start revisiting older ships/triats/consoles and upgrade them slowly but steady. This would also be much cheaper than to create/design 15 new ships each year. I also hope T1-5 ships get a bit love over the upcoming years. Nevertheless: Thank you Spencer for this entertaining year. I learned a lot from you (and other creators of course). Stay healthy and Happy New Year!
My personal ship of the year is the Typhon, just because the all-turret lazyboat is so fun for random TFOs. Flying into the middle of a Borg hive, hitting the clicky and tanking all the cubes while shooting turrets in every direction is so damn satisfying to watch
I thought we had an amazing year for ships. Almost all of them were solid contributions to the meta, and I agree having most of them in the C store is the best. You can spend $90(at full price not on sale) and get 3 awesome ships, instead of 100-150 for just one T6 lockbox ship.
@@csnyder6997 Oh yeah? Well if you're into the heavy cruiser types of ship, the Gagarin is solid and I personally love playing around with the trait. And in my opinion, if you have the Ahwahnee pets unlocked, you'd have a ton of fun with the Typhon carrier. Fully tactical, two hangar bays, and the trait unlock is basically a third hangar bay. I damn well love that ship. It's also got full command spec, so useful for tanking and torpedos as well. But if you're a min max DPS chaser type, there might be a more optimal purchase, especially if you've got cash to spare and can afford to grab a bundle. If not, I'd personally aim for the Typhon. You Ahwahnee pets x 2, the elite Valkyries x1 (from the trait) and I'd even consider a beam fire at will (faw) build, using the Gagarin trait to give me constant faw uptime. Plus Suppression Barrage III? That's one tanky build. Sorry haha. I might have gone too far in a few places...
Not having tried all the new ships of 2024, the ones I have picked up and enjoyed, my stand out ships for the year is the Ahwahnee Command Carrier and the Typhoon Temporal Battlecruiser. The Ahwahnee had the best utilities to serve many of my other builds and the Typhoon is just a great looking ship as well as being a solid platform for a variety of gameplay. Happy New Year🥳
So saturated on fed ships. I know they sell but i have over a hundred and i have a really hard time justifying more new fed ships. I just end up waiting for event campaigns
Odd thing is that by now most ships aren't bought because of their looks. They're bought for their consoles and their traits. So DECA could easily just put those consoles and traits on Klingon and Romulan ships (oh yeah and the Jemmies) but they don't. So it's a self-fulling prophecy. Federation ships sell the most, because they are the only ones given with really decent traits and consoles. So people buy more of them, and then DECA sells more Federation ships.
I would pay some serious cash for a good BoP. Not in a lockbox, not the 4/3/1 garbage we have now. A good, full spec BoP with 5/3/1, pilot raider, enhanced battle cloak, that can go nuts with cannons or torps. So an Eagle in a birdie costume. I don't care. We need better Klingon ships that aren't giant freaking battle axes with engines.
@@alanyura644 I think as a raider we'd probably more likely get a 5/2/1 over a 5/3/1, but I agree that they've really screwed the pooch with BoPs. I'd also like to see a few more Raptor offerings
@ChrisRecouvreur I'm cool with me raptors. The old ones look like some kid kitbashed old rocket models with battleship models and threw a janky skin on
I like the Kardashev but mostly because of its looks. Ive got all the c-store , event and a few of the lockbox ships from this year including the Credence. My favorites have been the Typhon and Credence, have to give the Atlantis another go. Great video as always.
Another solid round up video. Was surprised about the Dyson ships a bit as the bundle was not well received at the time. Thankfully the LB and promo ships were poor this year, that way the most impactful consoles/traits/ ships were more accessible for the player base Nice way to end 2024 and let’s see what we have in store (pun intended) in 2025.
I hate to have missed the rex alliance (I started only late May, my first event was the account wide phoenix token) it seemed like a great ship which I'd definitely fly!
I'm gonna have to come up with a way of getting the Atlantis to match up to the Dhailkhina. The biggest loss for me is that you're going to have to favour locators instead of isomags with it, and the lack of the hangar bay for Type 7 shuttles. If I could, though, I'd want to make the Achilles work even more, just because I don't like the visual design of the Challenger-class.
The Dyson ship bundle is actually fairly cheap compared to other ship bundles we've gotten lately. I'm holding my Zen until the next anniversary bundle. If that doesn't thrill me I might just get the new Dyson ships.
Hi Casualsab thanks for the video and all the work you put in to produce these videos all year. Btw i was wondering if you could make a vudeo on how to use the Exchange properly as i still (after 2 years of playing this game) find it a mess and hard to narrow searches down to find ships or equipment i am interested in, often the search results are not consistent or clear. If you think it is worth your time, could you do a How To video on using the exchange, what is worth buying on there, what is not, what things are best to sell and so on. If you can't, no worries, its just a frustrating experience for me and no doubt other players at times trying to find things or decide what to spend my EC on. Thanks anyway, keep up the good work.
I want that Modified NehgVar from Armada that shit that troop landing craft that cuts into the enemy hull. As long as it drastically drops enemy resistance's and debuffs the crap out of them. And some Cardassian ships would be great too.
great guide, but as a player that doesn't spend money and plays for free, it's just astounding how much it costs to put together a build. The joy of living in a 3rd world country. Happy new year :D
Ahwahnee is also phenominal for space barbie. It has the Stargazer 4 engine ship mix so a ton of varied looks. I keep being asked what ship Im flying my kitbashed one looks so not like a normal one :D Oh and that ship trait is nice too.
The Ahwahnee console says it buffs a 'friend' but works on yourself. Will it still have much value if they actually make it work as the tooltip says, and only work on another player?
I pretty much only fly ships with seating for Surgical Strikes at this point, since FAW was nerfed so many times and BO extension trait is broken half the time. More SS3 ships in 2025 or bust!
I'm not surprised MW ships were the greatest in number, they're likely the most popular, as not everyone can afford a uncon build with enough clicky consoles good enough to include in it. That's why i'm *still* using as many isomags as possible...just can't afford the meta these days. Isomags, however, I can afford...and don't get me started on the cost of DPRM..it's unobtainium
Maybe deca can start to reverse this trend of giving good traits and consoles primarily on fed faction. It'd be nice Klingnon and even jem hdar faction would get some additional love. Breen and so on.
One item that was overlooked was the shuttle that came as an accessory to the heritage pack….and ignored the other 2 items (especially the phaser sniper rifle)
My main point was talking about the Elite Valor fighters, especially since they have a greater rarity level than the Type 7. But there’s a lay out difference that can complicate an absolute call on game play value. Three weapons to two, but those 2 are omni’s (with 2 attack patterns vs 3)
It's not really. When he said "it's the best EPG in the zen market" that's the truth, but there are better ships out there, but you have to go through lockboxes or the Fleet to get them. While you lose a second LCDR science slot, you can still use a couple of temporal powers in the engineer seating and get some good dps out of those, as long as you pick a temporal that uses EPG to boost it's damage. You could even fill the LT slot of the engineering seat with a temporal power, and use the universal ensign seat for a second engineer if you really think you need one. Personally, I'd rather have a second science LCDR slot but the temporal slots aren't bad.
Man if all ships would be single on the C store it would be grand. I hate the big bundles they basically sell you 1 good ships and 2 mid for 3 times the price... and the lockboxes, let's not even talk about it, it's pure gacha gambo trash

@ so far I’m using the Garagin. I just bought the Ahwahnee for the console. Building a phaser build. Not sure what console to get next.

I'd seriously recommend the Typhon from the zen store for any newer players. Full tactical ship with two hangar bays. Beautiful.
I hate to have missed the rex alliance (I started only late May, my first event was the account wide phoenix token) it seemed like a great ship which I'd definitely fly!
The rex is a beast!
Great breakdown, this definitely a player-friendly year for ships. Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend.

My favorite ship is the Constitution III Miracle Worker Cruiser. I get 500K-600K dps and for me that is all I need.
Thanks for your review.
I run a Fractal tank. It's fun. Especially when it's a Borg cube that's just disintigrating and all the drones are like....wtf is happening?!?
c-store ships are always welcome, anything without lockbox randomness is good for us players
I got tired of looking at the T6 coupon in my bank so bit the bullet and got the Atlantis.
2024 was a good year for playing STO. Hopefully 2025 is better.
The Obama Miracle Worker Heavy Cruiser is a great ship. Still, I didn't get any of the 2024 Luckbox or Promo ships. :)

On console, id love for them to make all consoles have auto activation. The m6 computer does not
Yes DECA - Please give us more Jem'Hadar ships or even Klingon ones!!! Enough of the Fed ships for a while.
I must be missing something... What's good about the Lo'laH's console?
Does really good damage for EPG and only has a 1 minute CD.
@@CasualSABGood to know.
I guess I better get the Typhoon, then, for free, with glee...
😢Coupon not valid 😢
Can someone tell me what's the issue with the Obena console?
It's resetting the Eleos console each time it resets, and the damage buff is Cat 1, with text saying it should be Cat 2. Need to see if they fix that.
So…. Rex review when?
